CFC vs Newfront

Compare CFC specialty products with Newfront’s program coordination for a growing technology company expanding contracts and overseas operations.

Introduction

A growth-stage technology company adding overseas operations and vendor contracts may need both a specialist policy and someone to coordinate the wider program. CFC markets technology and sector products; Newfront offers brokerage advice, contract-review tools and global placement services. Comparing them means separating the insurance being proposed from the service agreement that governs how the company’s risks are managed. 1 37 61 56

Key Differences Between CFC and Newfront

Underwriting a Product Versus Coordinating the Program

CFC’s technology application asks about subsidiaries, revenues, contracts and operations. Newfront describes presenting the business to underwriters, negotiating terms and using specialist teams. These can be complementary functions, but the records do not establish that Newfront can place a particular CFC product for this account. Request a market plan and a named insurer proposal rather than assuming the two brands represent competing whole-company packages. 3 37 58

Newfront’s ownership is no longer described by its earlier standalone history: WTW announced completion of the acquisition in January 2026. Its privacy notice describes integration as ongoing, with anticipated timing rather than completed system unification. Ask which legal producer, service agreement and systems apply to the engagement now. 31 33 32

Contract Tools Need an Underwriting Follow-Through

Newfront says its contract tool extracts insurance requirements and compares them with policies, while its Partner Management tool tracks vendor certificates and compliance tasks. CFC’s technology brochure describes contractual and technology liabilities that can be evaluated against those requirements. Tool output is not proof that an insurer has accepted a requested change; Newfront’s terms require carrier approval and written confirmation for coverage changes. 61 60 32 2

For overseas activity, Newfront describes arranging local insurance through its global service. CFC’s international customer focus does not by itself establish local policies or a permitted product route in every country. Ask which entity is insured locally and which exposures remain in the parent-company policy. 56 1

Advisory Fees and Cyber Response Have Separate Scopes

Newfront’s commercial-insurance fee schedule was not established in the reviewed sources. Its detailed Total Rewards compensation and exit terms concern employee benefits and should not be applied to a technology-liability engagement. CFC’s reviewed product sources likewise do not establish complete buyer charges. Price each service scope alongside the insurance proposal. 37 55 6

Newfront describes pre-loss protocols and claims advocacy; CFC describes cyber monitoring and technical response. Specify who coordinates a cyber event across insurers and territories. Advocacy, technical work and an insurer’s coverage decision are distinct responsibilities. 63 7 8

What to Confirm in Quotes

  • Identify the Newfront/WTW contracting producer, current service systems and the markets actually approached, including any proposed CFC route. 32 33 6
  • Turn contract-review findings into issued endorsements and a location-by-location insurance schedule. 61 56 3
  • Separate commercial brokerage fees from benefits terms, and assign incident response, advocacy and formal notice duties. 55 63 8

Service Comparison

CFC vs Newfront: documented services and availability

CriteriaCFCNewfront
Business role

CFC is a specialist insurance provider operating an MGA model: a managing general agent performs underwriting functions for insurance capacity providers. Its disclosures identify CFC Underwriting Limited and the U.S. producer CFC USA, Inc.; the CFC brand should not be treated as the name of every policy’s insurer. 5,4

WTW announced that it completed its acquisition of Newfront on January 27, 2026. Newfront’s Business Insurance team joined WTW’s Risk & Broking segment, while Total Rewards joined Health, Wealth & Career. 31

Newfront’s current terms use the name Newfront Insurance Services. An older official disclosure identifies ABD Insurance and Financial Services, Inc. as the agency behind the Newfront brand following its 2022 merger. The current site calls Newfront Insurance Services a trade name; confirm the full contracting producer name on your engagement agreement. 32,30,34

Newfront’s brokerage team analyzes risks and negotiates insurance placement. Its claims service acts as a liaison with the carrier. The broker’s advice and advocacy do not make Newfront the insurer responsible for the policy. 37,41,63,32

Application process

The U.S. technology application asks a senior staff member to complete it and return it to the company’s insurance broker. It requests revenue, funding, subsidiaries, products, major contracts, security controls, IP procedures and claims history. CFC’s Connect portal separately supports broker trading and describes a broker appointment process. 3,6

The public buying path starts with a consultation request. The form asks for your role, company, contact details, industry, employee count, and the service you need. It does not display a premium or bind coverage. 38

Newfront describes assembling a team for your industry, reviewing your business and risk exposures, and presenting that information to underwriters. Its technology practice describes onboarding and renewal reviews, with additional market shopping when appropriate. The reviewed public pages do not promise a universal quote or binding turnaround. 37,58,38

Some online services may require you to appoint Newfront as broker of record—the broker designated to service your insurance. Ask which tools and services are included before signing that appointment. 32

Life-science clients can use Newfront’s Clinical Trial Portal to check country requirements, upload documents, and request quotes. The public description does not establish automatic approval or a guaranteed time to receive coverage. 47

Access to insurers

CFC’s regulatory page identifies Lloyd’s Syndicate 1988, managed by Asta Managing Agency Ltd. The reviewed U.S. technology materials do not name the insurer or participating syndicates for a California buyer’s actual policy; ask for those names on the quote and declarations. 4,2,3

Newfront describes relationships with multiple insurers rather than one issuing carrier for all business. Its VCAP page does not name the carriers using its custom endorsement, and its lender program refers to rated carriers without naming them or identifying the rating agency. Ask for the actual issuing entities and proposed forms before relying on those descriptions. 39,45,46

Servicing and renewals

CFC says its cyber service includes threat monitoring and alerts, a response app and round-the-clock technical incident support. These are company-described services; access, scope and any conditions should be checked against the proposed policy. 7

The reviewed Connect and technology application pages do not specify a customer-facing renewal timetable, certificate turnaround or dedicated account-management commitment for California technology buyers. Confirm those arrangements with the placing broker. 6,3

Newfront says Navigator brings together policy documents, certificates, claims information, payment tools, and communication with the service team. Its Executive Risk page describes renewal submissions pre-filled with historical data and document sharing with access controls. 59,40

A policy or coverage change requested through Navigator remains preliminary until the applicable carrier approves it and provides written confirmation. A submitted request is not evidence that the new coverage is in force. 32

Newfront says its Partner Management tool is included in client service agreements at no additional cost. It tracks vendor certificates, expiration dates, compliance issues, and follow-up activity inside Navigator. This is a statement about that tool, not a promise of free brokerage services. 60

Newfront’s Contract Review tool extracts insurance requirements, compares them with current policies, provides source citations, and notifies the Newfront team. Its Coverage Gap Analysis tool supports the team’s policy reviews. These are company-described functions; the reviewed materials do not independently establish accuracy or prove that all gaps will be detected. 61,62

Newfront’s March 2026 privacy notice describes integration with WTW as ongoing and anticipates substantial integration by year-end, subject to legal and contractual limits. That is a stated plan, not confirmation that systems, data practices, or service agreements have already been unified. 33

Fees and compensation

The reviewed U.S. technology brochure, application and Connect page do not disclose a buyer-specific premium, producer commission rate, broker fee or complete schedule of policy charges. Request a written breakdown of premium, taxes, fees and intermediary compensation before purchase. 2,3,6

A standard business-insurance fee schedule, commission percentage, or premium range was not found in the reviewed business, consultation, and general-terms pages. Request an account-specific disclosure of brokerage fees, insurer commissions, other remuneration, and any separately billed services. 37,38,32

For Total Rewards, the order form sets compensation. The published terms allow insurer-paid commissions or client fees and disclose additional carrier compensation tied to the wider book of business. They also address non-cash compensation, retained unused carrier funds, and separate pass-through expenses. Newfront says supplemental commissions will not affect its recommendations. 55

Total Rewards agreements renew annually unless written nonrenewal notice is given at least 60 days in advance. Termination for convenience is allowed during renewal terms with 60 days’ written notice; the client must retain Newfront as broker of record through the current agreement term. Separately, a participating Block Strategy client ending the agreement for convenience during an active affected policy can owe an early-exit fee based on remaining premium savings. 55
