Choose your next step

A certificate of insurance is proof of insurance: a one-page summary of your policies for a landlord, customer, contractor, lender or agency that asked for it. In Spot, you generate it yourself from your policies. Choose who asked, or the endorsement they want, to see what they usually require and how to send it right the first time.

Certificate forms

Common questions

What is a certificate of insurance?

A document that summarizes your policies, limits and dates for someone who needs proof you’re insured. In the United States, liability certificates are usually on the ACORD 25 form.

How do I get a COI with Spot?

Generate it in the Spot app: choose the certificate holder, add their requirements or upload their request, review the certificate, then download or send it.

Does a certificate of insurance change my coverage?

No. It only shows what your policies say. Additional insured, waiver of subrogation and primary and non-contributory terms need endorsements on the policy, which your Spot team requests through your broker and insurer.

Is a certificate of insurance the same as proof of insurance?

For most business requests, yes. Some requesters want more, such as a copy of an endorsement or a property evidence form, and your Spot team helps you get it.

Do I need to switch brokers to generate certificates in Spot?

No. Whoever placed your policies, they come into your Spot workspace, and Spot takes no commissions on premiums.
