CFC vs
Coverdash
Separate CFC product selection from Coverdash brokerage and account management when a startup wants technology coverage and routine business policies.
Introduction
A founder buying technology coverage alongside workers’ compensation and office insurance may be choosing a product and a brokerage at the same time. CFC supplies a technology package through its underwriting model; Coverdash arranges coverage through an online or embedded brokerage experience and lists routine business as well as specialist policies. They are not automatically substitutes at the same point in the purchase. 2 31 32

Key Differences Between CFC and Coverdash
A Named Package Versus a Broker’s Proposed Markets
CFC’s brochure describes technology E&O, cyber and media/IP protection together. Coverdash’s Tech E&O FAQ says cyber is bundled in some policies, but not all. A Coverdash technology quote therefore needs to be identified before comparing it with CFC: ask for the carrier and selected forms rather than comparing two product-page headings. 2 46
Coverdash advertises a carrier panel, but not every applicant receives quotes from the full panel. The records do not establish a Coverdash appointment or placement route to CFC for this business. A brokerage may coordinate a program containing specialist products, but that possible complementary role is not proof that these two companies transact together. 30 37 6
The Embedded Screen Does Not Identify the Insurance Provider
Coverdash can place its quote and management experience inside a partner’s website. Its terms assign the brokerage service to Coverdash Insurance Services, LLC and require a broker-of-record relationship for those services. For someone arriving through another business application, that is a meaningful engagement decision, not merely account creation with the host. 38 31
CFC’s technology form instead directs completed information back to the insurance broker. Identify that broker’s responsibilities for the rest of the company’s policies before treating a CFC proposal as a complete insurance-management service. CFC’s reviewed materials do not specify the California buyer’s certificate turnaround or account-management commitment. 3 6
Account Convenience Comes with Specific Authorizations
Coverdash describes a dashboard for applications, billing, certificates and account-manager contact. Its renewal authorization permits certain automatic renewals with increases of up to 20% when material coverage terms do not change; that is not a cap on possible renewal prices. A finance team should decide who monitors notices and when it wants a new market review. 40 35
Coverdash discloses a Technology Access Fee on each purchased policy, in addition to policy charges, and calls it fully earned and nonrefundable. The disclosure does not give its amount. 34
CFC’s reviewed brochure and Connect page do not disclose comparable buyer-specific charges. Ask for the Coverdash fee amount and the complete CFC placement costs before comparing annual totals. Also reconcile Coverdash’s FAQ and terms on payment versus binding: a payment confirmation alone may not settle the coverage effective date. 2 6 33 31
What to Confirm in Quotes
- Obtain the actual Coverdash insurer and forms, and identify whether cyber is bundled with technology E&O or placed separately. Compare those terms with the specific CFC proposal. 46 2
- Identify the broker responsible for workers’ compensation, office coverage and policy changes; do not infer Coverdash access to CFC from either catalogue. 32 6
- Request the Technology Access Fee amount, financing costs, renewal opt-out process and written binding confirmation. 34 35 31
Service Comparison
CFC vs Coverdash: documented services and availability
| Criteria | CFC | Coverdash |
|---|---|---|
| Business role | CFC is a specialist insurance provider operating an MGA model: a managing general agent performs underwriting functions for insurance capacity providers. Its disclosures identify CFC Underwriting Limited and the U.S. producer CFC USA, Inc.; the CFC brand should not be treated as the name of every policy’s insurer. 5,4 | Coverdash’s terms name Coverdash, Inc. and Coverdash Insurance Services, LLC; the LLC provides the insurance brokerage service. It arranges coverage with insurance companies and says it does not underwrite policies. 31 The reviewed corporate pages identify Coverdash, Inc. and Coverdash Insurance Services, LLC but do not establish their precise ownership relationship or a current controlling parent. 31,37 A partner can put Coverdash’s quote and policy-management experience inside its own website or software. Coverdash’s terms assign insurance solicitation and service to Coverdash rather than the host platform. 38,31 |
| Application process | The U.S. technology application asks a senior staff member to complete it and return it to the company’s insurance broker. It requests revenue, funding, subsidiaries, products, major contracts, security controls, IP procedures and claims history. CFC’s Connect portal separately supports broker trading and describes a broker appointment process. 3,6 | Coverdash’s public application begins with an email-address field. Its FAQ says to have your business name, address, industry, annual revenue and employee count ready; it describes online quote comparison and purchasing, with same-day coverage for most policies. 39,33 The FAQ says payment follows choosing and binding a policy, but the terms allow collecting payment before binding and later insurer rejection or repricing. Confirm the effective date and binding confirmation before relying on coverage. 33,31 Using the brokerage service means appointing Coverdash as broker or agent of record and working exclusively with it for those services unless otherwise agreed. 31 |
| Servicing and renewals | CFC says its cyber service includes threat monitoring and alerts, a response app and round-the-clock technical incident support. These are company-described services; access, scope and any conditions should be checked against the proposed policy. 7 The reviewed Connect and technology application pages do not specify a customer-facing renewal timetable, certificate turnaround or dedicated account-management commitment for California technology buyers. Confirm those arrangements with the placing broker. 6,3 | The public sign-in page describes resuming applications, reviewing policies and billing requests, downloading certificates and contacting an account manager. Coverdash’s FAQ directs customers through their account to request coverage changes or cancellation. 40,33 Coverdash’s certificate guide describes self-service PDF certificates, selection of multiple policies and an e-commerce marketplace template. It says requests for agent assistance can take up to two business days. 42 For policies whose billing and premium payment it facilitates, Coverdash’s renewal authorization permits automatic renewal with a premium increase of up to 20% if no material coverage terms change. Larger increases or material changes require renewed consent. 35 The authorization permits necessary renewal paperwork, including a new premium-finance agreement. Customers can opt out or request cancellation through the dashboard, with processing time; the insurer still decides whether to renew. 35 |
| Fees and compensation | The reviewed U.S. technology brochure, application and Connect page do not disclose a buyer-specific premium, producer commission rate, broker fee or complete schedule of policy charges. Request a written breakdown of premium, taxes, fees and intermediary compensation before purchase. 2,3,6 | Coverdash discloses a Technology Access Fee on each purchased policy, in addition to policy charges, and calls it fully earned and nonrefundable. The disclosure does not give its amount. 34 Coverdash may receive insurer or payment-servicer commissions, performance-related contingent or supplemental commissions, and negotiated client fees. It also discloses affinity-referral and administrative-service income. 34 Coverdash’s help center identifies Ascend as its payment and premium-finance partner. It explains that financing pays the annual premium upfront while the customer repays in installments. Confirm the current lender, interest and fees in the payment agreement. 41,35 |
| Access to insurers | CFC’s regulatory page identifies Lloyd’s Syndicate 1988, managed by Asta Managing Agency Ltd. The reviewed U.S. technology materials do not name the insurer or participating syndicates for a California buyer’s actual policy; ask for those names on the quote and declarations. 4,2,3 | Coverdash advertises access to more than 40 carriers and displays names including Chubb, Travelers, Hiscox and Nationwide. It does not promise that every applicant will receive quotes from that entire panel. 30,37 Nationwide’s own agency directory lists Coverdash Insurance Services and links to coverdash.com, independently supporting that carrier relationship. The listing does not identify the insurer or terms for a particular Coverdash quote. 44 |
