Beazley vs
HUB International
Why Beazley’s MediaTech and Execuguard specialty forms are insurer products accessed through brokers, not a substitute for HUB International’s full-service commercial brokerage.
Introduction
Beazley and HUB International both appear when a software or media company searches for technology errors and omissions (E&O) and cyber. Beazley is the specialty insurer (and related Beazley entities) behind products such as MediaTech. HUB is a broker. You do not switch from HUB to Beazley the way you switch brokers; you ask whether HUB, Insureon or another intermediary will submit to Beazley. Beazley’s reviewed product pages are specialty professional and executive forms, not HUB’s workers’ compensation or employee-benefits brokerage catalogue. 1 2 30 37
Where Each Provider Shines
Where Beazley Shines
Where HUB International Shines
- HUB’s technology practice markets insurance and benefits programs to startups and software, hardware and digital-media companies, and says it currently insures more than 5,000 technology companies. 30
- HUB routes qualifying small commercial accounts to Insureon’s online quote and other business insurance to a HUB advisor or local office; there is no published self-serve bind path for mid-market programs on hubinternational.com. 28,31,32,33,30,26

Key Differences Between Beazley and HUB International
Underwriter Versus Intermediary
Beazley underwrites specialty products such as MediaTech; related Beazley entities are the insurers described in its legal materials. 1 5 HUB is a broker. HUB’s published materials do not name Beazley as an appointed market, so a HUB proposal might use Beazley or another insurer. 24 25 27
Packaged Specialty Forms
Beazley’s MediaTech form combines technology E&O, media and cyber. 1 Execuguard can separate or share executive-risk limits. 10 HUB lists cyber, professional liability and directors and officers (D&O) as separately marketed brokerage products. Shared MediaTech limits versus separate HUB-placed towers is a structure question for the quote. 33 32
Application
Beazley applications run through brokers. HUB is one such broker; Insureon is another HUB-related producer that does not automatically offer MediaTech. 2 28
Claims-Made Notice
Beazley’s claims-made wording and claim-notification page matter if that form is bound. HUB’s claims practice is advocacy to the insurer on the policy. Follow the Beazley notice clause if Beazley is the issuer. 8 52

Service Comparison
Beazley vs HUB International: documented services and availability
| Criteria | Beazley | HUB International |
|---|---|---|
| Business role | Beazley is a specialty insurance group operating through insurance companies and underwriting businesses. Its US disclosures distinguish the insurance entities from Beazley USA Services, Inc., which reports doing business in California as Beazley Insurance Services under license 0G55497. This is a company disclosure, not an independently verified license record. 5,6,7 | HUB International Limited describes itself as a full-service insurance broker and financial-services firm. Its website terms say HUB’s subsidiaries are licensed as insurance brokers or agents in various U.S. states and Canadian provinces. The reviewed product pages market brokerage of policies issued by insurers, not HUB as a risk-bearing carrier for those policies. 24,25,29 HUB’s About Us timeline states that in 2022 it acquired Insureon for digital delivery of small-business commercial insurance. Insureon and TechInsurance say they are part of HUB; Insureon says it operates as a division of Specialty Program Group LLC, doing business as SPG Insurance Solutions. TechInsurance describes itself as part of Insureon rather than as a separate HUB retail office. 24,54,55,56,57 |
| Coverage lines | MediaTech combines technology and professional errors and omissions, media liability and cyber coverage. Beazley lists breach response, business interruption, dependent business interruption, extortion, data recovery and eCrime protections, with limits up to $5 million; the issued policy determines the cover purchased. 1 The linked MediaTech sample form is dated February 2019. It excludes patent infringement and trade-secret misappropriation related to technology or other products, and contains contractual-liability and retroactive-date restrictions. The sample is not evidence of the wording that will be offered today. 3,5 Execuguard offers private-company directors and officers, employment practices and fiduciary liability, with separate or shared limits across selected coverages. Beazley advertises both admitted and non-admitted options; state and account eligibility still need confirmation. 10 Beazley offers Commercial Crime for commercial companies and Financial Fidelity Bonds for financial institutions. Its crime page describes fraudulent-instruction coverage subject to out-of-band authentication, with possible removal of that condition for documented controls and an additional premium. 11 Virtual Care lists healthcare professional liability, technology liability, cyber, media, general liability and products/completed operations for digital-health businesses. Life Sciences offers product, professional and general liability through BioSecure, NutraGuard and WellTech forms for different life-sciences exposures. 13,14 North American Commercial Property targets mid-sized and large commercial properties on an excess and surplus lines basis. Product Recall – Manufacturing Risk and Response separately addresses consumer goods, component parts and consumables, including product-removal and related income-loss costs. 15,16 BeazleyOne Environmental combines general, professional and contractors’ pollution liability for environmental-service firms, and lists hired and non-owned auto. US Marine offers hull and marine liability on primary and excess bases; this does not establish general corporate umbrella availability. 17,18 Beazley offers representations and warranties coverage for acquisitions. Its US Specialty Programs business works through managing general agents, program administrators and specialized brokers on professional, general, product, manufacturers’ E&O, cyber and allied-medical liability programs. 12,19 The posted Digital Media Tech application says liability coverage is claims-made and reported: the claim must be made and reported within the applicable policy terms. It also warns that claims expenses reduce the liability limit and are subject to retentions. 2 | HUB publishes dedicated business-insurance product pages for, among other lines, general liability, commercial property, workers’ compensation, business owners policies, commercial auto (including hired and non-owned exposures and trucking), cyber, directors and officers, professional liability/E&O, crime, fiduciary liability, kidnap and ransom, surety bonds, medical malpractice, marine/inland marine and cargo, boiler and machinery/equipment breakdown, and mergers-and-acquisitions representations-and-warranties insurance. Its casualty page also lists product liability, umbrella and excess, and product-recall as program elements. Employee-benefits brokerage is marketed separately. Actual policy forms, limits and eligibility are not set by those marketing pages. 29,31,39,37,38,40,33,32,34,35,41,42,43,44,45,48,49,46,47,50,36 For technology companies, HUB lists professional liability/technology E&O, cyber, a patent package described as property, auto, liability and umbrella, international placements, cargo/stock throughput, property/builders risk, pollution liability, management liability including D&O, employment-practices liability, fiduciary liability, transactional/warranty insurance, crime, workers’ compensation, employee benefits, key-person life and disability, retirement solutions, and kidnap and ransom. 30 |
| Application process | Beazley describes MediaTech placement through third-party platforms or email. Its posted application requests the business’s services and products, employee count, US and non-US revenues, financial statements and expected business changes. A submitted application does not establish acceptance or an effective policy. 1,2 | On hubinternational.com, commercial buyers are asked to contact a broker, connect with a specialist, or use Contact Us. Small-commercial inquiries meeting HUB’s stated size tests go to Insureon for an online quote. Product pages such as general liability, D&O, cyber and workers’ compensation use “Contact Us” or “Connect With a Broker” rather than an on-site bind flow. Privacy policy language refers to automation for insurance quoting, without documenting a public HUB retail e-commerce checkout for mid-market programs. 28,31,32,33,30,26 |
| Access to insurers | The posted Digital Media Tech application names Beazley Insurance Company, Inc. Beazley’s broader disclosures also describe surplus-lines business through Beazley Excess and Surplus Insurance, Inc. or Beazley-managed Lloyd’s syndicates. The actual MediaTech insurer and California placement basis must be identified in the quote. 2,7 | HUB’s compensation page says it has access to the products and services of hundreds of insurers and that it focuses on a smaller set of “Strategic Carriers,” which may pay enhanced compensation. Property, casualty and marine pages refer to domestic, national, regional, specialty and global carrier relationships without publishing a complete appointment list. ProEx says it places more than $2 billion of premium with top-rated insurance carriers; that volume and rating language is company-reported and does not name the carriers. Issuing insurers therefore have to be taken from a quote, not from the public catalogue. 27,39,47,48,36 Insureon says it has access to 100+ insurance providers and names The Hartford, Chubb, Hiscox, Liberty Mutual and Travelers as examples. Those names are Insureon’s examples for its digital agency, not a statement that every HUB retail placement uses the same insurers, and they do not identify the issuing company on a particular policy. 54 |
| Claims assistance | Beazley directs customers to check their policy’s notification instructions first. Its website provides a notice-of-loss form and a US claims email route. The existence of these channels does not establish claims-handling quality or a promise that a loss is covered. 8 | HUB markets a claims-management practice that it says includes dedicated claims professionals, advocacy, coverage-dispute support, TPA selection and audits, reserve analysis and litigation-management support. It states the team has more than 225 claims professionals in the United States and Canada. The page also publishes numerical process claims such as 24-hour turnaround on claims reporting; those figures are company-reported marketing metrics, not independently verified outcomes, and they do not describe how a particular insurer will adjust a claim. 52 |
