Harper vs
Mylo
How Harper and Mylo differ when a care business needs commercial insurance, professional protection and employee benefits.
Introduction
Harper arranges commercial insurance for businesses with complex operations, including care providers. Mylo offers multi-carrier commercial insurance shopping, medical malpractice and small-group benefits. Harper’s privacy policy says it does not currently offer health or life insurance. For a care business hiring employees, that is a specific reason to separate the commercial-insurance decision from the benefits project. 8 2 3 19 27 32

Key Differences Between Harper and Mylo
Clinical Work and Employee Benefits
If a care provider adds licensed clinical services and grows its staff, describe the services and staffing arrangements before asking for a quote. Harper’s catalogue includes medical malpractice and professional liability; Mylo has a dedicated malpractice offering. The commercial proposals should identify the practitioners and entities insured and the work included in the professional-services definition. Neither a care-industry page nor a general liability policy establishes protection for every clinical activity. 7 8 27
Mylo describes both claims-made and occurrence malpractice options. The important distinction is the policy’s trigger: ask whether the claim and reporting timing matter, or whether the event during the insured period is the starting point, and obtain the actual wording. If replacing an existing arrangement, compare prior-acts dates and any extended reporting option. Ask Harper to provide the same detail for its proposed insurer rather than assuming the public catalogue describes a single standard form. 27 7
Benefits for employees are a separate project from malpractice or workers’ compensation. Mylo describes enrollment by phone or online, an HR portal and licensed benefits-advisor help for businesses with 2–99 employees. Harper’s stated health/life scope means the business should identify another arrangement for that work if Harper handles its commercial policies. A producer’s life qualification does not override the company’s explicit offering statement. 32 3 4
Coordinated Packages and Separate Specialist Work
Mylo’s commercial catalogue includes a business owner’s policy (BOP), described as combining liability, property and business interruption, plus other separately marketed lines. Harper lists property, liability, medical malpractice and workers’ compensation. Ask each broker to identify what is packaged and what is separate, particularly if adding clinical services changes the insurer’s willingness to offer the existing premises package. Do not infer that one broker has to place every line with one insurer. 19 23 7 1
Cyber is another distinct item. Mylo’s malpractice page expressly treats cyber as additional coverage; Harper markets cyber in its commercial offering. For a provider handling client records, request the actual response-cost and liability terms, reporting contacts and any conditions tied to security practices. That avoids treating a malpractice purchase as an answer to a data incident. 27 1
Harper describes specialty and non-admitted market routes; Mylo describes a panel of commercial carriers. Request which markets considered the actual care and clinical activities and the legal insurer on each offer. Harper’s count of underwriters and Mylo’s carrier total measure different things and cannot establish comparative choice for this business. 14 13 19
Service Arrangements After Purchase
Mylo lets applicants begin online or with a licensed advisor, but says an agent finalizes most purchases. Harper collects business details and uses specialists and internal AI tools, with its privacy policy reserving final decisions for human and carrier review. Ask who will review the application’s clinical description before it reaches underwriting and what remains before coverage can start. Harper’s messaging terms explicitly make text-based quotes subject to final documentation. 19 21 3 2
After purchase, Harper advertises a portal for policies, certificates, payments and application status. Mylo’s published service directory routes customers to carrier-specific contacts, with its own fallback, and benefits have a separate HR workflow. For a care operator, ask whether one administrator will maintain those contacts and who handles staff changes, policy amendments and renewals. Multiple service routes need coordination; they are not evidence of missing service. 16 22 32
Fees and Claims Responsibilities by Policy
Mylo says guided shopping is free and 95% of customers pay it no purchase fee. It generally earns carrier commissions and describes a billing-related fee in fewer than 5% of transactions. Harper’s referral program discloses inter-agency compensation but does not establish a buyer-facing fee schedule. Compare the full commercial premium and charges separately from benefits costs, including who bills each arrangement. The cost of guided shopping or joining a referral program is not the total cost of the policies. 20 15 17
Harper describes claims advocacy; Mylo supplies carrier claims contacts. For a professional allegation or data incident, obtain the relevant notice instructions before relying on a general service contact. A claims-made policy’s reporting requirements deserve particular attention during a broker or insurer change. 17 2 22 27
What to Confirm in Quotes
- Clinical scope and continuity: Name insured practitioners and entities, the accepted services, policy trigger, prior-acts treatment and reporting extension options. 7 27
- Separate benefits scope: Confirm who handles health and life benefits, eligibility, enrollment and ongoing staff changes. 3 32
- Package and cyber wording: Identify the property/liability components and separate data-incident protection, with actual insurers and forms. 1 23 27
- Billing and notice map: Record every payee, possible buyer fee and policy-specific claims contact, including the person coordinating renewals. 15 20 22
Service Comparison
Harper vs Mylo: documented services and availability
| Criteria | Harper | Mylo |
|---|---|---|
| Application process | The public quote form asks for your contact and business details, state, estimated annual revenue, business activity and requested coverage. It includes an existing-customer checkbox and a text-message consent choice. The visible form starts an inquiry; it does not display a final premium or issued policy. 1 The founders describe Harper Hub as internal software that helps complete forms, identify carriers and underwriters, and manage client communications. Their Y Combinator launch describes full autonomy as a direction for the business. 6 Harper’s privacy policy says AI extracts document information, drafts messages for review, organizes follow-ups and assists staff. It says licensed professionals and carriers review final decisions, including eligibility and binding. AI marketing therefore does not establish that a machine can approve your coverage on its own. 3 The privacy policy describes collecting applications, loss records and business documents. It also says customer communications and policy information train Harper’s own models, while its enterprise AI vendors state they do not train their foundation models on customer data. These are different uses of your information. 3 Harper’s messaging terms say a text cannot bind, change, renew or cancel insurance. Coverage takes effect only with written confirmation from Harper and the applicable carrier; quotes sent by text remain subject to underwriting and final documentation. 2 Harper’s February 2026 announcement advertises coverage within 24–48 hours. That is a company timing claim, not a deadline established for your application. Ask what information and approvals are still outstanding before arranging work around a proposed start date. 13 | A business buyer can answer questions about the company and industry online or work by phone with a licensed advisor. Mylo says its system recommends coverage and compares available quotes; some carrier and coverage combinations can be purchased online, but an agent finalizes the policy in most cases. 19,21 Mylo’s Terms of Use say a purchase may carry additional transaction terms, require accurate and complete application answers and is not guaranteed to result in an issued policy. The posted site terms were last updated in November 2018, so buyers should review the current terms presented with a quote. 21 |
| Access to insurers | Harper’s homepage displays insurers including Progressive, Kinsale, USLI, Atlantic Casualty, James River, GEICO, AIG and Hiscox. Its February 2026 announcement reports relationships with more than 165 underwriters and plans for more direct appointments. An underwriter count is not a count of distinct insurers that will quote your account. 1,13 An older Harper article says it uses only AAA-rated carriers, without specifying the rating agency, legal insurers or dated rating records. That does not establish a financial-strength rating for the insurer on your quote. Request that insurer’s exact name and current rating evidence. 17 | Mylo says its commercial brokerage works with more than 40 carrier partners and names Travelers, Liberty Mutual, The Hartford and Hiscox as examples. That panel does not establish which insurers will consider or quote a particular business. 19,22 Mylo’s public pages do not provide a complete product-and-state schedule of issuing insurers. The carrier contact directory names companies used for some customers, but the legal insurer for each proposed policy must be confirmed in the quote and policy documents. 19,22,21 |
| Servicing and renewals | For workers’ compensation, Harper says it helps classify payroll by the work employees perform and prepares information for premium audits. Its cost FAQ identifies payroll, job categories and claims history as pricing factors. An audit can reconcile the information used to price the policy; Harper’s service description is not a promise that your premium cannot change. 10,18 Under that referral program, Harper says it owns the account and handles quoting, placement, servicing, renewals and claims; the referring agent has no servicing duties. Its separate wholesale page offers white-label options. If another agent introduces you, clarify which arrangement applies and who will be your ongoing contact. 15,14 Harper’s public portal entry page advertises access to certificates, policies, payments and application status. Sign-in uses the email address associated with a Harper invitation; the page directs customers without an invitation to its service team. Features behind sign-in were not tested. 16 Harper describes ongoing policy management and annual coverage reviews. Its messaging terms list reminders about renewals, billing and premium finance, along with communications about changes and certificates. These service descriptions do not specify a guaranteed renewal price or a commitment to re-shop every policy. 17,2 | The reviewed public pages identify Mylo advisors, a service-professional fallback and a benefits HR portal, but do not establish one universal workflow for commercial policy changes, certificates, renewals or cancellations across carriers. 19,22,32 |
| Fees and compensation | Harper Partners advertises a payment of 50% of Harper’s commission to an appropriately licensed referring agent, paid 60 days after the account settles. It says the underlying commission varies by coverage line, premium and carrier. The percentage is a share of commission, not a discount on the buyer’s premium. 15 The reviewed Harper pages do not disclose a buyer-facing schedule of brokerage fees or account-specific commission rates. Its statement that partner agents can join for free does not establish that buying insurance through Harper carries no fees. Request an itemized total, including premium, taxes, fees and any financing charges. 15,17,9,2 | Mylo says its guided shopping service is free and that 95% of customers do not pay Mylo a fee when purchasing. It generally earns a carrier commission; in fewer than 5% of transactions, it says it charges a fee when it handles billing and incurs higher administrative costs. The reviewed disclosure does not give the fee amount. 20 |
| Claims assistance | Harper says its team assists with claims documentation and communication, and advocates with the carrier. This describes brokerage assistance. The insurer named in the policy remains the company responsible for covered losses; claims support is not a promise that a claim will be paid. 17,18 A dedicated claims-reporting procedure, after-hours response commitment and policy-specific notice address were not established in the reviewed Harper sources. Obtain those instructions with your policy. Harper’s messaging terms warn against relying on texts for urgent matters. 17,16,2 | Mylo publishes carrier-specific support and claims contacts and directs customers to the insurer for many service needs. If a carrier is not listed, the page gives a Mylo Service Professional number; it does not promise that Mylo decides or pays claims. 22 |
