Corgi vs
Risklytics
Compare a startup insurance package with a frontier-tech brokerage submission when a robot pilot needs both liability coverage and acceptable insurer paper.
Introduction
A robotics startup can have two requirements at once: insure a new deployment and satisfy a customer's rules about the insurer. Corgi offers stage-based startup packages, including technology liability, while Risklytics presents the operation to markets that it says understand frontier technology. The choice is therefore about both the coverage proposal and the entity standing behind it. 2 24

Key Differences Between Corgi and Risklytics
A Package and a Placement Search Start Differently
Corgi's pre-seed, Series A and growth packages give a founder an initial grouping of coverages. Risklytics says it builds an application from the business description and public information for the buyer to check. A funding-stage package can organize the purchase, but neither that label nor an automatically prepared application settles how a robot working at a customer's premises is described to the insurer. Compare the submitted operations description as well as the quoted limits. 2 23
The Insurer Requirement Can Decide Whether a Quote Is Usable
Corgi's disclosures distinguish its producer from affiliated and partner insurers. They say Technology Risk Retention Group has no AM Best rating, while admitted partner options depend on the risk and state. Do not transfer a partner's rating to another Corgi entity. Risklytics' reviewed disclosures do not name the insurer for a California placement, so its brokerage brand also cannot answer the customer's insurer requirement. 1 25 26
An AI Label Does Not Resolve the Deployment Wording
Corgi markets a Tech & AI Liability module; Risklytics says it reviews technology E&O forms for AI exclusions. Those describe different things—a marketed product and a broker review activity. Ask both to connect the actual deployment to the proposed insuring language and exclusions. Risklytics' published agency table does not list California, and this research has not established its California producer route; absence from that table is not proof it cannot arrange coverage. 8 30 24
What to Confirm in Quotes
- Obtain the insurer's exact name and confirm that the customer accepts its status and rating, rather than submitting a brand-level description. 1 25
- Ask whether the robot, installation work and software output are covered under the proposed forms, and where separate property or equipment insurance sits. 2 26
- Get written binding conditions and the California producer arrangement before committing to the pilot start date. Corgi's speed claims and Risklytics' prepared intake do not establish an effective policy. 1 28 24
Service Comparison
Corgi vs Risklytics Insurance: documented services and availability
| Criteria | Corgi | Risklytics |
|---|---|---|
| Business role | Corgi Insurance Services, Inc. is the licensed agency that sells and administers Corgi policies. The insurer named in your policy provides the coverage. 1,2,4 | Risklytics describes itself as a commercial insurance brokerage. Its current legal disclosures identify Risklytics, Inc., doing business as Risklytics Insurance Services, as the producer arranging coverage rather than the insurer. 24,25 |
| Access to insurers | Corgi uses affiliated and partner insurers. Your policy names the insurer and claims administrator for your coverage. 1 Technology Risk Retention Group, Inc. appears in the NAIC company listing as Arizona-domiciled property and casualty company code 17763 (listed as TECHNOLOGY RRG INC). Corgi’s disclaimers call TRRG the group’s primary underwriting entity and a risk retention group organized under the Liability Risk Retention Act. The same Carrier Financial Strength paragraph describes TRRG as federally chartered and operating under federal prudential oversight; that wording is company language and is not adopted here as a legal conclusion. 17,1,3,2,18,19 A risk retention group is a member-owned liability insurer licensed in its home state. Federal law lets it operate in other states through registration. Members must have similar or related business risks. 18,19,21 For customers who need an admitted insurer, Corgi says it can use affiliated or partner carriers rated A- or better by AM Best. Options depend on the state, coverage, and business. Eligible admitted policies may have state guaranty-association protection, subject to that state’s limits. 1,3,2,9 Corgi says Technology Risk Retention Group does not have an AM Best rating. A financial-strength rating and admitted status are separate things. 1,5 Corgi Insurance Company’s August 2026 launch announcement did not give a financial-strength rating or a complete list of licensed states. Confirm both if they are requirements for your business. 9,22 Policies issued by a risk retention group are not covered by state insurance guaranty funds. Corgi includes this notice for policies issued by Technology Risk Retention Group. 20,2,1 Corgi says its insurers may share risk with reinsurers, while the insurer on your policy remains responsible for claims. Its public disclosures do not name the current reinsurers or their contract terms. 1,14 | The terms allow submissions directly to insurers or through wholesale brokers. No named issuing insurer or product-specific California placement arrangement was identified in the reviewed terms, market-access page or coverage pages. 25,26,30,32 |
| Application process | You can apply online or book a call with a Corgi specialist. Corgi says eligible applicants can get a quote in minutes and buy coverage the same day. Its disclosures describe both an issued-policy-and-payment condition and temporary coverage under a written binder. Confirm the applicable conditions and effective date in writing. 2,1 | Risklytics says it drafts an application using your description and public business information, including your website, for you to check and sign. It advertises Slack and email placement updates. The application-preparation process and its speed were not tested. 23 Risklytics says it reviews the application with you, approaches suitable insurers and reads quote wording before making a recommendation. Its FAQ says the insurer binds after you accept a quote; timing varies with the coverage and operation. 28 |
| Availability | Corgi Insurance Services lists agency licenses in 49 states and Washington, D.C.; New Mexico is not listed. Product availability varies by state and is subject to underwriting approval. 4,2,1 Rhode Island’s 23 June 2026 list of registered risk retention groups includes Technology Risk Retention Group, Inc., NAIC 17763, at 425 Bush Street, San Francisco. A complete list of states where TRRG is registered was not found in the reviewed sources. 16 | Risklytics publishes agency NPN 22311838 and Massachusetts resident license 3004393145. Its state table, dated September 10, 2026, also lists Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, New Jersey, Ohio, Texas and Washington. These are company-reported identifiers, not independently verified licenses or product eligibility. 24 California is absent from the reviewed agency-license table. A California-authorized producer and product route remain unconfirmed in the reviewed disclosures; this does not establish that Risklytics cannot arrange California coverage. Confirm the responsible producer, authority and insurer for your operation before relying on a quote. 24,25,33 |
