Embroker vs
Harper
Compare Embroker’s proprietary-program access with Harper’s placement and referral services when an existing agent needs another insurance market.
Introduction
Embroker is a commercial broker and online platform that also distributes proprietary insurance programs through appointed brokers. Harper is a commercial brokerage with direct placement, an agent referral program and a separate wholesale offering. If your current agent needs another market for an expanding business, who remains responsible for advice, policy changes and renewals after the introduction is part of the comparison. 10 2 28 41 40

Key Differences Between Embroker and Harper
Referral Handoff Versus Program Access
Embroker Access lets appointed brokers arrange its proprietary products. An existing advisor can investigate a program without the buyer becoming a direct Embroker brokerage client. Harper Partners describes a different arrangement: the introducing agent refers the account, and Harper handles quoting, placement, servicing, renewals and claims. For an owner accustomed to calling one local agent, that difference changes who handles day-to-day service. 10 41
Harper’s separate wholesale page also offers support to retail brokers, including white-label options. Do not apply the referral program’s handoff terms to every Harper transaction. Ask the introducing agent to identify the route and provide a written allocation of duties. With Embroker, likewise distinguish its appointed-broker program from direct brokerage services, whose terms require a broker- or agent-of-record designation and describe exclusivity unless otherwise agreed. 40 41 2
Guard Work Versus Management Liability
A security business adds mobile patrols and is also seeking management-liability protection for its leadership. Harper explicitly markets to armed guards, event security and mobile patrol businesses. Embroker’s Management Insurance Suite (EMIS) offering addresses directors and officers, employment practices and fiduciary liability for private companies across several industries. These descriptions concern different exposures: liability arising from guards’ work and decisions made in running the company. One management-liability application should not be assumed to cover both. 37 9
Embroker’s wider catalogue includes general liability, workers’ compensation and commercial auto; Harper’s partner page accepts professional and management liability requests as well as other commercial lines. Ask both routes which policies they can actually arrange for the operation. Harper’s explicit guard-business focus is a reason to investigate that route, while Embroker’s catalogue is not proof that every security business qualifies. Neither description establishes the exact insurer or use-of-force wording on a proposal. 8 21 41 37
For the patrol expansion, describe armed versus unarmed duties, vehicles and employee work accurately. Harper’s workers’ compensation page discusses classifying payroll and preparing audit information. Ask Embroker’s placing broker for the corresponding insurer requirements and audit responsibilities. The comparison is whether the submission and proposed forms represent the new operation, not whether a general coverage menu contains the right labels. 37 36 2 8
Binding Authority and Start Dates
Embroker names insurers for particular programs, including Everspan Indemnity for EMIS. Harper’s wholesale page claims binding authority for selected programs without identifying the complete carrier and product scope. Binding authority is permission to put specified coverage in force; it does not make the intermediary the insurer. Require the legal insurer and evidence that the proposed placement has been accepted. 9 2 40 28
Harper’s messaging terms expressly say a text cannot bind, amend, renew or cancel insurance. Embroker’s terms likewise distinguish a quote from active coverage. If the new patrol contract has a start date, use written confirmation of the policy and any required endorsements as the operational checkpoint. A fast reply or completed application is only an earlier step. 28 2
Certificates, Renewals and Broker Changes
Harper’s invitation-based portal advertises policies, certificates, payments and application status. Embroker’s FAQ describes downloadable policies and certificates when it is broker of record, with custom certificate wording sometimes requiring an endorsement first. Confirm the account and service contacts under the chosen channel; the person who introduced the business may have a different role after placement. 42 41 4
A future agent change is particularly important for Embroker proprietary products. Its FAQ warns that a replacement broker outside Embroker Access may be unable to renew them, and leaving affects account service functions. Harper’s referral arrangement expressly assigns the ongoing work to Harper, but does not establish that the buyer can never appoint another broker. Ask both for the renewal and transfer procedure before choosing a service arrangement you intend to change later. 4 41
Referral Compensation and Claims Contacts
Harper’s referral split concerns the commission paid between appropriately licensed agencies. It is not a discount on the policy premium and does not specify the buyer’s fee. Embroker’s disclosure identifies commissions, potential performance-related compensation and negotiated client fees, with free software access. Request an account-level total and compensation explanation for either placement rather than comparing an agent’s revenue share with an owner’s premium. 41 3
Claims support should also be assigned by placement. Harper describes documentation help and advocacy with the carrier, while its text terms warn against relying on messaging for urgent matters. Embroker provides account instructions and a policy-hotline route for active cyber events. Obtain the insurer’s notice details for each patrol, employer and management policy; the public descriptions do not establish comparative claim-payment performance. 43 28 19
What to Confirm in Quotes
- Which service route is this? Identify direct Embroker, Embroker Access, Harper Partners referral or Harper wholesale, and who handles advice and changes. 10 41 40
- Which activities and policies were accepted? Request patrol-duty wording, vehicle and payroll schedules, and separately selected management-liability coverages. 37 36 9
- What confirms the start? Obtain the insurer’s name, binding confirmation and issued endorsements needed by the contract. 28 2
- What survives an agent change? Record renewal access, certificate service, claims contacts and the full buyer-paid cost separately from referral compensation. 4 3 41
Service Comparison
Embroker vs Harper: documented services and availability
| Criteria | Embroker | Harper |
|---|---|---|
| Customer focus | Embroker is a business insurance broker and online platform for buying and managing coverage. It serves funded startups, technology companies, law firms, investment firms and other professional-services businesses. You can apply online or get help arranging insurance from its brokers. 1,2,4 | Its advertised customers include contractors, restaurants, auto dealers, childcare and adult-care providers, manufacturers, and transportation businesses. Harper emphasizes operations that are difficult to place with an insurer. 34,39 |
| Business role | Embroker Insurance Services LLC is the producer named in its public lawyers’ liability specimen. Florida’s corporate record lists Embroker, Inc. as the LLC’s authorized member. That identifies a corporate relationship, not the insurer on your policy. 15,7 Embroker distributes proprietary programs through its own channel and through other brokers using Embroker Access. Its terms also allow it to perform underwriting work for insurers under their guidelines; the issuing insurer bears the policy obligations. 10,2 The reviewed corporate record identifies Embroker, Inc. as an authorized member of the producer LLC; it does not establish Embroker, Inc.’s ultimate beneficial ownership. 7 | Harper is a commercial insurance brokerage: it helps businesses find insurance from other companies and arrange the purchase. You can request a quote online or speak with a specialist, who gathers information, approaches insurers and explains the options. 28,35 Harper’s text-messaging terms identify the brokerage as Harper Global Enterprises Inc., doing business as Harper Global Insurance Agency. Its privacy policy instead names Harper Group Corp. The reviewed disclosures do not explain the corporate relationship between those names. 28,29 Harper separately markets wholesale access for other brokers, including specialty and non-admitted insurers. That page claims binding authority on selected programs but does not identify the delegating insurers, products, states or authority limits. It is not evidence that Harper itself bears the insured risk. 40 |
| Application process | The public quote-start screen asks for a company name and whether the company has a website. It links the terms and compensation disclosure before continuing. 26 An account alone does not appoint Embroker as your broker. Using its brokerage service requires a broker- or agent-of-record designation and exclusive work with Embroker for those services unless otherwise agreed. 2 An application may need additional underwriting information or be declined; a quote itself does not put insurance in force. 2 | The public quote form asks for your contact and business details, state, estimated annual revenue, business activity and requested coverage. It includes an existing-customer checkbox and a text-message consent choice. The visible form starts an inquiry; it does not display a final premium or issued policy. 27 The founders describe Harper Hub as internal software that helps complete forms, identify carriers and underwriters, and manage client communications. Their Y Combinator launch describes full autonomy as a direction for the business. 32 Harper’s privacy policy says AI extracts document information, drafts messages for review, organizes follow-ups and assists staff. It says licensed professionals and carriers review final decisions, including eligibility and binding. AI marketing therefore does not establish that a machine can approve your coverage on its own. 29 The privacy policy describes collecting applications, loss records and business documents. It also says customer communications and policy information train Harper’s own models, while its enterprise AI vendors state they do not train their foundation models on customer data. These are different uses of your information. 29 Harper’s messaging terms say a text cannot bind, change, renew or cancel insurance. Coverage takes effect only with written confirmation from Harper and the applicable carrier; quotes sent by text remain subject to underwriting and final documentation. 28 Harper’s February 2026 announcement advertises coverage within 24–48 hours. That is a company timing claim, not a deadline established for your application. Ask what information and approvals are still outstanding before arranging work around a proposed start date. 39 |
| Servicing and renewals | EMIS replaces the two previous management-liability offerings for new customers. Embroker says existing policyholders can continue renewing their legacy products; switching to EMIS requires a new-business application. 9 The FAQ describes downloadable policies and certificates for accounts where Embroker is the broker of record. Custom certificate wording may require a policy endorsement first. 4 Renewals vary: some policies renew through the insurer, while others need a fresh application and underwriting. Embroker describes reviewing the proposal, accepting it and paying or arranging financing; the new policy’s effective date controls when the renewal begins. 4 If you move to another broker, Embroker says you lose account-based certificate issuance and policy-change functions. A replacement broker outside Embroker Access may also be unable to renew proprietary products. 4 | For workers’ compensation, Harper says it helps classify payroll by the work employees perform and prepares information for premium audits. Its cost FAQ identifies payroll, job categories and claims history as pricing factors. An audit can reconcile the information used to price the policy; Harper’s service description is not a promise that your premium cannot change. 36,44 Under that referral program, Harper says it owns the account and handles quoting, placement, servicing, renewals and claims; the referring agent has no servicing duties. Its separate wholesale page offers white-label options. If another agent introduces you, clarify which arrangement applies and who will be your ongoing contact. 41,40 Harper’s public portal entry page advertises access to certificates, policies, payments and application status. Sign-in uses the email address associated with a Harper invitation; the page directs customers without an invitation to its service team. Features behind sign-in were not tested. 42 Harper describes ongoing policy management and annual coverage reviews. Its messaging terms list reminders about renewals, billing and premium finance, along with communications about changes and certificates. These service descriptions do not specify a guaranteed renewal price or a commitment to re-shop every policy. 43,28 |
| Fees and compensation | Embroker’s software is free. Insurance services can generate insurer commissions, contingent compensation linked to business results, and supplemental commissions. Embroker may also negotiate client fees alongside or instead of commissions, approved before binding, usually in writing. 3 Payment processors and premium-finance lenders can add their own charges. Ask for the total cost and installment terms separately from Embroker’s compensation. 2 | Harper Partners advertises a payment of 50% of Harper’s commission to an appropriately licensed referring agent, paid 60 days after the account settles. It says the underlying commission varies by coverage line, premium and carrier. The percentage is a share of commission, not a discount on the buyer’s premium. 41 The reviewed Harper pages do not disclose a buyer-facing schedule of brokerage fees or account-specific commission rates. Its statement that partner agents can join for free does not establish that buying insurance through Harper carries no fees. Request an itemized total, including premium, taxes, fees and any financing charges. 41,43,35,28 |
