Corgi vs
Newfront
Compare Corgi’s startup packages with Newfront’s brokerage, acquisition support and contract-management services as a technology business adds another company.
Introduction
Corgi organizes technology-startup insurance around funding stages, with online purchasing, specialist help and dashboard changes. Its agency places policies with affiliated or partner insurers. 2 1 Newfront is a brokerage that combines business insurance with specialist advisory teams and policy-management tools. Its acquisition practice includes due diligence, transaction liability and coordination of insurance and benefits after a deal. 30 45
A software business buying a smaller services company. The decision is whether updating the startup’s existing insurance is enough, or whether the transaction calls for a coordinated review of both companies’ policies, contracts and employee benefits. Corgi documents package upgrades as a company grows; Newfront documents a transaction-specific advisory service. That difference identifies work to commission, without establishing that every acquisition needs a new broker or transaction insurance. 2 45

Key Differences Between Corgi and Newfront
Acquisition Risks, Technology Coverage and Deal Insurance
The two providers overlap on familiar technology-company needs. Corgi markets technology errors and omissions, cyber and directors and officers liability. Newfront has cyber/technology and executive-risk practices that negotiate placements with insurers. The overlap supports a comparison of proposed policies, but a familiar coverage name does not settle whether the acquired company’s past services, new contracts or personnel are included. 2 34 33
For the buyer, give each advisor the proposed transaction structure, target-company policies and business descriptions before asking for higher limits. Ask which entity will be insured after closing, what happens to claims arising from earlier work, and which changes require insurer approval. Corgi’s illustrative D&O terms and Newfront’s placement services provide different starting materials for that review; neither is a substitute for the proposed acquisition-related wording. 5 45 25
Newfront separately offers representations-and-warranties, tax and contingent-liability insurance for transactions. These address deal-related questions beyond simply raising the operating company’s cyber limit. Ask the deal team to identify the specific exposure before seeking that separate placement. Corgi’s startup catalogue does not establish comparable transaction-policy terms, but that absence does not establish that its team cannot arrange or refer additional help. 45 2 1
Contract Review, Vendor Certificates and Binding
After closing, the buyer may inherit a larger set of customer and vendor contracts. Corgi describes a dashboard for adding coverage as contracts and operations change. Newfront’s Contract Review tool extracts insurance requirements, relates them to existing coverage and alerts its team. Its Partner Management tool tracks vendors’ certificates, expirations and follow-up. Those are distinct administrative jobs: changing your insurance, checking a customer requirement and monitoring someone else’s evidence of insurance. 2 54 53
One inherited customer contract and one vendor certificate can demonstrate the tools, with sensitive information handled under the agreed process. Ask who reviews a flagged requirement and who obtains the necessary endorsement. Newfront’s feature descriptions document intended functions, not proven detection of every coverage gap; Corgi expressly says certificates do not change policy terms. A completed certificate task therefore should not be treated as a completed coverage change. 54 53 1
Newfront’s general terms make Navigator coverage changes preliminary until the carrier provides written approval. Corgi’s disclaimers contain conflicting binding language: they require an issued policy and premium in one statement while recognizing temporary coverage through written binders in another. For closing, request the actual written evidence of effective coverage and outstanding conditions from either provider, rather than relying on a submitted request. 25 1
Benefits Coordination, Exit Terms and Budgets
Newfront’s acquisition service includes ongoing benefits coordination. That may be useful when the acquired company brings its own plans, while Corgi’s startup liability package addresses a different part of the transaction. If Newfront is engaged for both, obtain distinct scopes, renewal dates and compensation disclosures for business insurance and Total Rewards. Newfront’s published benefits contract should not be applied to an unrelated property-and-casualty engagement. 45 48 2
Total Rewards agreements renew annually unless written nonrenewal notice is given at least 60 days in advance. Termination for convenience is allowed during renewal terms with 60 days’ written notice; the client must retain Newfront as broker of record through the current agreement term. Separately, a participating Block Strategy client ending the agreement for convenience during an active affected policy can owe an early-exit fee based on remaining premium savings. 48
Calendar a benefits-service exit separately from the deal closing and each insurance-policy renewal. Before choosing a replacement provider, agree who will maintain access to plan information and handle ongoing work while any broker-of-record or payment obligations continue. That continuation plan belongs with the benefits order form. 48
Corgi publishes illustrative startup prices and discloses possible commissions or producer fees. Newfront does not supply a standard business-insurance price schedule in the reviewed materials. Its statement that Partner Management is included without extra cost concerns that tool within a service agreement, not free brokerage. Request an acquisition-specific budget separating premiums, advisory charges, producer remuneration and benefits expenses. 2 1 30 53 48
Issuing Insurers and Claims Advocacy
Newfront’s place within WTW establishes group ownership, not the insurer on a proposed policy. Corgi similarly requires a distinction between its agency and issuing entities. If Corgi proposes Technology Risk Retention Group, it says that entity has no AM Best rating, and risk retention group policies lack state guaranty-fund protection. Corgi also describes eligible admitted/partner alternatives. Apply any acquired contract’s insurer requirements to the actual proposed issuer on either side. 24 25 1 20
Newfront describes pre-loss reporting protocols and advocacy over coverage reservations, counsel and reimbursement. Corgi directs claims through its claims team and applicable affiliated or third-party administrators. For a claim involving work before the acquisition, ask who will identify the relevant policy and preserve its reporting requirements. Newfront’s described advocacy is a service to evaluate; it does not make the broker the paying insurer or prove better claim outcomes. 56 1
What to Confirm in Quotes
- An entity and policy transition schedule: target and buyer policies, prior-work treatment, proposed endorsements, effective dates and written approval requirements. 45 25 5
- A contract-review assignment: customer insurance requirements, vendor-certificate responsibilities and a named person who resolves flagged coverage changes. 54 53 1
- Separate engagement budgets: operating insurance, any transaction placement and benefits, including insurer identity and the benefits agreement’s notice, fee and broker-of-record obligations. 45 48 1
- A post-closing claims protocol: which team handles a new incident or a demand concerning earlier work, and where notice must go under each retained or replacement policy. 56 1
Service Comparison
Corgi vs Newfront: documented services and availability
| Criteria | Corgi | Newfront |
|---|---|---|
| Customer focus | Corgi offers business insurance for technology companies and startups, with packages for pre-seed and seed, Series A, and growth-stage businesses, plus a custom option. 2,3,6,15 In August 2026, Corgi announced product filings for offices, retail, restaurants, personal services, self-storage, wholesalers, community associations, and small rental properties. Availability depends on the product and state. 9 | Newfront is an insurance brokerage for businesses, from early-stage companies to established enterprises. It helps buyers arrange business insurance, manage employee benefits, and coordinate risk management with a specialist team and online tools. Its practices include technology, life sciences, construction, financial services, and public-sector organizations. 23,30,46 |
| Application process | You can apply online or book a call with a Corgi specialist. Corgi says eligible applicants can get a quote in minutes and buy coverage the same day. Its disclosures describe both an issued-policy-and-payment condition and temporary coverage under a written binder. Confirm the applicable conditions and effective date in writing. 2,1 | The public buying path starts with a consultation request. The form asks for your role, company, contact details, industry, employee count, and the service you need. It does not display a premium or bind coverage. 31 Newfront describes assembling a team for your industry, reviewing your business and risk exposures, and presenting that information to underwriters. Its technology practice describes onboarding and renewal reviews, with additional market shopping when appropriate. The reviewed public pages do not promise a universal quote or binding turnaround. 30,51,31 Some online services may require you to appoint Newfront as broker of record—the broker designated to service your insurance. Ask which tools and services are included before signing that appointment. 25 Life-science clients can use Newfront’s Clinical Trial Portal to check country requirements, upload documents, and request quotes. The public description does not establish automatic approval or a guaranteed time to receive coverage. 40 |
| Servicing and renewals | Corgi says customers can add or upgrade policies through its dashboard as they raise funding, hire, or sign larger contracts. Renewal and cancellation terms depend on the policy and state rules. 2,1 | Newfront says Navigator brings together policy documents, certificates, claims information, payment tools, and communication with the service team. Its Executive Risk page describes renewal submissions pre-filled with historical data and document sharing with access controls. 52,33 A policy or coverage change requested through Navigator remains preliminary until the applicable carrier approves it and provides written confirmation. A submitted request is not evidence that the new coverage is in force. 25 Newfront says its Partner Management tool is included in client service agreements at no additional cost. It tracks vendor certificates, expiration dates, compliance issues, and follow-up activity inside Navigator. This is a statement about that tool, not a promise of free brokerage services. 53 Newfront’s Contract Review tool extracts insurance requirements, compares them with current policies, provides source citations, and notifies the Newfront team. Its Coverage Gap Analysis tool supports the team’s policy reviews. These are company-described functions; the reviewed materials do not independently establish accuracy or prove that all gaps will be detected. 54,55 Newfront’s March 2026 privacy notice describes integration with WTW as ongoing and anticipates substantial integration by year-end, subject to legal and contractual limits. That is a stated plan, not confirmation that systems, data practices, or service agreements have already been unified. 26 |
| Fees and compensation | Corgi Insurance Services may receive commissions or fees from the insurer or the customer. You can ask for the type and amount of compensation on your policy. 1 Corgi lists typical annual prices of $2,000–$5,000 for eligible pre-seed and seed startups and $5,000–$15,000 for Series A companies. Your price depends on the business, state, coverage, limits, and other underwriting details. 2,6,7 | A standard business-insurance fee schedule, commission percentage, or premium range was not found in the reviewed business, consultation, and general-terms pages. Request an account-specific disclosure of brokerage fees, insurer commissions, other remuneration, and any separately billed services. 30,31,25 For Total Rewards, the order form sets compensation. The published terms allow insurer-paid commissions or client fees and disclose additional carrier compensation tied to the wider book of business. They also address non-cash compensation, retained unused carrier funds, and separate pass-through expenses. Newfront says supplemental commissions will not affect its recommendations. 48 Total Rewards agreements renew annually unless written nonrenewal notice is given at least 60 days in advance. 48 |
| Claims assistance | Corgi describes a claims team that helps with reporting an incident, documentation, legal coordination, and progress updates. An affiliated team or third-party administrator may handle the claim; the insurer named in the policy remains responsible for coverage decisions and payment. 1,2,12 | Newfront describes helping establish reporting protocols before a loss, reviewing how a policy may respond, and acting as the buyer’s liaison with the carrier. Its advocates address coverage-reservation and denial letters, counsel selection, vendor rates, reimbursement, and allocation disputes. This documents claims assistance, not a promise that a claim will be paid. 56 |
