CFC vs Kinro

Compare a CFC technology submission with Kinro’s policy-review and renewal-shopping service without assuming the same professional coverage.

Introduction

A bootstrapped developer approaching renewal may want to start with its existing policy rather than complete a new application immediately. Kinro offers that review route and says it shops at renewal; CFC’s documented technology process starts from a detailed broker-submitted application. The question is whether a replacement proposal preserves the insured work and prior coverage, not whether uploading fewer documents means equivalent protection. 33 30 3

Key Differences Between CFC and Kinro

A Review Service and an Underwriting Submission Answer Different Questions

Kinro accepts declarations pages, policies or renewal packets for its advertised free review. Its price-and-coverage improvement language is a company claim, not a tested result. CFC’s application asks about products, contracts, hosting, security controls and IP practices. Use the old policy to identify what is expiring, then reconcile the current business rather than copying last year’s description into a new submission. 33 3

Kinro separately describes professional-liability and cyber inputs. The reviewed catalogue does not establish that its general professional-liability offering is the same as CFC’s technology E&O package. Ask whether the proposed form covers the developer’s specific technology services and how cyber is included or placed alongside it; an unlisted technology label is not evidence Kinro cannot arrange it. 43 44 2

Clarify Who Is Advising the Buyer

Kinro’s site identifies Kinro Insurance Services LLC, but other public terms use Kinro, Inc. and Kinro AI, including terms for selling AI sales technology. That unresolved contract scope matters before treating a website agreement as the buyer’s brokerage engagement. Request the applicable retail agreement and producer identity. 35 34

CFC’s disclosures distinguish its underwriting entity and US producer. A CFC application still returns to an insurance broker, whose account duties need to be specified. Kinro’s displayed market brands do not establish a CFC placement route or the legal insurer behind any replacement quote. 4 3 39

Renewal Shopping Needs a Continuity Plan

Kinro describes renewal shopping and text-based document support, while its reviewed sources do not establish dedicated claims-reporting instructions. CFC provides separate general claims and cyber incident channels. Before replacing coverage, document both the new policy’s notice requirements and how earlier work or known circumstances will be handled; service messages alone are not a claims procedure. 30 34 48 8

Kinro’s free review does not establish a fee-free placement: it discloses possible placement compensation without an account-specific schedule. CFC’s reviewed technology materials also leave buyer charges unresolved. Compare the final written totals, not Kinro’s general consultant benchmarks against an individually underwritten CFC offer. 47 46 2

What to Confirm in Quotes

  • Does the proposed professional form expressly address software development, hosting and client contracts, and how does it connect to cyber coverage? 43 3
  • Which Kinro agreement and producer apply, and which insurer will issue the replacement? California authority remains a confirmation task. 35 50 4
  • Who owns the renewal comparison, prior-work continuity, claims instructions and full compensation disclosure? 30 47 8

Service Comparison

CFC vs Kinro: documented services and availability

CriteriaCFCKinro
Business role

CFC is a specialist insurance provider operating an MGA model: a managing general agent performs underwriting functions for insurance capacity providers. Its disclosures identify CFC Underwriting Limited and the U.S. producer CFC USA, Inc.; the CFC brand should not be treated as the name of every policy’s insurer. 5,4

Kinro’s website identifies Kinro Insurance Services LLC and displays National Producer Number (NPN) 22233799. It describes the business as a commercial insurance brokerage: the intermediary helping arrange coverage. The insurer issuing your policy is a separate role. 34,39

Kinro’s public pages use several names: the footer names Kinro Insurance Services LLC, text-message disclosures name Kinro, Inc., and the Terms of Service name Kinro AI. Those terms describe selling AI sales-agent technology to financial-services companies under commercial orders. They do not clearly explain how those names or contracts relate to an insurance buyer’s agency agreement. 35,34

Kinro also offers market access and technology to independent agencies and agents. Its partner page says they retain the customer relationship, subject to their written agreement. Its separate commercial-placement service asks the parties to allocate advice, binding, billing, endorsements, certificates, renewals, and communication before placing business. 37,38

Application process

The U.S. technology application asks a senior staff member to complete it and return it to the company’s insurance broker. It requests revenue, funding, subsidiaries, products, major contracts, security controls, IP procedures and claims history. CFC’s Connect portal separately supports broker trading and describes a broker appointment process. 3,6

Kinro’s public “Start a new quote” page opens without a login and begins with a business-activity selector, labeled step 1 of 4. Later application steps, quote results, payment, and binding were not inspected. 31

Kinro says AI helps collect information and present available quote options, with licensed-agent support. Its homepage describes agent follow-up after submission and advertises a roughly two-minute reply. That is a response-time claim, not a verified deadline for receiving or binding insurance. 30

Kinro offers a free review starting with an upload of a declarations page, renewal packet, or policy. It accepts up to three PDF, PNG, or JPG files, each up to 25 MB. Its promise to seek a better price with equivalent or higher coverage is a company claim; no replacement quote or coverage comparison was tested. 33

Access to insurers

CFC’s regulatory page identifies Lloyd’s Syndicate 1988, managed by Asta Managing Agency Ltd. The reviewed U.S. technology materials do not name the insurer or participating syndicates for a California buyer’s actual policy; ask for those names on the quote and declarations. 4,2,3

Kinro says it works with more than 50 companies and displays brands including Progressive, GEICO, AmTrust, Pie, Coterie, and NEXT. Its carrier-partner page makes access and binding authority conditional on approvals. The logos do not identify the legal insurer that would issue a particular buyer’s policy. 30,39

Servicing and renewals

CFC says its cyber service includes threat monitoring and alerts, a response app and round-the-clock technical incident support. These are company-described services; access, scope and any conditions should be checked against the proposed policy. 7

The reviewed Connect and technology application pages do not specify a customer-facing renewal timetable, certificate turnaround or dedicated account-management commitment for California technology buyers. Confirm those arrangements with the placing broker. 6,3

Kinro says it shops the market at renewal. Its text-update service describes links to policy documents and certificates, renewal reminders, and replies to coverage questions. These are published service descriptions, not measured turnaround times. 30,34

Kinro’s text sign-up separates service-message consent from optional marketing consent and offers STOP to unsubscribe. Its privacy policy separately discloses visitor-identification partners that may connect browsing activity with email addresses or online profiles for marketing. The mobile opt-in protections should not be read as a blanket promise that website visits cannot lead to marketing. 34,36

Fees and compensation

The reviewed U.S. technology brochure, application and Connect page do not disclose a buyer-specific premium, producer commission rate, broker fee or complete schedule of policy charges. Request a written breakdown of premium, taxes, fees and intermediary compensation before purchase. 2,3,6

Kinro discloses that it may receive compensation when it places a policy. Its agency-partner page also describes commissions, with the basis, deductions, chargebacks, and payment timing set by agreement. The reviewed disclosures do not state what Kinro or another producer would earn on your policy, or whether your purchase would include a separate buyer-paid fee. 47,37

For consultants, Kinro publishes monthly benchmarks of $25–$35 for general liability, $50–$65 for professional liability, and $90–$105 for cyber. It labels these market benchmarks, not quotes or guaranteed prices. They do not specify a matched insurer, limit, deductible, and policy form for your business. 46
