CFC vs
Embroker
Compare CFC’s technology package with Embroker’s management suite, IP wording questions and renewal transition.
Introduction
A startup renewing technology coverage while raising a round may also need D&O and employment-practices protection. CFC’s technology package and Embroker’s Management Insurance Suite present different ways to organize those requests. EMIS allows selected management coverages and eligible technology E&O/cyber in one application; CFC’s technology brochure addresses a defined set of operating liabilities. The useful comparison is the resulting coverage architecture, not the application count. 38 2

Key Differences Between CFC and Embroker
Management Packaging Does Not Resolve California Appetite
Embroker names Everspan Indemnity Insurance Company for EMIS. That relationship is product-specific, while Embroker also performs brokerage and delegated program work. CFC operates an MGA model but its reviewed technology materials do not identify the insurer for the buyer’s actual California policy. Ask for the insurer separately for each proposed section or policy. 38 31 5 4
CFC’s management-liability brochure declines California-domiciled business. Embroker’s state license list does not independently prove EMIS eligibility for that same business. A financing deadline calls for confirmed board coverage, not an inference from a national agency list or a broader technology appetite. 11 34 31
Resolve IP Wording Before Comparing Technology Limits
CFC’s US technology brochure describes IP infringement and media liability. Embroker’s public documentation preserves a discrepancy: its retail technology page lists IP-related exclusions while the broker program advertises software-code infringement coverage. This is a reason to obtain the exact proposed wording and endorsements, not to declare that one brand always covers IP and the other never does. 2 41 40
For a company promising indemnities to enterprise customers, ask which rights and allegations are covered and whether contractual obligations exceed the policy response. CFC also markets a separate IP product; its broader defense and enforcement description should not be imported into the technology package. 14 2
Renewal Can Mean a New Application or a Different Broker Route
Embroker says existing customers can renew legacy management products, but moving to EMIS requires a new-business application. Its FAQ also warns that a replacement broker outside Embroker Access may be unable to renew proprietary products. Review those transition choices before changing both coverage and broker in the same renewal cycle. 38 33
CFC’s form returns to the insurance broker, and Connect supports broker trading. The reviewed sources do not establish universal renewal portability or certificate service commitments. Obtain the broker’s renewal plan alongside the underwriting proposal instead of assuming that either platform guarantees continuity. 3 6
What to Confirm in Quotes
- Specify EMIS versus legacy products and the proposed California management route before scheduling a broker change. 38 33 11
- Resolve software-code infringement, media claims and contractual indemnities against the actual technology forms. 40 41 2
- Identify insurer, retroactive dates, reporting continuity and all compensation or payment charges for the selected combination. 32 31 3
Service Comparison
CFC vs Embroker: documented services and availability
| Criteria | CFC | Embroker |
|---|---|---|
| Business role | CFC is a specialist insurance provider operating an MGA model: a managing general agent performs underwriting functions for insurance capacity providers. Its disclosures identify CFC Underwriting Limited and the U.S. producer CFC USA, Inc.; the CFC brand should not be treated as the name of every policy’s insurer. 5,4 | Embroker Insurance Services LLC is the producer named in its public lawyers’ liability specimen. Florida’s corporate record lists Embroker, Inc. as the LLC’s authorized member. That identifies a corporate relationship, not the insurer on your policy. 44,36 Embroker distributes proprietary programs through its own channel and through other brokers using Embroker Access. Its terms also allow it to perform underwriting work for insurers under their guidelines; the issuing insurer bears the policy obligations. 39,31 The reviewed corporate record identifies Embroker, Inc. as an authorized member of the producer LLC; it does not establish Embroker, Inc.’s ultimate beneficial ownership. 36 |
| Access to insurers | CFC’s regulatory page identifies Lloyd’s Syndicate 1988, managed by Asta Managing Agency Ltd. The reviewed U.S. technology materials do not name the insurer or participating syndicates for a California buyer’s actual policy; ask for those names on the quote and declarations. 4,2,3 | Embroker names Everspan Indemnity Insurance Company as the insurer for EMIS and its excess Tech E&O/Cyber program. Its lawyers’ professional liability program names Everest National Insurance Company. These are product-specific relationships, not one carrier for the entire catalogue. 38,42,43,44 |
| Application process | The U.S. technology application asks a senior staff member to complete it and return it to the company’s insurance broker. It requests revenue, funding, subsidiaries, products, major contracts, security controls, IP procedures and claims history. CFC’s Connect portal separately supports broker trading and describes a broker appointment process. 3,6 | The public quote-start screen asks for a company name and whether the company has a website. It links the terms and compensation disclosure before continuing. 55 An account alone does not appoint Embroker as your broker. Using its brokerage service requires a broker- or agent-of-record designation and exclusive work with Embroker for those services unless otherwise agreed. 31 An application may need additional underwriting information or be declined; a quote itself does not put insurance in force. 31 |
| Servicing and renewals | CFC says its cyber service includes threat monitoring and alerts, a response app and round-the-clock technical incident support. These are company-described services; access, scope and any conditions should be checked against the proposed policy. 7 The reviewed Connect and technology application pages do not specify a customer-facing renewal timetable, certificate turnaround or dedicated account-management commitment for California technology buyers. Confirm those arrangements with the placing broker. 6,3 | EMIS replaces the two previous management-liability offerings for new customers. Embroker says existing policyholders can continue renewing their legacy products; switching to EMIS requires a new-business application. 38 The FAQ describes downloadable policies and certificates for accounts where Embroker is the broker of record. Custom certificate wording may require a policy endorsement first. 33 Renewals vary: some policies renew through the insurer, while others need a fresh application and underwriting. Embroker describes reviewing the proposal, accepting it and paying or arranging financing; the new policy’s effective date controls when the renewal begins. 33 If you move to another broker, Embroker says you lose account-based certificate issuance and policy-change functions. A replacement broker outside Embroker Access may also be unable to renew proprietary products. 33 |
| Availability | CFC reports that CFC USA, Inc. holds producer licenses in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., plus excess and surplus lines authorization in California, Georgia, New York and Texas. It identifies its California licensing name as CFC General Insurance Agency, Inc. This is CFC’s disclosure, not an independently checked California license record or confirmation of product eligibility. 4 CFC’s January 2026 U.S. management-liability brochure lists California-domiciled business and standalone employment practices liability under risks it declines. This restriction is specific to the described management-liability offering; it does not establish a California exclusion for every CFC product. 11 The reviewed U.S. technology page, brochure and application do not establish the currently available admitted or surplus-lines route for a particular California startup. CFC announced admitted technology E&O in 2023, but the reviewed materials do not supply a current California product eligibility schedule. 1,2,3,29 | Embroker publishes license numbers for all 50 states and Washington, D.C. That company list is not a product-availability map. Its terms make eligibility dependent on location and risk; this research did not independently verify the complete license list. 34,31,35 |
