Harper vs Relm Insurance

Compare placement help for operationally complex businesses with cover for the AI systems they build or use.

Introduction

A manufacturer or service operator adopting AI can face hard-to-place operational risks and new technology exposures at the same time. Harper is a commercial brokerage that uses AI to assist its placement work; Relm markets insurance addressing AI-related risks. The fact that both discuss AI says little about whether they are solving the same problem. 3 8 19

Key Differences Between Harper and Relm Insurance

AI in the Brokerage Process or in the Insured Business

Harper says its tools extract information, draft messages and organize follow-ups, with professionals and carriers reviewing final decisions. That describes how it works on a submission. Relm’s NOVAAI and RESCAAI descriptions instead concern losses associated with developing or depending on AI. Ask Harper to identify the actual proposed policy before comparing its protection with a named Relm product. 3 25 27

For an operator with machines, drivers or care staff, Harper’s industry and coverage catalogue supplies a broader operational-placement starting point. Relm also lists casualty and property lines, but neither catalogue establishes that a single policy covers bodily injury, damaged equipment and lost income from an AI error. Break the scenario into those consequences when approaching the markets. 8 7 22

Payroll Service Does Not Follow from an AI Policy

Harper describes assistance with workers’ compensation payroll classification and premium-audit information. That service addresses changing job duties and payroll, which can remain important even if a separate AI policy is purchased. Relm’s AI products should not be treated as substitutes for that placement or its administration. This is a potential division of responsibilities, not evidence that Harper has Relm market access. 10 24

Harper’s referral program says it owns the account and handles service, while its separate wholesale route offers different arrangements. A founder introduced through another agent should establish who will coordinate an AI specialist with the operational program. Relm’s public sources do not assign those client-service tasks for a particular placement. 15 14 29

A Message Is Not a Binding Instruction

Harper’s text terms say messages cannot bind or change insurance and require written confirmation. Relm’s inquiry form likewise is not an observed online bind process. For a factory launch or customer go-live, obtain the effective date and outstanding requirements separately for each policy. Relm’s California AI issuer remains to be established. 2 29 20

What to Confirm in Quotes

  • Map the AI incident to customer financial loss, physical damage, employee injury and the business’s own interruption; identify the proposed form for each. 7 24
  • Ask which party handles payroll audits, policy changes and the AI market submission under the specific referral or wholesale arrangement. 10 15 14
  • Obtain binding confirmation, California insurer details and policy-specific urgent claims instructions rather than relying on a general text or portal message. 2 20 31

Service Comparison

Harper vs Relm Insurance: documented services and availability

CriteriaHarperRelm Insurance
Business role

Harper is a commercial insurance brokerage: it helps businesses find insurance from other companies and arrange the purchase. You can request a quote online or speak with a specialist, who gathers information, approaches insurers and explains the options. 2,9

Harper’s text-messaging terms identify the brokerage as Harper Global Enterprises Inc., doing business as Harper Global Insurance Agency. Its privacy policy instead names Harper Group Corp. The reviewed disclosures do not explain the corporate relationship between those names. 2,3

Harper separately markets wholesale access for other brokers, including specialty and non-admitted insurers. That page claims binding authority on selected programs but does not identify the delegating insurers, products, states or authority limits. It is not evidence that Harper itself bears the insured risk. 14

Relm Insurance is a specialty insurance business serving emerging industries, including artificial intelligence. Its Bermuda insurer and US distribution operation have distinct roles. 19,21,20

Relm identifies Relm Insurance Ltd. as its Bermuda-regulated insurer and Relm US Insurance Solutions Inc. as a US licensed producer. It describes its US operation as a managing general agent (MGA), an intermediary with delegated insurance authority. The Bermuda entity says it deals only through appropriately licensed brokers. 20,21

Application process

The public quote form asks for your contact and business details, state, estimated annual revenue, business activity and requested coverage. It includes an existing-customer checkbox and a text-message consent choice. The visible form starts an inquiry; it does not display a final premium or issued policy. 1

The founders describe Harper Hub as internal software that helps complete forms, identify carriers and underwriters, and manage client communications. Their Y Combinator launch describes full autonomy as a direction for the business. 6

Harper’s privacy policy says AI extracts document information, drafts messages for review, organizes follow-ups and assists staff. It says licensed professionals and carriers review final decisions, including eligibility and binding. AI marketing therefore does not establish that a machine can approve your coverage on its own. 3

The privacy policy describes collecting applications, loss records and business documents. It also says customer communications and policy information train Harper’s own models, while its enterprise AI vendors state they do not train their foundation models on customer data. These are different uses of your information. 3

Harper’s messaging terms say a text cannot bind, change, renew or cancel insurance. Coverage takes effect only with written confirmation from Harper and the applicable carrier; quotes sent by text remain subject to underwriting and final documentation. 2

Harper’s February 2026 announcement advertises coverage within 24–48 hours. That is a company timing claim, not a deadline established for your application. Ask what information and approvals are still outstanding before arranging work around a proposed start date. 13

Relm provides an inquiry form requesting contact details, company name and location. Its US launch describes access through distribution partners, and the website states that Relm Insurance Ltd. deals through licensed brokers. The reviewed pages do not establish instant quoting or online binding. 29,21

Servicing and renewals

For workers’ compensation, Harper says it helps classify payroll by the work employees perform and prepares information for premium audits. Its cost FAQ identifies payroll, job categories and claims history as pricing factors. An audit can reconcile the information used to price the policy; Harper’s service description is not a promise that your premium cannot change. 10,18

Under that referral program, Harper says it owns the account and handles quoting, placement, servicing, renewals and claims; the referring agent has no servicing duties. Its separate wholesale page offers white-label options. If another agent introduces you, clarify which arrangement applies and who will be your ongoing contact. 15,14

Harper’s public portal entry page advertises access to certificates, policies, payments and application status. Sign-in uses the email address associated with a Harper invitation; the page directs customers without an invitation to its service team. Features behind sign-in were not tested. 16

Harper describes ongoing policy management and annual coverage reviews. Its messaging terms list reminders about renewals, billing and premium finance, along with communications about changes and certificates. These service descriptions do not specify a guaranteed renewal price or a commitment to re-shop every policy. 17,2

The reviewed contact and terms pages provide general-inquiry and complaint channels but do not explain a customer self-service portal, certificate turnaround, endorsement process or renewal timetable. Ask which tasks your broker, the MGA and the issuing insurer will handle. 29,31

Claims assistance

Harper says its team assists with claims documentation and communication, and advocates with the carrier. This describes brokerage assistance. The insurer named in the policy remains the company responsible for covered losses; claims support is not a promise that a claim will be paid. 17,18

A dedicated claims-reporting procedure, after-hours response commitment and policy-specific notice address were not established in the reviewed Harper sources. Obtain those instructions with your policy. Harper’s messaging terms warn against relying on texts for urgent matters. 17,16,2

Relm says its claims team manages claims and offers a dedicated concierge within 24 hours of notification. This is a company service statement, not an independently measured response or settlement record. Its terms name Crawford & Co. for global claims response and KSW for US response; confirm the notice instructions in the actual policy. 30,31
