Embroker vs Travelers

When a funded startup comparing Embroker’s online broker and proprietary programs should still route statutory and technology lines through an independent Travelers producer.

Introduction

A funded software company that needs directors and officers (D&O) coverage, technology errors and omissions (E&O), and workers compensation can start Embroker’s signup flow or ask an independent agent about Travelers. Embroker Insurance Services LLC arranges coverage with insurers and runs programs such as the Embroker Management Insurance Suite (EMIS) on Everspan paper; Travelers underwrites its own affiliates and distributes business insurance through independent producers. Those are different contracting paths. 1 2 33 27

Where Each Provider Shines

Where Embroker Shines

  • Its Management Insurance Suite brings several management coverages into one application, with technology E&O/cyber for eligible technology businesses. 9
  • Separate technology and law-firm packages group coverage around those businesses’ activities, subject to the offered policy terms. 17,16

Where Travelers Shines

  • Travelers markets technology insurance to startups and established tech companies, with CyberRisk Tech that can combine cyber and technology E&O. 27,30,28
  • U.S. business insurance is sold through independent agents; many small risks can be quoted and issued in an agent platform, while specialty technology accounts still need underwriting. 32,49,27,29,55,48

Key Differences Between Embroker and Travelers Insurance

Online Broker with Programs Versus Insurer Brand

Embroker Insurance Services LLC is the producer named in its public lawyers’ liability specimen. Florida’s corporate record lists Embroker, Inc. as the LLC’s authorized member. That identifies a corporate relationship, not the insurer on your policy. 15,7

Travelers is a property-casualty insurance group. The Travelers Companies, Inc. is the public holding company; policies are issued by subsidiaries such as The Travelers Indemnity Company and affiliates, not by the holding company itself. 54,55,47,33

Embroker’s terms say using its brokerage service requires a broker-of-record designation unless otherwise agreed. Travelers says its producers are not employees and that policies issue from subsidiaries such as The Travelers Indemnity Company. A Travelers CyberRisk Tech quote names a Travelers affiliate on the declarations; an Embroker EMIS quote names Everspan Indemnity Insurance Company. 2 9 51

Management Suite and Tech Appetite Versus Travelers Catalogue

Embroker’s August 2026 Management Insurance Suite bundles D&O, employment practices, fiduciary liability and, for eligible technology companies, Tech E&O/Cyber in one application. Its broker Tech E&O program targets private technology companies below $300 million in revenue and excludes crypto, blockchain and cannabis. Travelers lists CyberRisk Tech, a technology-services BOP, workers compensation, commercial auto and umbrella on its technology pages—marketed offerings, not guaranteed eligibility for every SaaS account. 9 11 29 28

Embroker’s retail technology E&O page and its Access broker program describe intellectual-property coverage differently; request the proposed form. Travelers technology E&O is described inside the CyberRisk Tech family on Travelers technology pages. 12 29

Who Quotes, What Fees Apply and How Claims Route

The public Embroker quote start asks for a company name and website before continuing. Travelers tells business buyers to consult an independent agent; its Form 10-K describes automated quote-bind-issue for many Select Accounts small risks while specialty technology accounts still need underwriting. 26 55 32

Embroker discloses commissions, contingent compensation and possible client fees approved before binding. Travelers discloses producer compensation types but not a buyer technology fee. Embroker directs active cyber events to a policy hotline and other claims to insurer contacts; Travelers describes 24/7 business reporting and a Technology claim unit since 1998—intake paths, not comparative payment quality. 3 19 33 42

What to Confirm in Quotes

  • Whether Embroker is offering EMIS/Everspan paper, a legacy Embroker program, or shopping Travelers through another market. 9 32
  • Workers compensation: Embroker lists it in its catalogue; confirm the issuing carrier and state eligibility separately from a Travelers WC quote. 8 51
  • Tech E&O versus CyberRisk Tech form family and any AI endorsement applicability. 12 29
  • Broker-of-record exclusivity if you also want a local Travelers agent. 2
  • Client fees, financing charges and Travelers premium as separate line items. 3 31

Service Comparison

Embroker vs Travelers Insurance: documented services and availability

CriteriaEmbrokerTravelers
Business role

Embroker Insurance Services LLC is the producer named in its public lawyers’ liability specimen. Florida’s corporate record lists Embroker, Inc. as the LLC’s authorized member. That identifies a corporate relationship, not the insurer on your policy. 15,7

Embroker distributes proprietary programs through its own channel and through other brokers using Embroker Access. Its terms also allow it to perform underwriting work for insurers under their guidelines; the issuing insurer bears the policy obligations. 10,2

The reviewed corporate record identifies Embroker, Inc. as an authorized member of the producer LLC; it does not establish Embroker, Inc.’s ultimate beneficial ownership. 7

Travelers is a property-casualty insurance group. The Travelers Companies, Inc. is the public holding company; policies are issued by subsidiaries such as The Travelers Indemnity Company and affiliates, not by the holding company itself. 54,55,47,33

Travelers says it primarily sells U.S. insurance through independent agents and brokers, whom it calls producers and who are not Travelers employees. It also owns Simply Business, Inc. and InsuraMatch, LLC, licensed digital independent agencies it says operate nationwide. 33,32,55

Coverage lines

Embroker’s August 2026 Management Insurance Suite (EMIS) brings D&O, employment practices, fiduciary liability and, for eligible technology companies, Tech E&O/Cyber into one application. Buyers may select individual coverages or a bundle. 9

The broker Tech E&O/Cyber program targets private, for-profit technology companies with revenue below $300 million. It requires multifactor authentication for accounts above $5 million in revenue and excludes businesses involved in crypto, blockchain or cannabis. 11

Embroker’s retail Tech E&O page lists intellectual-property infringement, copyright and libel among exclusions, while its broker program advertises software-code infringement coverage. The public descriptions do not reconcile that difference; request the proposed form and endorsements for your activities. 12,11

Embroker describes an AI endorsement for eligible Tech E&O/Cyber quotes addressing AI services, discrimination allegations and regulatory-investigation defense. It advertises up to $150,000 for algorithm-removal expenses. Obtain the endorsement to check triggers, exclusions and how that sublimit relates to the policy limit. 18

Embroker Access advertises up to $5 million of excess Tech E&O/Cyber above eligible underlying insurance. Its appetite requires a primary limit of at least $1 million and Tech E&O, with or without cyber; cyber-only underlying insurance is ineligible. 13

The retail Tech E&O FAQ says Embroker’s excess product cannot sit above an Embroker primary policy. An Embroker primary buyer therefore needs a separate answer about how to obtain higher limits. 12

The broker lawyers’ professional liability (LPL) program lists firms with 1–25 attorneys, no claims or law-license disciplinary actions, a physical address and risk-management and docket controls. It advertises pre-claim assistance without a deductible and defense-cost options. 14

The public Everest LPL specimen uses claims-made coverage: its insuring agreement ties protection to when a claim is made and reported and to a retroactive date for the underlying work. Its base wording makes claim expenses reduce the liability limit. Current marketing also describes defense costs outside the limit, so check which endorsements your quote includes. 15,14

The main catalogue offers business owner’s policies, general liability, commercial crime, cyber, D&O, employment practices, fiduciary liability, professional liability (including lawyers’ liability), Tech E&O/Cyber and workers’ compensation. 8

Embroker also has direct offerings for commercial auto, commercial property, product liability, surety bonds and key person life insurance, plus venture capital asset protection (VCAP) for investment firms. 21,22,24,23,20,25

The technology package combines Tech E&O/Cyber with a business owner’s policy. The law-firm package groups lawyers’ professional liability, cyber, a business owner’s policy and workers’ compensation. The package names do not establish identical terms across industries. 17,16

On its technology pages, Travelers lists CyberRisk Tech (technology E&O and cyber options, including media and regulatory-proceedings agreements on the cyber page), Global Companion Plus+, general liability, commercial property, workers compensation, commercial auto and umbrella. Other current offering pages list a small-business technology-services BOP, management-liability lines (D&O, EPL, fiduciary, fidelity and crime, kidnap and ransom), professional E&O, inland marine including cargo, equipment breakdown, surety and commercial umbrella/excess including a Northfield surplus-lines option. 27,29,28,34,53,39,41,40,52

Access to insurers

Embroker names Everspan Indemnity Insurance Company as the insurer for EMIS and its excess Tech E&O/Cyber program. Its lawyers’ professional liability program names Everest National Insurance Company. These are product-specific relationships, not one carrier for the entire catalogue. 9,13,14,15

Travelers is the brand. Product footers name The Travelers Indemnity Company and its property-casualty affiliates, and Bond & Specialty pages name Travelers Casualty and Surety Company of America and affiliates. Umbrella materials also describe Northfield excess-and-surplus coverage for some hard-to-place risks. The issuing company, admitted or surplus status, and any fronting or network partner remain quote-specific. 33,51,35,52,45

Application process

The public quote-start screen asks for a company name and whether the company has a website. It links the terms and compensation disclosure before continuing. 26

An account alone does not appoint Embroker as your broker. Using its brokerage service requires a broker- or agent-of-record designation and exclusive work with Embroker for those services unless otherwise agreed. 2

An application may need additional underwriting information or be declined; a quote itself does not put insurance in force. 2

Travelers tells business buyers to get a quote through an independent agent, using a public agency locator. Its 2025 Form 10-K says Select Accounts uses an automated underwriting platform so agents can quote, bind and issue a substantial amount of small-business risks, while more complex risks are underwritten with company personnel. Technology and CyberRisk Tech pages likewise tell buyers to consult an agent or Travelers representative; a direct public bind path for technology packages was not found on the reviewed pages. 32,49,27,29,55,48

Fees and compensation

Embroker’s software is free. Insurance services can generate insurer commissions, contingent compensation linked to business results, and supplemental commissions. Embroker may also negotiate client fees alongside or instead of commissions, approved before binding, usually in writing. 3

Payment processors and premium-finance lenders can add their own charges. Ask for the total cost and installment terms separately from Embroker’s compensation. 2

Travelers discloses that it generally pays independent producers a base commission as a percentage of premium, and may also pay contingent compensation, value-based amounts, production incentives, promotional reimbursements, strategic-relationship amounts or service fees. It might not pay all, or any, of those types on a given placement. Percentages vary by business, risk and state. Account-specific amounts are directed to the buyer’s agent or broker. 33

The reviewed public pages do not publish a standard premium, deductible schedule or buyer-paid broker fee for technology insurance. Travelers states that cost depends on coverage types, limits and the business’s risks, location and size, and tells buyers to work with an insurance professional. 31,51,33
