CFC vs
WithCoverage
Compare CFC technology insurance with WithCoverage’s outsourced risk-management engagement when reviewing an existing program.
Introduction
A finance lead with several existing policies may be deciding whether to replace one technology policy or change how the entire program is managed. CFC offers a specialist technology package; WithCoverage offers an initial audit and ongoing brokerage/risk-management service. Start by defining the problem: a policy-wording gap calls for underwriting changes, while fragmented renewal and certificate work calls for a service arrangement as well. 2 33 30

Key Differences Between CFC and WithCoverage
Reviewing a Program Does Not Automatically Replace It
WithCoverage says its initial audit can proceed without leaving the current broker. Its portfolio offering separately describes a broker-of-record transfer, which changes the broker rather than the policy itself. Those are distinct steps: a favorable review is not authorization to cancel existing technology coverage or evidence that a replacement insurer has accepted it. 33 39
CFC’s application is an underwriting submission addressing activities, contracts and security. If a review leads to a proposed CFC placement, ask who will obtain and reconcile that information. The public records do not prove WithCoverage access to CFC, and a broker transfer alone would not create new CFC coverage. 3 40 39
An Advisory Fee Is Not the Whole Insurance Price
WithCoverage describes a typical agreed flat fee but also allows commission arrangements. Its terms permit other charges, so a flat-fee label does not make premium, financing and policy expenses disappear. CFC’s reviewed product and portal materials do not disclose a complete buyer cost schedule. Compare the full placement plus service engagement, not an advisory fee against an insurance premium. 34 32 2 6
WithCoverage’s savings presentation also needs its scope preserved: the solution page attaches a spending threshold to its advertised results, while some industry pages present the figure more broadly. A smaller startup cannot treat that as its expected savings or evidence that a CFC proposal is overpriced. 37 33
Retained Risk and Service Duties Should Be Written Down
WithCoverage describes a named risk manager handling renewals and certificates, and its advisor materials mention contract changes and larger deductibles as possible strategies. Ask which losses the business would retain after any redesign. CFC’s technology and cyber descriptions should be evaluated against that retained-risk plan rather than assuming more service always means more insurance. 36 40 2
WithCoverage’s portfolio page says it does not provide legal services, despite describing attorney involvement in its broader team. CFC describes technical cyber response. Clarify the boundary between advisory help, technical work and separately retained legal counsel before an incident. 39 37 7
What to Confirm in Quotes
- Specify whether the immediate task is an audit, a broker transfer or new insurance, with written authority and continuity for each step. 33 39 3
- Compare the full fee/commission and policy-charge schedule, cancellation obligations and any increased retained losses. 34 32 40
- Request the applicable privacy notice before uploading claims files; the reviewed Privacy link displayed terms text. Then assign legal, technical and claims-notice duties for the chosen policies. 44 39 8
Service Comparison
CFC vs WithCoverage: documented services and availability
| Criteria | CFC | WithCoverage |
|---|---|---|
| Business role | CFC is a specialist insurance provider operating an MGA model: a managing general agent performs underwriting functions for insurance capacity providers. Its disclosures identify CFC Underwriting Limited and the U.S. producer CFC USA, Inc.; the CFC brand should not be treated as the name of every policy’s insurer. 5,4 | WithCoverage combines commercial insurance brokerage, a risk-management team and software for growing businesses. You can have existing policies reviewed, compare insurance options and manage the program with its team. 30,31,38 The terms name With Coverage Inc. and With Coverage Insurance Services LLC. The latter also appears in a Mississippi corporate filing under insurance agencies and brokerages. These identify the business entities; the terms assign policy obligations to the issuing insurer. 32,43 |
| Application process | The U.S. technology application asks a senior staff member to complete it and return it to the company’s insurance broker. It requests revenue, funding, subsidiaries, products, major contracts, security controls, IP procedures and claims history. CFC’s Connect portal separately supports broker trading and describes a broker appointment process. 3,6 | WithCoverage offers an initial policy audit without requiring you to leave your broker. It says the review compares existing coverage, limits and premiums with market benchmarks. Its technology FAQ puts the assessment at usually one business day after receiving policy documents, with longer timing for multiple entities or locations. 33 The public review form starts with contact details and then asks about the company, industry and annual insurance spending. It requests a conversation about your program; it does not display an insurance price. 33 The portfolio page describes appointing WithCoverage on existing policies by signing a broker-of-record letter. This changes your broker, not the policy itself. The page says the transfer has no additional charge. 39 For its portfolio offering, WithCoverage describes a digital application transferred into insurers’ applications and an advisor-prepared comparison of options. 39 At the time of research, the page linked as Privacy Policy displayed the terms-of-service text rather than a separate detailed privacy notice. Before sharing policy or claims files, request the applicable privacy notice and document-retention terms. 44 |
| Servicing and renewals | CFC says its cyber service includes threat monitoring and alerts, a response app and round-the-clock technical incident support. These are company-described services; access, scope and any conditions should be checked against the proposed policy. 7 The reviewed Connect and technology application pages do not specify a customer-facing renewal timetable, certificate turnaround or dedicated account-management commitment for California technology buyers. Confirm those arrangements with the placing broker. 6,3 | WithCoverage describes a named risk manager backed by attorneys and claims specialists, handling renewals, certificates of insurance and account questions. Its platform brings policies, claims, certificates, exposures and renewal communications together. 36,30 The portfolio page says WithCoverage is not a law firm and does not provide legal services. Confirm what its attorneys’ involvement includes. 39 The portfolio page promises no fee to end its broker-of-record appointment and data return on request. Confirm the service agreement and separate policy cancellation charges. 39,32 Its advisor recruitment materials describe contract changes and larger deductibles as possible strategies. Ask which risks the proposal leaves with your business. 40 |
| Fees and compensation | The reviewed U.S. technology brochure, application and Connect page do not disclose a buyer-specific premium, producer commission rate, broker fee or complete schedule of policy charges. Request a written breakdown of premium, taxes, fees and intermediary compensation before purchase. 2,3,6 | WithCoverage says it typically agrees a flat fee before work begins, so compensation does not rise with the premium. Its consumer FAQ also allows commission-based arrangements. The public pages do not give a standard fee amount. 34 The terms allow premiums, commissions, installment, service, cancellation and flat fees disclosed with the service. A flat advisory fee therefore should not be read as an all-inclusive insurance price. 32 The solution page advertises average savings of 20–40% for clients spending over $1 million annually on insurance and risk-management services. It does not provide the sample size, measurement period or calculation needed to establish a comparable result for your business. 37 Industry pages show the same 20–40% figure as annual policy savings without repeating the solution page’s spending threshold. The broader presentation does not establish savings for smaller accounts. 37,33,34 |
| Access to insurers | CFC’s regulatory page identifies Lloyd’s Syndicate 1988, managed by Asta Managing Agency Ltd. The reviewed U.S. technology materials do not name the insurer or participating syndicates for a California buyer’s actual policy; ask for those names on the quote and declarations. 4,2,3 | WithCoverage says it solicits competing insurers and uses policy analysis to compare protection. Its founders describe approaching dozens of insurers; that is a company process claim, not a promise of that many quotes for your account. 38 Its risk-advisor page describes direct insurer appointments and wholesale access to admitted, excess and surplus lines, and specialty markets. Displayed names include Travelers, Chubb, The Hartford and Liberty Mutual, alongside intermediaries such as Amwins and RT Specialty. 40 Liberty Mutual independently lists With Coverage Insurance Services LLC in its agent directory. This corroborates one insurer relationship; it does not establish the entire advertised network or which legal insurer would issue your policy. 41 |
