Beazley vs Harper

Compare specialist technology underwriting with Harper’s hard-to-place brokerage support when a software business adds field operations.

Introduction

A software company that starts installing equipment at customer sites needs to describe both its code and its crews. Beazley’s MediaTech addresses technology and professional liability. Harper is a commercial brokerage emphasizing difficult-to-place operations, including contractors and manufacturers. The practical comparison is between a specialist policy discussion and a broker’s work assembling protection for a more complicated business. 1 28 29

Listed products and programs, including policies arranged through insurers or partners. Optional endorsements are discussed in the analysis below. “Not listed” means no separate offering appears in the reviewed catalogue; confirm availability and policy terms with the provider.

Key Differences Between Beazley and Harper

Field Work Changes the Submission

Harper says it helps classify workers’ compensation payroll by duties and prepare audit information. Beazley’s MediaTech application asks about technology products, services and changes in the business. For installation crews, give the broker a description of who performs the physical work, not just the company’s technology-sector label. Payroll support and technology liability address different parts of the same operating change. 30 2

Beazley’s catalogue includes industry-specific general liability and marine excess offerings. Those entries are not evidence that an ordinary technology installation business qualifies for those programs. Harper’s broad coverage directory is likewise an invitation to seek terms, not a promise that all lines will be written together. Request an activity-to-policy map for the field operation. 17 18 27

AI Assistance Does Not Remove Underwriting Decisions

Harper describes AI-assisted document extraction and follow-up, with licensed professionals and carriers reviewing final decisions. Its messaging terms explicitly say texts cannot bind or change insurance. Beazley’s digital/email placement description also does not establish an effective policy. If the first installation is approaching, request a list of outstanding underwriting requirements and written confirmation of the covered start date. 23 22 1

Harper’s disclosed agency and privacy-policy entities differ, and its company-reported California license was not independently verified in the shared research. Beazley’s California MediaTech product route remains unresolved too. Those are specific diligence tasks; neither unknown establishes that the business cannot be insured. 22 23 25 5

An Introduction Can Change Who Services the Account

Harper’s referral program assigns ongoing work to Harper, while its wholesale page describes a different partner arrangement. Beazley provides policy-first claims notification channels. If another agent introduces Harper, establish who will handle endorsements and route a demand alleging both installation damage and software failure. The records do not prove that Harper can place Beazley for this account or that a message to one participant satisfies every policy’s notice rule. 35 34 8

What to Confirm in Quotes

  • Which form covers field installation versus software services, and who classifies the crews’ payroll? 30 2
  • Which legal agency and insurers are placing the California work, and what written approval remains before the first job? 22 5
  • Who owns endorsement requests and mixed-claim reporting if a referring agent or wholesaler is involved? 35 34 8

Service Comparison

Beazley vs Harper: documented services and availability

CriteriaBeazleyHarper
Business role

Beazley is a specialty insurance group operating through insurance companies and underwriting businesses. Its US disclosures distinguish the insurance entities from Beazley USA Services, Inc., which reports doing business in California as Beazley Insurance Services under license 0G55497. This is a company disclosure, not an independently verified license record. 5,6,7

Harper is a commercial insurance brokerage: it helps businesses find insurance from other companies and arrange the purchase. You can request a quote online or speak with a specialist, who gathers information, approaches insurers and explains the options. 22,29

Harper’s text-messaging terms identify the brokerage as Harper Global Enterprises Inc., doing business as Harper Global Insurance Agency. Its privacy policy instead names Harper Group Corp. The reviewed disclosures do not explain the corporate relationship between those names. 22,23

Harper separately markets wholesale access for other brokers, including specialty and non-admitted insurers. That page claims binding authority on selected programs but does not identify the delegating insurers, products, states or authority limits. It is not evidence that Harper itself bears the insured risk. 34

Application process

Beazley describes MediaTech placement through third-party platforms or email. Its posted application requests the business’s services and products, employee count, US and non-US revenues, financial statements and expected business changes. A submitted application does not establish acceptance or an effective policy. 1,2

The public quote form asks for your contact and business details, state, estimated annual revenue, business activity and requested coverage. It includes an existing-customer checkbox and a text-message consent choice. The visible form starts an inquiry; it does not display a final premium or issued policy. 21

The founders describe Harper Hub as internal software that helps complete forms, identify carriers and underwriters, and manage client communications. Their Y Combinator launch describes full autonomy as a direction for the business. 26

Harper’s privacy policy says AI extracts document information, drafts messages for review, organizes follow-ups and assists staff. It says licensed professionals and carriers review final decisions, including eligibility and binding. AI marketing therefore does not establish that a machine can approve your coverage on its own. 23

The privacy policy describes collecting applications, loss records and business documents. It also says customer communications and policy information train Harper’s own models, while its enterprise AI vendors state they do not train their foundation models on customer data. These are different uses of your information. 23

Harper’s messaging terms say a text cannot bind, change, renew or cancel insurance. Coverage takes effect only with written confirmation from Harper and the applicable carrier; quotes sent by text remain subject to underwriting and final documentation. 22

Harper’s February 2026 announcement advertises coverage within 24–48 hours. That is a company timing claim, not a deadline established for your application. Ask what information and approvals are still outstanding before arranging work around a proposed start date. 33

Servicing and renewals

Beazley publishes a MediaTech renewal application. The reviewed renewal form and product page do not establish a guaranteed renewal, dedicated account manager, or turnaround commitment for policy changes. 4,1

Full Spectrum Cyber for small businesses combines Beazley Breach Response with security tools and services. Beazley describes incident-response coordination and discounted vendor services. Its myBeazley quote-and-bind route is for brokers handling accounts below $35 million in revenue and limits no higher than $5 million; these are cyber-route criteria, not MediaTech eligibility rules. 9

For workers’ compensation, Harper says it helps classify payroll by the work employees perform and prepares information for premium audits. Its cost FAQ identifies payroll, job categories and claims history as pricing factors. An audit can reconcile the information used to price the policy; Harper’s service description is not a promise that your premium cannot change. 30,38

Under that referral program, Harper says it owns the account and handles quoting, placement, servicing, renewals and claims; the referring agent has no servicing duties. Its separate wholesale page offers white-label options. If another agent introduces you, clarify which arrangement applies and who will be your ongoing contact. 35,34

Harper’s public portal entry page advertises access to certificates, policies, payments and application status. Sign-in uses the email address associated with a Harper invitation; the page directs customers without an invitation to its service team. Features behind sign-in were not tested. 36

Harper describes ongoing policy management and annual coverage reviews. Its messaging terms list reminders about renewals, billing and premium finance, along with communications about changes and certificates. These service descriptions do not specify a guaranteed renewal price or a commitment to re-shop every policy. 37,22

Claims assistance

Beazley directs customers to check their policy’s notification instructions first. Its website provides a notice-of-loss form and a US claims email route. The existence of these channels does not establish claims-handling quality or a promise that a loss is covered. 8

Harper says its team assists with claims documentation and communication, and advocates with the carrier. This describes brokerage assistance. The insurer named in the policy remains the company responsible for covered losses; claims support is not a promise that a claim will be paid. 37,38

A dedicated claims-reporting procedure, after-hours response commitment and policy-specific notice address were not established in the reviewed Harper sources. Obtain those instructions with your policy. Harper’s messaging terms warn against relying on texts for urgent matters. 37,36,22
