Alliance Risk vs Chubb

Compare Alliance Risk as a placing broker with Chubb’s underwriting companies, DigiTech ERM and agent-led commercial insurance access.

Introduction

An enterprise customer may prompt a startup to investigate Chubb while it is also selecting a broker. Those are two different decisions. Alliance Risk arranges insurance; Chubb is the marketing name for a group whose underwriting companies issue policies. A Chubb proposal can therefore be evaluated within a broker-led market comparison, but the reviewed public materials do not establish Alliance Risk’s appointment or access to Chubb. 2 13 40

Key Differences Between Alliance Risk and Chubb

Test the Specific Chubb Product, Not the Group’s Entire Catalogue

Chubb markets DigiTech ERM as one policy addressing technology E&O, media and cyber exposures. It also has separate package and management-liability products. Those offerings are not automatically included together, even when a company falls within Chubb’s marketed technology audience. The practical assignment is to identify the proposed forms and sections before comparing them with alternatives. 21 15 22

Alliance Risk describes technology E&O policy review and insurer marketing based on information including contracts, customer concentration and claims history. That process could be used to assess a specific carrier proposal, without assuming that every carrier in the broader market is accessible through this broker. Ask what alternatives the broker can actually obtain and which material coverage differences it will explain. 10

California Insurer Authority Is Stronger Evidence Than Product Acceptance

The shared Chubb research includes California regulator records identifying Federal Insurance Company and ACE American Insurance Company as admitted property-and-casualty insurers. That is a verified insurer-status finding, distinct from Alliance Risk’s company-published producer license identifier. Neither establishes that a particular DigiTech or package submission will be accepted. 52 53 5

Chubb’s own disclosures say products vary by jurisdiction, and its group includes different underwriting companies and surplus-lines routes. Do not substitute the holding-company name, Chubb Limited, for the insurer on the quote. Alliance Risk likewise describes access to admitted and surplus-lines markets without naming an issuer for this applicant. Compare the actual entities and placement status alongside wording. 13 47 39 1

Agent Tools and Insurer Claims Channels Have Different Jobs

Chubb Marketplace and Cyber Central support appointed producers and eligible risks; they are not evidence of a general-public instant-bind flow for a complex technology program. Chubb directs customers to their agent or broker for ordinary service and publishes separate claims and cyber-incident channels. The account’s proposal should explain who uses each route and what happens when underwriting refers a submission. 20 21 41 44

Alliance Risk’s public claims-assistance detail is limited in the reviewed materials. If a broker is retained to coordinate a Chubb policy, ask what assistance is included beyond providing insurer contact information. Chubb’s reporting channels establish ways to notify a loss, not evidence of a particular claims outcome or a substitute for agreed brokerage support. 7 1 43 45

What to Confirm in Quotes

  • Is the immediate choice a broker appointment, a Chubb product, or both, and can the proposed broker access the relevant underwriting team?
  • Which legal underwriting company, California route, DigiTech sections and companion policies appear on the proposal?
  • How does the proposed coverage answer the customer’s insurance requirements, and which exclusions or sublimits remain material?
  • Who handles policy changes and claim coordination, and what broker compensation, policy charges or separately billed services are included in the total cost?

Service Comparison

Alliance Risk vs Chubb: documented services and availability

CriteriaAlliance RiskChubb
Business role

Alliance Risk describes itself as an independent commercial insurance brokerage and risk advisor. Its terms and privacy policy identify Alliance Risk Insurance Services LLC as the subsidiary agency. 2,3,4

The terms name Alliance Risk Holding Company LLC, while the privacy policy names Alliance Risk, Inc. as the parent. The reviewed disclosures do not resolve that naming discrepancy. 3,4

Chubb is the marketing name for subsidiaries of Chubb Limited, a Swiss holding company, that provide insurance and related services. U.S. commercial policies are issued by U.S.-based Chubb underwriting companies, not by Chubb Limited itself. 50,13,36

Commercial buyers typically reach Chubb through independent agents and brokers. Chubb appoints producers, operates agent portals, and identifies Chubb Insurance Solutions Agency, Inc. as the licensed agency that administers Chubb Access appointments. Surplus-lines products can be offered only through licensed surplus-lines producers. 40,41,13,49

Access to insurers

Alliance Risk reports using admitted and excess-and-surplus-lines markets for startups. The reviewed technology, quote and legal pages do not identify the insurer that would issue a California buyer’s policy. 1,6,3

The issuing insurer is a Chubb-group underwriting company named on the policy. Reviewed sources identify Federal Insurance Company as a primary U.S. underwriting company, ACE American Insurance Company as a U.S. issuing company on surety materials, and Westchester Fire Insurance Company or Westchester Surplus Lines Insurance Company (and, for some Westchester business, Illinois Union or other ACE paper) depending on the placement. Buyers should read the declarations rather than assume a single “Chubb” legal insurer. 41,36,39,47,52

Availability

Alliance Risk publishes California license number 6014559 and producer NPN 21240567. These are company disclosures; current regulator status, authorized lines and the insurer or surplus-lines route for a California startup remain unverified. 5,8

The technology page says Alliance Risk places startup insurance in all 50 states, but section 4 of its terms limits products and services to selected states. Confirm California availability for each requested line. 1,3

Chubb’s U.S. site states that products and services vary by jurisdiction and are not available or suitable for all users. Company license materials describe Federal Insurance Company and ACE American Insurance Company as admitted property-and-casualty insurers in all 50 states. That company-wide licensing statement is not a product-by-product availability matrix. 13,36,47

California’s regulator lists Federal Insurance Company (NAIC 20281) and ACE American Insurance Company (NAIC 22667) as admitted property-and-casualty insurers in the Chubb Ltd group. The reviewed product pages do not publish a California-specific eligibility list for technology, DigiTech ERM or small-business BOP. Surplus-lines placements, if used, must go through a licensed surplus-lines producer. U.S. branch offices are not evidence that a product is available in California. 52,53,54,13,46

Application process

The quote page starts with a contact request for company, website, contact details and a message. It advertises a free, no-obligation quote; the visible form does not provide a bindable offer. 6

For technology E&O, Alliance Risk requests service details, revenue, employee count, major client contracts, existing coverage, five-year claims history and customer concentration. It says it reviews the current program and approaches specialist carriers. 10

The general quote page advertises a quote within 24 hours, while the technology page gives 48–72 hours for standard software risks and five to ten business days for hardware, fintech, healthtech and AI. Treat timing as company estimates, not a binding deadline. 6,1

Appointed agents and brokers can quote, and for eligible risks issue, small-business and cyber accounts through Chubb Marketplace, and can use Cyber Central for an express cyber quoting path. Marketplace cyber quoting is described for eligible risks with less than $100 million in revenue; referred risks go to underwriters. Businesses seeking coverage are directed to an agent, a U.S. contact form, or chubbsmallbusiness.com for small-business quote inquiries. The reviewed public pages do not describe a general-public online bind for middle-market technology programs. 20,21,41,42,23

Claims assistance

The reviewed home, contact, privacy and terms pages do not establish a dedicated claims-reporting procedure or the scope of broker claims advocacy. Privacy references to sharing information with claims participants do not establish who manages a loss. 8,7,4,3

Chubb publishes 24/7 claim reporting at 1-800-CLAIMS-0, product-specific first-notice emails including cyberclaimreport@chubb.com and a 24/7 cyber incident hotline at 1-800-817-2665, plus a Small Commercial client portal for eligible policyholders to report claims and upload documents. Claims-page satisfaction figures are company-reported survey results and do not independently establish claims-handling quality for a given loss. 43,44,45,20,41
