Evidence and Scope
Role: Broker. Scope: Lockton's U.S. brokerage presentation, including Lockton Companies, LLC d/b/a Lockton Insurance Brokers, LLC and Lockton, Inc. as named in reviewed U.S. materials; scope is commercial placement and claims advocacy and does not identify a quote-specific risk-bearing insurer.
Legal Identity
Licensing
Financial Strength
Risk Bearing
The U.S. terms address surplus lines, use of a particular insurer, intermediaries and compensation, consistent with an intermediary placing coverage. The reviewed materials do not identify the insurer, syndicate or reinsurance arrangement for a particular technology or cyber quote; Lockton is not treated as carrier.[2][3]
Lockton’s US compensation disclosure describes the shape of its insurer relationships without naming an insurer. It states that Lockton receives commissions paid by insurers, contingency payments tied to premium volume, growth, persistency, profitability or retention targets set by the insurer, supplemental commission set at the start of each calendar year on the same performance factors, and service fees from insurers for consulting, managing general agency arrangements, analytics and administration. It also states that insurers may ask Lockton Re, LLC, a reinsurance intermediary broker affiliate, to place facultative or treaty reinsurance on their behalf. These are company-disclosed arrangements; no insurer, share of business or facility term is identified.[7]
Three Lockton capacity arrangements are named, and none identifies the risk-bearing insurer. Lockton’s US infrastructure page states that Lockton partners with Macquarie Insurance Facility (MIF) for aggregated infrastructure buying. A Lockton US news item describes parametric service-level-agreement insurance for data centres delivered with Parametrix, which the same page describes as a managing general agent and Lloyd’s coverholder whose policies are backed by major A-rated global insurers; those insurers are not named, and the page’s phrasing that the product is “underwritten through Lockton” is marketing language rather than evidence of a Lockton underwriting or risk-bearing role. A Lockton announcement dated 12 October 2022 describes a digital-asset custody facility built by its Emerging Asset Protection team and supported by Lloyd’s syndicates together with highly rated insurance companies, with London market custody capacity then estimated in excess of US$850 million. All three statements are company-reported and none was independently verified here.[8][9][10]
No reviewed Lockton source names an insurer, syndicate or capacity share for a US commercial, technology or cyber placement, and no carrier-published directory or appointment record for Lockton was located in this research. The named relationships are with a buying facility, a managing general agent and unnamed Lloyd’s and company markets. That describes the reviewed disclosures; it is not a finding that Lockton lacks carrier relationships.[7][8][9]
Claims Service
Lockton advertises claim advocacy and consulting that can include investigations, policy mapping, discussions with insurer lawyers and loss adjusters, and claim presentation. These descriptions do not establish claim outcomes, insurer obligations or a service-level commitment for a specific policy.[4]
Regulatory Record
Evidence gaps
- Current California license status and exact legal licensee require direct regulator confirmation.
- No complete state-by-state producer authority inventory was completed.
- No quote-specific insurer, syndicate, admitted or surplus-lines status or reinsurance terms were collected.
- No current carrier-specific AM Best action or statutory financial statement was collected.
- No completed five-year conduct result is available.
- Claims advocacy is company-described and independent service outcomes were not reviewed.
- No reviewed Lockton source names an insurer, syndicate or capacity share behind a US placement; the named arrangements are with Macquarie Insurance Facility, Parametrix and unnamed Lloyd’s and company markets, so carrier-network strength has no named-carrier evidence in this scope.
- No carrier-published directory, appointment record or regulator appointment listing confirming a Lockton carrier appointment was located in this research.
- The digital-asset custody facility statement dates from 12 October 2022; its current participants, capacity and availability were not re-established.
