Insurance Required by a Customer Contract

Meet the insurance terms in your customer’s contract

Send us the contract’s insurance clause, and your Spot team tells you what you already meet, what’s missing and what it takes to close the gap.

  • Each clause checked against the policies you already have
  • Quotes only for the coverage you’re actually missing
  • Keep your broker or switch, with no commissions on premiums

How it works

Send us the contract

Upload the agreement or paste the insurance section. Include any exhibit, vendor manual or onboarding form it points to, because requirements often hide there.

Limits, exclusions, and endorsements

See where your policies fall short

Your Spot team compares each required coverage, limit and endorsement with what you carry and shows you the gaps before you agree to anything.

Close the gaps with your broker

We work with your broker, or one we introduce, to quote missing coverage, raise limits or add the endorsements the customer asked for.

Coverage to consider

  • General liability

Most customer contracts start here, for injury or property damage your business causes, especially if you work at their sites.

    Get quotes
  • Professional errors and omissions (E&O)

If the customer pays for your advice or services, the contract may ask for cover for claims that a mistake cost them money.

  • Technology errors and omissions (E&O)

Software, hosting and integration contracts often ask for tech E&O, and the policy has to describe each service you sell.

    Get quotes
  • Cyber liability

A customer whose data you hold can require cover for breach response and claims after a security incident.

  • Umbrella and excess liability

When the contract’s limits are higher than your primary policies, an extra layer can sit above the policies listed underneath it.

  • Workers’ compensation

Customers often ask for it, and your states’ rules may already require it if you have employees.

Documents to have ready

  • 01

    The insurance clause and exhibits

The section that lists coverages, limits and endorsements, plus any insurance exhibit or supplier requirements it refers to.

  • 02

What you’ll do for this customer

A plain description of the work, where it happens and whether you’ll use subcontractors. Insurers need it to see whether your policies fit.

  • 03

    Your current policies

Declarations pages and endorsements for every policy you carry, so the comparison works from real terms rather than a summary.

  • 04

The customer’s legal name and contact

The entity that signs the contract and the person who collects certificates.

  • 05

    Your signing date

When you need to sign and when work starts, so your Spot team can tell you what can be done in that window.

Common questions

Can I push back on the customer’s insurance requirements?

Yes, many customers will discuss them. Your Spot team shows you which requirements are costly or hard to get, so you can raise them before you sign. We don’t give legal advice on the contract itself.

Do I need a new policy, or can my current one be changed?

Often an endorsement or a higher limit on a policy you already have is enough. We check that first and only take coverage to market when you need it.

What if the contract asks for something no insurer will give me?

Your Spot team tells you early, so you can ask the customer for a change instead of finding out after you’ve signed.

Does Spot replace my broker?

No. We work with the broker you have, or help you find another one, and Spot takes no commissions on premiums either way.
