Mylo vs
Resilience
Compare Mylo’s small-business brokerage and benefits coordination with Resilience’s specialist cyber offering as a team grows.
Introduction
A startup hiring its first substantial team may be shopping for employee benefits and business insurance while customers demand cyber coverage. Mylo offers small-business brokerage and a small-group benefits service; Resilience presents a focused cyber and technology E&O option. The comparison is between coordinating several purchases and choosing a specialist for one part of the program. 1 14 21

Key Differences Between Mylo and Resilience
Headcount and Technology Revenue Answer Different Questions
Mylo's benefits offering targets employers with 2–99 employees. Resilience's technology E&O page instead publishes a US revenue appetite. A growing headcount does not establish eligibility for that technology product, and a cyber quote does not answer the employee-benefits question. Keep the employee roster and technology exposure submission connected operationally but distinct in the proposals. 14 24
Mylo also markets cyber through its commercial catalogue. That permits a policy-level comparison with Resilience if Mylo obtains a suitable quote, but the public catalogue does not name the insurer or forms that would be offered. Ask the adviser to explain the actual alternatives rather than compare a brokerage menu with a specialist's headline limit. 8 3 23
Ownership Does Not Identify Your Carrier
Mylo says it launched within Lockton Companies in 2015 and now has Group 1001 as its backer. A May 2023 Kansas City Business Journal report said Group 1001 became the majority investor and Mylo was no longer part of Lockton; the reviewed sources did not provide a newer ownership percentage. 2,16,17
Mylo's historic Lockton relationship should not be used as its current ownership description. Nor does Group 1001 backing identify the insurer for a Mylo placement. Resilience's disclosure names Homeland alternatives, a more specific US underwriting statement that still requires a quote-level entity and California route. 4 22
Advisory Help and Incident Response Have Different Boundaries
Mylo publishes carrier-specific claims contacts and a service-professional fallback. Resilience describes a dedicated claims manager and cyber-response specialists. Ask where emergency notice goes and who coordinates technical responders; a broad adviser relationship and a cyber incident team are not the same function. 4 26
Mylo says most customers pay no Mylo fee but acknowledges fee-bearing transactions and insurer commissions. Resilience's standard compensation is not disclosed in the reviewed pages. Obtain your own fees and service scope, rather than turning a company-wide percentage into a promise about this account. 2 30 25
What to Confirm in Quotes
Separate benefits administration, business-policy servicing and cyber response in the engagement. Ask which insurer would write the Mylo cyber option, whether the company fits Resilience's technology appetite, and what California placement basis applies. Request all fees and the actual cyber forms before comparing price or consolidating vendors. 1 14 24 22
Service Comparison
Mylo vs Resilience: documented services and availability
| Criteria | Mylo | Resilience |
|---|---|---|
| Business role | Mylo describes itself as an independent insurance broker for small and growing businesses. It recommends coverage and compares available quotes from multiple insurers rather than issuing its own policies. 1,2 Mylo says it launched within Lockton Companies in 2015 and now has Group 1001 as its backer. A May 2023 Kansas City Business Journal report said Group 1001 became the majority investor and Mylo was no longer part of Lockton; the reviewed sources did not provide a newer ownership percentage. 2,16,17 Mylo, LLC operates the website and is the named insurance agency. Its footer identifies Mylo Insurance Solutions, LLC as a trade name in California, Illinois, Michigan and North Dakota, and Mylo Solutions, LLC as a trade name in New York. 1,3,18,19 Mylo also supplies an embedded insurance-shopping service to other companies and insurance agencies. A buyer entering through a partner should identify whether Mylo, the partner or another licensed entity is the producer for the transaction. 15,16 | Resilience combines cyber insurance and technology errors and omissions insurance with cybersecurity risk-management services. 21,23,24 Resilience identifies Ocrea Risk Services, LLC, doing business as Resilience Cyber Insurance Solutions, as its US insurance distributor and lists NPN 19169260. This company disclosure is not independent verification of a California license. 22 |
| Access to insurers | Mylo says its commercial brokerage works with more than 40 carrier partners and names Travelers, Liberty Mutual, The Hartford and Hiscox as examples. That panel does not establish which insurers will consider or quote a particular business. 1,4 Mylo’s public pages do not provide a complete product-and-state schedule of issuing insurers. The carrier contact directory names companies used for some customers, but the legal insurer for each proposed policy must be confirmed in the quote and policy documents. 1,4,3 | Resilience’s US disclosure names Homeland Insurance Company of New York or Homeland Insurance Company of Delaware as underwriting insurers. It does not specify which would issue a particular California quote. 22 |
| Fees and compensation | Mylo says its guided shopping service is free and that 95% of customers do not pay Mylo a fee when purchasing. It generally earns a carrier commission; in fewer than 5% of transactions, it says it charges a fee when it handles billing and incurs higher administrative costs. The reviewed disclosure does not give the fee amount. 2 | The reviewed broker, contact, legal and product pages do not disclose a standard customer fee schedule or insurance commission rates. Request an itemized premium, taxes, placement fees and any separate security-service charges. 25,27,22,30,23,24 |
| Claims assistance | Mylo publishes carrier-specific support and claims contacts and directs customers to the insurer for many service needs. If a carrier is not listed, the page gives a Mylo Service Professional number; it does not promise that Mylo decides or pays claims. 4 | Resilience describes a 24/7 in-house claims team, a dedicated claims manager through settlement, and outside specialists in privacy law, forensics, recovery and crisis communications. These are company-reported service arrangements, not independently measured claims quality. 26 |
