Corgi vs Harper

Compare Corgi’s startup packages with Harper’s complex-risk brokerage when a technology business adds field operations and employees.

Introduction

Corgi offers startup insurance packages organized around funding stages, including technology errors and omissions, cyber and directors and officers coverage. Its agency distributes policies from affiliated or partner insurers. 2 1 Harper is a commercial insurance brokerage emphasizing complex operations, including contractors, care providers, auto dealers and security businesses. Its specialists approach insurers with help from AI tools for submissions and follow-up. 30 35 25

When a technology business adds people doing physical work, both the software and the field operation need to be described. A security-software company that begins supplying its own guards would need that combined description. Corgi’s technology package and Harper’s documented security appetite provide different starting points for that discussion; neither label establishes acceptance of the combined business. 8 33

Where Harper Shines

  • Harper focuses on hard-to-place operations across industries such as contracting, care services, manufacturing and transportation. 30,35
  • For workers’ compensation, Harper says it helps classify payroll by job duties and prepare premium-audit information. 32,40

Listed products and programs, including policies arranged through insurers or partners. Optional endorsements are discussed in the analysis below. “Not listed” means no separate offering appears in the reviewed catalogue; confirm availability and policy terms with the provider.

Key Differences Between Corgi and Harper

Software Work, Guard Operations and Eligibility

Harper’s security page names armed guards, event security and mobile patrols and discusses guard-action liability, professional negligence, equipment and vehicles. That names the operations side of the company. Ask how the offered form treats actual guard duties and use-of-force allegations, rather than assuming general liability alone addresses everything in the contract. The page is a product description, not a specimen for a named insurer. 33

Corgi’s technology offering addresses allegations that technology products or services failed to perform. If the company also sends guards to customer sites, ask Corgi to distinguish insured software work from physical services and identify any separate placement needed. Ask Harper the reciprocal question about the software product and cyber exposure. This comparison should produce a map of activities to policies, not a presumption that a technology-focused provider rejects physical operations or that a broad broker’s generic E&O covers software. 8 2 29

Both market general liability and other commercial products. The distinction is the documented starting focus, not a clean divide between businesses with or without physical assets. Corgi has also announced small-business product filings, but filings do not establish availability for this security operation. Have both providers confirm eligibility for the combined activities and each operating state before comparing terms. 9 33 29

Payroll Classification and Workers’ Compensation

Harper describes helping classify payroll by employee duties and preparing information for workers’ compensation audits. For a business with both developers and field staff, that creates a concrete preparation task: separate job descriptions, work locations and payroll information so the submission describes what employees actually do. The service claim does not guarantee an unchanged premium at audit. 32

Corgi’s dashboard description supports changes as a startup hires and expands, but it does not settle the classification or audit terms of a workers’ compensation proposal. Ask how that coverage will be arranged alongside technology and board protection and who owns payroll updates. Harper’s wider catalogue likewise does not imply every requested line sits with one insurer or on one renewal date. 2 1 29

Applications, AI Tools and Referral Arrangements

Harper’s AI tools are described as extracting document information, drafting messages and organizing follow-ups, with professionals and carriers reviewing final decisions. Corgi offers online and specialist-assisted purchasing. For the mixed-operation business, compare how each team checks the application’s description and resolves insurer questions; neither use of AI nor a short quote-time claim establishes better classification or coverage. 25 2

Harper’s privacy policy separately describes training its own models with customer communications and policy information, while its AI vendors’ foundation-model statements address a different use. Before providing sensitive operating documents, clarify what is requested and how it will be used. This disclosure is not evidence that Corgi uses identical terms or that either company’s controls have been independently audited. 25

If an existing agent introduces Harper, identify the arrangement. Harper Partners assigns quoting, service, renewals and claims to Harper, with a commission share paid to an appropriately licensed referring agent. Its separate wholesale offering can use a different service structure. A referral does not necessarily preserve the introducing agent as the ongoing service contact. Corgi’s direct specialist route should likewise identify who coordinates the technology and field-operation policies after purchase. 37 36 2

Binding, Insurer Status, Fees and Claims

Harper’s texts cannot bind or change insurance under its messaging terms; written confirmation from Harper and the applicable insurer is required. Corgi’s disclaimers contain a policy-and-premium condition alongside a separate temporary-written-binder provision. For a guard-service start date, obtain explicit effective-coverage confirmation and the required endorsements before relying on a text exchange or application receipt. 24 1

If the contract specifies rated or admitted insurance, identify each legal insurer. Corgi says Technology Risk Retention Group has no AM Best rating, and risk retention group (RRG) policies lack state guaranty-fund protection; its disclosed eligible admitted/partner alternatives require a separate check. Harper’s older “AAA-rated” marketing does not name a rating agency or establish the rating on this quote. Ask for current evidence from both, without treating Harper as the insurer or applying TRRG’s status to all Corgi policies. 1 20 39

Harper’s referral commission share is not a premium discount, and its reviewed sources do not publish the buyer’s fee schedule. Corgi discloses potential commissions or fees. Compare the full program cost, including workers’ compensation assumptions, vehicles, any separate software cover and payment charges. For a loss, distinguish Harper’s described brokerage advocacy from Corgi’s possible affiliated or third-party administration; neither service description proves claims quality. 37 32 39 1

What to Confirm in Quotes

  • One written description of all work: software functions, guard duties, armed work if applicable, vehicles and subcontracted services, with accepted activities mapped to the proposed forms. 33 8
  • A payroll and audit plan: employee duties and states, estimates used, update responsibilities and the insurer’s audit provisions. 32 1
  • A service-responsibility document: retail versus referral/wholesale arrangement, who answers coverage questions and who handles renewals and urgent claim notices. 37 24 1
  • The contract-ready proposal: insurer status evidence, effective-date confirmation, endorsements and itemized costs for the complete operation. 24 39 1

Service Comparison

Corgi vs Harper: documented services and availability

CriteriaCorgiHarper
Customer focus

Corgi offers business insurance for technology companies and startups, with packages for pre-seed and seed, Series A, and growth-stage businesses, plus a custom option. 2,3,6,15

In August 2026, Corgi announced product filings for offices, retail, restaurants, personal services, self-storage, wholesalers, community associations, and small rental properties. Availability depends on the product and state. 9

Its advertised customers include contractors, restaurants, auto dealers, childcare and adult-care providers, manufacturers, and transportation businesses. Harper emphasizes operations that are difficult to place with an insurer. 30,35

Coverage lines

Corgi’s startup packages combine general liability, directors and officers, technology errors and omissions, cyber, media, employment practices, fiduciary, and hired and non-owned auto coverage. Its technology offering includes a Tech & AI Liability module. 2,8,10

Corgi’s D&O page describes claims-made coverage for directors, officers, and the company under form CORG-DO-0100, issued by Technology Risk Retention Group. The example has defense costs within the policy limit and a $25,000 per-claim retention—the portion of a claim you pay. Your quote and policy set the actual terms. 5

Risk retention groups can write business liability insurance for their members. They cannot provide other types of insurance, such as property coverage, so a package with those products needs another insurer. 19,21

Harper’s privacy policy says it does not currently offer health or life insurance. The life qualification on its Georgia agency license does not establish that a life product is available through Harper. 25,26

Harper advertises general and professional liability, commercial property and auto, cyber, garage liability, umbrella coverage and bonds. Its coverage directory also lists workers’ compensation, equipment, liquor liability, medical malpractice and product liability; the intake selector includes a business owner’s policy combining property and liability. 23,29

Harper’s security page includes armed guards, event security and mobile patrol businesses. It describes liability for guard actions and professional negligence alongside equipment and vehicle protection. The page does not supply the insurer or policy wording for a particular security operation. 33

Harper also arranges license, permit, contract, dealer, court and fiduciary bonds. Its bond page explains that the buyer may have to repay amounts the bond company pays on a claim. Ask for the bond and indemnity agreement—the repayment promise—when reviewing this part of a proposal. 34

The reviewed product pages are coverage summaries. They do not provide a specimen policy tied to a named insurer, state and form edition from which to establish common limits, deductibles or exclusions. Ask for the actual forms and endorsements, which change or add to the policy. 29,31,33

Application process

You can apply online or book a call with a Corgi specialist. Corgi says eligible applicants can get a quote in minutes and buy coverage the same day. Its disclosures describe both an issued-policy-and-payment condition and temporary coverage under a written binder. Confirm the applicable conditions and effective date in writing. 2,1

The public quote form asks for your contact and business details, state, estimated annual revenue, business activity and requested coverage. It includes an existing-customer checkbox and a text-message consent choice. The visible form starts an inquiry; it does not display a final premium or issued policy. 23

The founders describe Harper Hub as internal software that helps complete forms, identify carriers and underwriters, and manage client communications. Their Y Combinator launch describes full autonomy as a direction for the business. 28

Harper’s privacy policy says AI extracts document information, drafts messages for review, organizes follow-ups and assists staff. It says licensed professionals and carriers review final decisions, including eligibility and binding. AI marketing therefore does not establish that a machine can approve your coverage on its own. 25

The privacy policy describes collecting applications, loss records and business documents. It also says customer communications and policy information train Harper’s own models, while its enterprise AI vendors state they do not train their foundation models on customer data. These are different uses of your information. 25

Harper’s messaging terms say a text cannot bind, change, renew or cancel insurance. Coverage takes effect only with written confirmation from Harper and the applicable carrier; quotes sent by text remain subject to underwriting and final documentation. 24

Harper’s February 2026 announcement advertises coverage within 24–48 hours. That is a company timing claim, not a deadline established for your application. Ask what information and approvals are still outstanding before arranging work around a proposed start date. 35

Servicing and renewals

Corgi says customers can add or upgrade policies through its dashboard as they raise funding, hire, or sign larger contracts. Renewal and cancellation terms depend on the policy and state rules. 2,1

For workers’ compensation, Harper says it helps classify payroll by the work employees perform and prepares information for premium audits. Its cost FAQ identifies payroll, job categories and claims history as pricing factors. An audit can reconcile the information used to price the policy; Harper’s service description is not a promise that your premium cannot change. 32,40

Under that referral program, Harper says it owns the account and handles quoting, placement, servicing, renewals and claims; the referring agent has no servicing duties. Its separate wholesale page offers white-label options. If another agent introduces you, clarify which arrangement applies and who will be your ongoing contact. 37,36

Harper’s public portal entry page advertises access to certificates, policies, payments and application status. Sign-in uses the email address associated with a Harper invitation; the page directs customers without an invitation to its service team. Features behind sign-in were not tested. 38

Harper describes ongoing policy management and annual coverage reviews. Its messaging terms list reminders about renewals, billing and premium finance, along with communications about changes and certificates. These service descriptions do not specify a guaranteed renewal price or a commitment to re-shop every policy. 39,24

Fees and compensation

Corgi Insurance Services may receive commissions or fees from the insurer or the customer. You can ask for the type and amount of compensation on your policy. 1

Corgi lists typical annual prices of $2,000–$5,000 for eligible pre-seed and seed startups and $5,000–$15,000 for Series A companies. Your price depends on the business, state, coverage, limits, and other underwriting details. 2,6,7

Harper Partners advertises a payment of 50% of Harper’s commission to an appropriately licensed referring agent, paid 60 days after the account settles. It says the underlying commission varies by coverage line, premium and carrier. The percentage is a share of commission, not a discount on the buyer’s premium. 37

The reviewed Harper pages do not disclose a buyer-facing schedule of brokerage fees or account-specific commission rates. Its statement that partner agents can join for free does not establish that buying insurance through Harper carries no fees. Request an itemized total, including premium, taxes, fees and any financing charges. 37,39,31,24
