Corgi vs
Coverdash
Compare Corgi’s startup-oriented placements with Coverdash’s multi-carrier shopping, policy fees and automatic-renewal authority.
Introduction
Corgi organizes insurance for technology companies around startup stages and places it through its agency with affiliated or partner insurers. 2 1 Coverdash is an insurance brokerage and digital platform for startups, small businesses and e-commerce sellers; it offers comparison of available quotes, with an advisor and account tools alongside the online purchase. 30 23 24
A startup approaching a funding round and its first large customer contract can evaluate Corgi’s proposed startup package or ask Coverdash to compare placements and coordinate them through its brokerage. After purchase, Coverdash publishes specific fee and renewal-authorization terms, while Corgi describes dashboard changes as the business grows. 2 27 28

Key Differences Between Corgi and Coverdash
Package Proposals and Insurer Access
Corgi’s stage-based packages give the startup a defined starting combination of general liability, technology errors and omissions and management-related coverage. Coverdash’s catalogue offers several of the same lines through a brokerage relationship. Its advertised carrier access can support shopping, but it does not mean every carrier will quote this applicant. Ask Coverdash which markets actually considered the business and Corgi which affiliated or partner insurer is proposed for each coverage part. 2 1 25 30
Coverdash expressly says it does not underwrite policies. Corgi’s producer likewise does not itself take on insurance risk, even though Corgi’s group includes carriers. “Buying direct” is an incomplete description of the comparison. What matters is the actual insurer, the forms it offers and the service relationship around the placement. Neither a carrier logo on Coverdash’s site nor the Corgi brand settles a contract’s rating or admitted-insurer requirement. 24 1
For a startup asked to provide rated, admitted coverage, Corgi describes an eligible alternative-carrier route, separately from its Technology Risk Retention Group. Ask for that route at the start of the quote. Ask Coverdash to filter its proposed placements against the same contract language, rather than discovering after selection that an offered insurer does not meet the requirement. These requests test the proposals; they do not establish that either provider will obtain acceptable terms. 1 24
If the proposed insurer is Technology Risk Retention Group, Corgi says it has no AM Best rating, and its policies have no state insurance guaranty-fund protection. Those qualifications apply to the risk retention group (RRG) placement, not every Corgi policy. Corgi’s stated eligible admitted or partner-carrier alternatives need their own insurer, rating and state checks. 1 20
Software Liability, Cyber and Board Coverage
A software failure that costs a client money and a breach that creates response expenses are different coverage questions. Coverdash separately markets technology E&O and cyber, and says only some technology E&O policies bundle cyber. Corgi’s technology offering includes a Tech & AI Liability module, with cyber also appearing in its package descriptions. Give both providers the software’s actual functions and the customer’s insurance requirements, then ask how the proposed forms address each exposure. 39 44 8 2
The funding round raises a separate board-protection discussion. Corgi publishes an illustrative directors and officers form summary, while Coverdash offers management liability and standalone Side A protection for directors and officers when the company cannot indemnify them. Ask for the actual D&O structure and whether defense spending reduces the available limit. A package’s inclusion of D&O does not by itself answer whether the investor’s requested terms are present, and a separately marketed Side A product is not automatically included in a Coverdash proposal. 5 40 41
Broker Designation and Binding
Corgi lets applicants start online or speak to a specialist. Coverdash describes online comparison and purchasing, but its terms also establish a broker-of-record relationship: designation of the broker handling those insurance services, with exclusivity unless otherwise agreed. If the startup is only seeking alternatives to existing policies, clarify the scope of that designation before authorizing service. 2 26 24
Both advertise fast purchasing for eligible applicants. Coverdash’s FAQ and terms describe the payment/binding sequence differently, and its terms permit payment collection before a carrier’s final acceptance. Corgi’s disclaimers contain both a policy-and-premium condition and a separate temporary-binder provision. For a contract deadline, request written confirmation identifying the coverage, insurer and effective date; a submitted application or payment receipt is not that confirmation. 26 24 1
Policy Fees and Renewal Authority
Coverdash’s Technology Access Fee applies per purchased policy and is described as fully earned and nonrefundable; its disclosure does not publish the amount. If the program uses several policies, ask for the fee on each one before comparing the total with Corgi’s package proposal. Corgi also discloses possible commissions or fees paid by the insurer or customer. An online quote from either company is not evidence of a fee-free purchase. 27 1
Once a finance team owns the budget, Coverdash’s renewal authorization is a separate control:
For policies whose billing and premium payment it facilitates, Coverdash’s renewal authorization permits automatic renewal with a premium increase of up to 20% if no material coverage terms change. Larger increases or material changes require renewed consent. 28
That threshold governs renewed consent, not the maximum price an insurer can offer. A company requiring sign-off on every increase should establish its opt-out and approval process before renewal, including any renewed premium-finance agreement. Corgi’s published growth-servicing description can support change requests, but does not establish an equivalent consent threshold. Obtain its account-specific renewal process too. 28 2 1
Certificates, Endorsements and Claims Contacts
Coverdash documents self-service certificates that can draw on multiple policies and says agent-assisted requests may take up to two business days. For recurring customer requests, ask whether the startup’s usual certificate can be generated without assistance and which requests require an endorsement. Corgi’s dashboard supports coverage upgrades, but its disclosures likewise distinguish a certificate from a document changing insurance. A certificate is proof of listed coverage; it does not create the additional-insured protection a contract might require. 35 24 2 1
For claims, Coverdash describes reporting through the account or support team and connection to the insurer. Corgi describes affiliated or third-party administrators with responsibility for coverage decisions and payments remaining with the issuing insurer. Ask who receives urgent cyber notices and who keeps the finance team informed. These are different described service arrangements, not evidence of faster settlements or better claim decisions. 26 36 1
What to Confirm in Quotes
- A contract-to-coverage map: software liability, cyber response and board requirements, including the specific forms and insurers rather than just coverage names. 2 39 40
- The placement and authority record: Coverdash’s markets approached and broker designation; Corgi’s proposed affiliated or partner insurers; written effective-date confirmation from both. 30 24 1
- A total by policy: premium, taxes, Coverdash’s Technology Access Fee, any client or producer fees, financing and cancellation charges. 27 34 1
- A renewal approval calendar: who reviews changes, when any opt-out must be processed and whether financing paperwork can be executed under existing authority. 28 1
- A service demonstration for your recurring request: a certificate covering the selected policies, the separate endorsement process and the insurer’s incident-reporting instructions. 35 36 1
Service Comparison
Corgi vs Coverdash: documented services and availability
| Criteria | Corgi | Coverdash |
|---|---|---|
| Customer focus | Corgi offers business insurance for technology companies and startups, with packages for pre-seed and seed, Series A, and growth-stage businesses, plus a custom option. 2,3,6,15 In August 2026, Corgi announced product filings for offices, retail, restaurants, personal services, self-storage, wholesalers, community associations, and small rental properties. Availability depends on the product and state. 9 | Coverdash is an insurance brokerage and online platform for small businesses, startups and e-commerce sellers. You can compare quotes, buy policies and manage coverage through its website or a partner’s embedded insurance service. 26,30,24 |
| Application process | You can apply online or book a call with a Corgi specialist. Corgi says eligible applicants can get a quote in minutes and buy coverage the same day. Its disclosures describe both an issued-policy-and-payment condition and temporary coverage under a written binder. Confirm the applicable conditions and effective date in writing. 2,1 | Coverdash’s public application begins with an email-address field. Its FAQ says to have your business name, address, industry, annual revenue and employee count ready; it describes online quote comparison and purchasing, with same-day coverage for most policies. 32,26 The FAQ says payment follows choosing and binding a policy, but the terms allow collecting payment before binding and later insurer rejection or repricing. Confirm the effective date and binding confirmation before relying on coverage. 26,24 Using the brokerage service means appointing Coverdash as broker or agent of record and working exclusively with it for those services unless otherwise agreed. 24 |
| Fees and compensation | Corgi Insurance Services may receive commissions or fees from the insurer or the customer. You can ask for the type and amount of compensation on your policy. 1 Corgi lists typical annual prices of $2,000–$5,000 for eligible pre-seed and seed startups and $5,000–$15,000 for Series A companies. Your price depends on the business, state, coverage, limits, and other underwriting details. 2,6,7 | Coverdash discloses a Technology Access Fee on each purchased policy, in addition to policy charges, and calls it fully earned and nonrefundable. The disclosure does not give its amount. 27 Coverdash may receive insurer or payment-servicer commissions, performance-related contingent or supplemental commissions, and negotiated client fees. It also discloses affinity-referral and administrative-service income. 27 Coverdash’s help center identifies Ascend as its payment and premium-finance partner. It explains that financing pays the annual premium upfront while the customer repays in installments. Confirm the current lender, interest and fees in the payment agreement. 34,28 |
| Servicing and renewals | Corgi says customers can add or upgrade policies through its dashboard as they raise funding, hire, or sign larger contracts. Renewal and cancellation terms depend on the policy and state rules. 2,1 | The public sign-in page describes resuming applications, reviewing policies and billing requests, downloading certificates and contacting an account manager. Coverdash’s FAQ directs customers through their account to request coverage changes or cancellation. 33,26 Coverdash’s certificate guide describes self-service PDF certificates, selection of multiple policies and an e-commerce marketplace template. It says requests for agent assistance can take up to two business days. 35 For policies whose billing and premium payment it facilitates, Coverdash’s renewal authorization permits automatic renewal with a premium increase of up to 20% if no material coverage terms change. Larger increases or material changes require renewed consent. 28 The authorization permits necessary renewal paperwork, including a new premium-finance agreement. Customers can opt out or request cancellation through the dashboard, with processing time; the insurer still decides whether to renew. 28 |
| Claims assistance | Corgi describes a claims team that helps with reporting an incident, documentation, legal coordination, and progress updates. An affiliated team or third-party administrator may handle the claim; the insurer named in the policy remains responsible for coverage decisions and payment. 1,2,12 | Coverdash says customers can start a claim through their account or support team, which connects them with the insurer and guides the process. Its help article directs customers to Claims, then New Claim. 26,36 |
