Beazley vs
Coalition
Compare combined technology/cyber insurance and security-service obligations at Beazley and Coalition for a SaaS company.
Introduction
A SaaS company comparing technology E&O and cyber proposals should also ask who will use the associated security services. Coalition combines Tech E&O with cyber and markets Control monitoring tools. Beazley offers MediaTech and separately describes FullSpectrum Cyber services. The comparison must keep policy coverage, included services and optional security purchases on distinct schedules. 21 28 1 9

Key Differences Between Beazley and Coalition
Selecting Tech E&O Can Change the Insurance Route
Coalition’s broker instructions add Tech E&O during a cyber quotation with product and contract questions. Its product comparison places Tech E&O under surplus coverage, while admitted cyber has a separately named insurer. A California admitted-cyber offering therefore does not identify the carrier or form for the combined Tech E&O quote. Beazley’s older MediaTech application names an insurer but leaves current California product acceptance unresolved. 32 31 23 2 5
Security Features Have Conditions and Boundaries
Coalition says Control policyholder features include monitoring, alerts and guidance at no additional cost; Login Security requires connecting a Microsoft or Google environment. It promotes additional security products separately, and its legal disclosures distinguish the security entity from insurance operations. Beazley’s FullSpectrum description includes security support and vendor benefits, but those should not automatically be assigned to every MediaTech quote. Ask which services the actual policy unlocks and what access the company must provide. 28 22 9 1
For a lean engineering team, a useful proposal should identify who receives alerts, who remediates issues and which subscriptions create extra charges. Neither provider’s service description proves that monitoring prevents a claim or that all recommendations are conditions of coverage. Obtain the contractual obligations rather than inferring them from a dashboard feature. 28 9
AI Language and Renewals Need Their Own Review
Coalition maps AI-related losses to existing insuring agreements and markets a Deepfake Response endorsement. That is not an unrestricted warranty of model performance. Beazley’s MediaTech sample has specific exclusions and is older. If the SaaS product includes AI, identify the applicable agreement and endorsement for the actual allegation rather than relying on either broad technology label. 38 3
Coalition describes Automatic, Express and Standard cyber renewal paths beginning 90 days before expiration, with different response requirements. Beazley publishes a MediaTech renewal application. Confirm the account’s assigned path and required updates; an automatic process is not a promise of unchanged price or coverage. 35 4

Service Comparison
Beazley vs Coalition: documented services and availability
| Criteria | Beazley | Coalition |
|---|---|---|
| Coverage lines | MediaTech combines technology and professional errors and omissions, media liability and cyber coverage. Beazley lists breach response, business interruption, dependent business interruption, extortion, data recovery and eCrime protections, with limits up to $5 million; the issued policy determines the cover purchased. 1 The linked MediaTech sample form is dated February 2019. It excludes patent infringement and trade-secret misappropriation related to technology or other products, and contains contractual-liability and retroactive-date restrictions. The sample is not evidence of the wording that will be offered today. 3,5 Execuguard offers private-company directors and officers, employment practices and fiduciary liability, with separate or shared limits across selected coverages. Beazley advertises both admitted and non-admitted options; state and account eligibility still need confirmation. 10 Beazley offers Commercial Crime for commercial companies and Financial Fidelity Bonds for financial institutions. Its crime page describes fraudulent-instruction coverage subject to out-of-band authentication, with possible removal of that condition for documented controls and an additional premium. 11 Virtual Care lists healthcare professional liability, technology liability, cyber, media, general liability and products/completed operations for digital-health businesses. Life Sciences offers product, professional and general liability through BioSecure, NutraGuard and WellTech forms for different life-sciences exposures. 13,14 North American Commercial Property targets mid-sized and large commercial properties on an excess and surplus lines basis. Product Recall – Manufacturing Risk and Response separately addresses consumer goods, component parts and consumables, including product-removal and related income-loss costs. 15,16 BeazleyOne Environmental combines general, professional and contractors’ pollution liability for environmental-service firms, and lists hired and non-owned auto. US Marine offers hull and marine liability on primary and excess bases; this does not establish general corporate umbrella availability. 17,18 Beazley offers representations and warranties coverage for acquisitions. Its US Specialty Programs business works through managing general agents, program administrators and specialized brokers on professional, general, product, manufacturers’ E&O, cyber and allied-medical liability programs. 12,19 The posted Digital Media Tech application says liability coverage is claims-made and reported: the claim must be made and reported within the applicable policy terms. It also warns that claims expenses reduce the liability limit and are subject to retentions. 2 | Coalition offers technology errors and omissions (E&O) coverage for covered third-party financial losses arising from errors, omissions or negligence in technology products or services, combined with cyber insurance. 21 Coalition markets cyber insurance with breach-response expenses, cyber-extortion and business-interruption coverage, subject to the issued policy. 27 Miscellaneous Professional Liability covers professional-service errors and omissions and can be added to certain Coalition cyber policies. Its product page describes defense costs, settlements and judgments; eligibility and wording need confirmation. 26 Coalition’s Executive Risks suite lists directors and officers liability, employment practices liability, fiduciary liability and crime insurance. These address management decisions, employment disputes, benefit-plan management and criminal losses respectively. 25 Coalition lists U.S. surplus cyber excess coverage, with combined Tech E&O and MPL excess options. This is additional coverage above an underlying policy, not evidence of a general commercial umbrella offering. It requires underlying policy details and loss runs; the primary insurer leads claims response. 34 Coalition maps AI-related losses to its Active Cyber Policy’s existing insuring agreements, including media liability and Tech E&O for eligible businesses. It also markets a Deepfake Response endorsement. This does not establish unrestricted AI-product liability or a warranty of model performance. 38 |
| Availability | The reviewed MediaTech product page, application and US legal disclosures do not establish a current California-specific MediaTech form, admitted or surplus-lines route, or applicant eligibility. A California trade-name and license disclosure alone does not answer those product questions. 1,2,5,6 Beazley says its M&A team can underwrite and place transactions in all 50 US states. That company-reported statement includes California for M&A, but does not establish MediaTech availability or acceptance of a particular transaction. 12 | Coalition states that Executive Risks is available to private and nonprofit U.S. organizations in all states and Washington, D.C., with up to $500 million in assets, 1,000 employees and $500 million in plan assets, subject to limitations. 25 Coalition’s help center states that admitted and surplus cyber policies are offered in all 50 states and D.C., including California. Its product comparison lists Tech E&O and MPL under surplus coverage. This documents a California cyber placement route, but does not establish approval or the exact Tech E&O form for a particular applicant. 30,31 |
| Application process | Beazley describes MediaTech placement through third-party platforms or email. Its posted application requests the business’s services and products, employee count, US and non-US revenues, financial statements and expected business changes. A submitted application does not establish acceptance or an effective policy. 1,2 | Coalition directs buyers to an appointed insurance broker and offers help finding access if their broker does not offer Coalition. It describes underwriting that considers industry, finances, operations and security posture. 33 Coalition’s broker instructions describe adding Tech E&O during the cyber quote process, supplying a product or service description and answering contract-related questions. Some quotes require review before a price is released. 32 |
| Servicing and renewals | Beazley publishes a MediaTech renewal application. The reviewed renewal form and product page do not establish a guaranteed renewal, dedicated account manager, or turnaround commitment for policy changes. 4,1 Full Spectrum Cyber for small businesses combines Beazley Breach Response with security tools and services. Beazley describes incident-response coordination and discounted vendor services. Its myBeazley quote-and-bind route is for brokers handling accounts below $35 million in revenue and limits no higher than $5 million; these are cyber-route criteria, not MediaTech eligibility rules. 9 | Coalition describes Control policyholder features at no additional cost, including attack-surface monitoring, vendor-risk monitoring, vulnerability alerts and guidance. Login Security requires connecting a Microsoft or Google environment. Additional security products are promoted separately. 28 Coalition says cyber renewals begin 90 days before expiration and follow Automatic, Express or Standard paths based on the account. Express renewals require responses; Standard renewals require a bind order and updated signed application, with additional underwriting conditions for some accounts. Automatic renewal does not guarantee an unchanged premium. 35 |
