Mylo vs Newfront

Mylo and Newfront offer different ways to coordinate business insurance, employee benefits and recurring policy work.

Introduction

Mylo helps small and growing businesses choose coverage and shop available insurer quotes, online or with an advisor. Newfront arranges business insurance and employee benefits through specialist teams, with Navigator supporting ongoing policy administration. Both are brokers; the distinction is how much continuing coordination the engagement is meant to cover. 1 2 28 44 50

For a growing employer, the question is whether the immediate job is shopping a set of policies or organizing insurance, benefits and contract work under a continuing service agreement. Mylo also has benefits advisors and a service team, so this is not a distinction between advice and no advice. Ask each to price and describe the actual work the company needs. 14 4 28

Where Each Provider Shines

Where Mylo Shines

  • Buyers can shop online or with a licensed advisor; Mylo says it compares available quotes, with an agent finalizing most policies. 1,3
  • Employers with 2–99 employees can explore group benefits with a licensed advisor and a year-round HR portal. 14

Where Newfront Shines

  • Specialist teams support business insurance, employee benefits and risk management for companies from early stage to enterprise. 21,28,44
  • Newfront describes tools that help its team extract contract insurance requirements, compare them with policies and review coverage gaps. 52,53

Key Differences Between Mylo and Newfront

Intake, Market Approaches and Follow-Up

A small employer adding staff and taking on customers with more detailed insurance requirements can start from different intake paths. Mylo’s online or phone intake can provide a starting point for comparing available policies; it says an agent completes most purchases. Newfront begins with a consultation and describes assembling an industry team to present the business to underwriters. Neither starting point establishes the insurer’s acceptance or a binding date. 1 3 29 28

Give both the same operations description and customer requirements. For Mylo, request the carriers actually approached and who will handle any follow-up negotiation. For Newfront, ask which specialists will participate and which services require appointment as broker of record—the broker designated to service the policies. These questions distinguish a useful proposal from a comparison based on carrier-panel size or a platform demonstration. 1 23

Employee Benefits as a Separate Decision

Mylo markets small-group benefits with enrollment assistance, a benefits advisor and an HR portal. Newfront’s Total Rewards service includes benefits strategy and evaluation of different funding arrangements. If your employer is choosing a first benefits package, ask both to show plan choices and enrollment responsibilities. If it is considering retaining some medical-claim risk, ask Newfront to explain the funding analysis and ask Mylo what comparable advice its proposed engagement includes. The public descriptions do not establish which arrangement is appropriate for that employer. 14 45

Mylo markets small-group benefits to employers with 2–99 employees, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, accident and critical-illness options. It describes online or phone enrollment, a year-round HR portal and help from a licensed benefits advisor. 14

A benefits comparison needs its own agreement review. Newfront’s Total Rewards terms distinguish insurer commissions, client fees and additional compensation; they also contain renewal-notice and conditional Block Strategy exit provisions. Those are benefits-service terms, not a fee schedule for all Newfront business insurance. Mylo’s general commission-and-fee explanation likewise does not establish the compensation on a particular benefits placement. Request a separate benefits cost and commitment schedule from each. 46 2

Total Rewards agreements renew annually unless written nonrenewal notice is given at least 60 days in advance. Termination for convenience is allowed during renewal terms with 60 days’ written notice; the client must retain Newfront as broker of record through the current agreement term. Separately, a participating Block Strategy client ending the agreement for convenience during an active affected policy can owe an early-exit fee based on remaining premium savings. 46

Put the nonrenewal deadline on the purchasing calendar. Ask Newfront to identify the affected policies in the order form and show any exit cost alongside the proposed savings. Agree how plan information and servicing responsibilities would pass to a new advisor. 46

Contract Review, Certificates and Policy Changes

Newfront describes a contract-review tool that extracts insurance requirements and compares them with policies, supported by its team. It also markets vendor-certificate tracking through Partner Management. Those are concrete functions to evaluate if your operations staff repeatedly checks customer agreements and subcontractor paperwork; the descriptions do not prove error-free review or legal compliance. 52 51

Mylo’s published service directory supplies carrier contacts and a Mylo fallback. It does not establish one commercial-policy workflow across all carriers. Ask it to demonstrate how the proposed insurer handles the same contract request before assuming the absence of a named platform means the work cannot be done. With Newfront, confirm what is included in your service agreement and who approves any resulting policy change. 4 51 23

For example, if a customer needs revised coverage before work starts, a Navigator request remains preliminary until written carrier approval arrives. A Mylo service contact is also only the start of the process: request the issued endorsement and effective date from the responsible insurer. A certificate or completed request is not the policy amendment. 23 3 4

Service Price and Claims Assignment

Mylo explains that carrier commissions usually fund its service, with a customer fee in some transactions where it handles billing. Newfront’s reviewed business-insurance pages do not supply a standard fee schedule. Price the same scope: placement, contract assistance, certificates, renewal marketing and claims help, identifying any separately billed work. Mylo’s free shopping statement and Newfront’s included Partner Management tool each concern a defined service, not every charge on an insurance purchase. 2 28 51

The claims descriptions also support a specific question. Mylo publishes carrier reporting contacts; Newfront describes pre-loss reporting plans and advocacy in coverage disputes. If your team expects help responding to a denial or a reservation of rights—a carrier’s notice that it may dispute coverage—ask each broker who will do that work and how it is paid for. Documented advocacy is a service scope, not evidence of better claim payments; the insurer remains responsible under the policy. 4 54

What to Confirm in Quotes

  • A placement and service assignment: which insurers will receive the submission, who handles contract exceptions, and which responsibilities stay with your employees? Include any broker-of-record appointment. 1 28 23
  • A separate benefits proposal: request the actual plan options, funding responsibilities, enrollment service, compensation and exit terms. Do not combine a benefits agreement with the property-and-casualty price comparison. 14 45 46
  • One worked contract request: give each broker the same requirement and ask for the proposed endorsement, approving insurer and effective date, plus the process for later changes. 3 52 23
  • An annual service and cost schedule: identify carrier commissions, client fees, billing responsibility, renewal work and claims escalation contacts, with included and separately charged tasks. 2 4 28 54

Service Comparison

Mylo vs Newfront: documented services and availability

CriteriaMyloNewfront
Business role

Mylo describes itself as an independent insurance broker for small and growing businesses. It recommends coverage and compares available quotes from multiple insurers rather than issuing its own policies. 1,2

Mylo says it launched within Lockton Companies in 2015 and now has Group 1001 as its backer. A May 2023 Kansas City Business Journal report said Group 1001 became the majority investor and Mylo was no longer part of Lockton; the reviewed sources did not provide a newer ownership percentage. 2,16,17

Mylo, LLC operates the website and is the named insurance agency. Its footer identifies Mylo Insurance Solutions, LLC as a trade name in California, Illinois, Michigan and North Dakota, and Mylo Solutions, LLC as a trade name in New York. 1,3,18,19

Mylo also supplies an embedded insurance-shopping service to other companies and insurance agencies. A buyer entering through a partner should identify whether Mylo, the partner or another licensed entity is the producer for the transaction. 15,16

WTW announced that it completed its acquisition of Newfront on January 27, 2026. Newfront’s Business Insurance team joined WTW’s Risk & Broking segment, while Total Rewards joined Health, Wealth & Career. 22

Newfront’s current terms use the name Newfront Insurance Services. An older official disclosure identifies ABD Insurance and Financial Services, Inc. as the agency behind the Newfront brand following its 2022 merger. The current site calls Newfront Insurance Services a trade name; confirm the full contracting producer name on your engagement agreement. 23,21,25

Newfront’s brokerage team analyzes risks and negotiates insurance placement. Its claims service acts as a liaison with the carrier. The broker’s advice and advocacy do not make Newfront the insurer responsible for the policy. 28,32,54,23

Application process

A business buyer can answer questions about the company and industry online or work by phone with a licensed advisor. Mylo says its system recommends coverage and compares available quotes; some carrier and coverage combinations can be purchased online, but an agent finalizes the policy in most cases. 1,3

Mylo’s Terms of Use say a purchase may carry additional transaction terms, require accurate and complete application answers and is not guaranteed to result in an issued policy. The posted site terms were last updated in November 2018, so buyers should review the current terms presented with a quote. 3

The public buying path starts with a consultation request. The form asks for your role, company, contact details, industry, employee count, and the service you need. It does not display a premium or bind coverage. 29

Newfront describes assembling a team for your industry, reviewing your business and risk exposures, and presenting that information to underwriters. Its technology practice describes onboarding and renewal reviews, with additional market shopping when appropriate. The reviewed public pages do not promise a universal quote or binding turnaround. 28,49,29

Some online services may require you to appoint Newfront as broker of record—the broker designated to service your insurance. Ask which tools and services are included before signing that appointment. 23

Life-science clients can use Newfront’s Clinical Trial Portal to check country requirements, upload documents, and request quotes. The public description does not establish automatic approval or a guaranteed time to receive coverage. 38

Servicing and renewals

The reviewed public pages identify Mylo advisors, a service-professional fallback and a benefits HR portal, but do not establish one universal workflow for commercial policy changes, certificates, renewals or cancellations across carriers. 1,4,14

Newfront says Navigator brings together policy documents, certificates, claims information, payment tools, and communication with the service team. Its Executive Risk page describes renewal submissions pre-filled with historical data and document sharing with access controls. 50,31

A policy or coverage change requested through Navigator remains preliminary until the applicable carrier approves it and provides written confirmation. A submitted request is not evidence that the new coverage is in force. 23

Newfront says its Partner Management tool is included in client service agreements at no additional cost. It tracks vendor certificates, expiration dates, compliance issues, and follow-up activity inside Navigator. This is a statement about that tool, not a promise of free brokerage services. 51

Newfront’s Contract Review tool extracts insurance requirements, compares them with current policies, provides source citations, and notifies the Newfront team. Its Coverage Gap Analysis tool supports the team’s policy reviews. These are company-described functions; the reviewed materials do not independently establish accuracy or prove that all gaps will be detected. 52,53

Newfront’s March 2026 privacy notice describes integration with WTW as ongoing and anticipates substantial integration by year-end, subject to legal and contractual limits. That is a stated plan, not confirmation that systems, data practices, or service agreements have already been unified. 24

Fees and compensation

Mylo says its guided shopping service is free and that 95% of customers do not pay Mylo a fee when purchasing. It generally earns a carrier commission; in fewer than 5% of transactions, it says it charges a fee when it handles billing and incurs higher administrative costs. The reviewed disclosure does not give the fee amount. 2

A standard business-insurance fee schedule, commission percentage, or premium range was not found in the reviewed business, consultation, and general-terms pages. Request an account-specific disclosure of brokerage fees, insurer commissions, other remuneration, and any separately billed services. 28,29,23

For Total Rewards, the order form sets compensation. The published terms allow insurer-paid commissions or client fees and disclose additional carrier compensation tied to the wider book of business. They also address non-cash compensation, retained unused carrier funds, and separate pass-through expenses. Newfront says supplemental commissions will not affect its recommendations. 46

Claims assistance

Mylo publishes carrier-specific support and claims contacts and directs customers to the insurer for many service needs. If a carrier is not listed, the page gives a Mylo Service Professional number; it does not promise that Mylo decides or pays claims. 4

Newfront describes helping establish reporting protocols before a loss, reviewing how a policy may respond, and acting as the buyer’s liaison with the carrier. Its advocates address coverage-reservation and denial letters, counsel selection, vendor rates, reimbursement, and allocation disputes. This documents claims assistance, not a promise that a claim will be paid. 54
