Introduction
Both firms can be part of a brokered placement, but Embroker also describes proprietary programs and an online quote entry. WTW’s cited terms define a conventional intermediary process for Corporate Risk & Broking. Before comparing proposals, establish which Embroker program or third-party market is involved, whether either firm is broker of record, and who will own renewals and policy access if the relationship changes. 10 2 27

Current Spot Scores
Each score uses the rubric for that provider’s documented role. Providers with more than one role may have a score for each.
Embroker
BrokerBroker
5.1/ 10Assessed provider: Embroker. Scope: Embroker, Inc. and Embroker Insurance Services LLC as a U.S. digital insurance platform and producer; product-specific insurers include Everspan Indemnity Insurance Company and Everest National Insurance Company for named programs, not the entire catalogue.
WTW
BrokerBroker
7.0/ 10Assessed provider: WTW. Scope: WTW commercial insurance brokerage (Corporate Risk & Broking), assessed at brand level from WTW's terms, its 2025 SEC filing and U.S., U.K., Irish and Belgian regulator records. It does not assess one placement, one insurer, or WTW's consulting, benefits or investment businesses.

Embroker’s reviews are mixed, and BBB records a complaint-response concern. The feedback is too limited to establish consistent service quality.[4][6][7]

WTW has little useful review evidence for a business buyer. Its one counted score is 807 out of 1,000 from a 2017 J.D. Power study of large commercial brokers, and Trustpilot's 2.1 from 9 reviews isn't counted.[4][2]

Separate Embroker’s Program from Its Brokerage Service
Embroker says it may offer its own programs directly or through other brokers and may perform underwriting work under insurer guidelines, while the insurer named in the policy carries the risk. WTW’s terms describe it as the client’s intermediary and explain its role in obtaining the insurer’s commitment. A proposal should name the legal producer, insurer, program and any authority delegated to Embroker rather than relying on a platform or brand label. 10 2 27
Compare Quote Entry with the Actual Underwriting Process
Embroker provides an online quote entry, but the reviewed source establishes only that starting point; an application may require more information or be declined. WTW’s terms likewise distinguish an insurer quote from coverage and require a client bind instruction followed by a formal insurer commitment. Ask each firm for the remaining underwriting steps, decision owner and written evidence that coverage has started. 26 2 27
Plan for Renewal and a Possible Broker Change
Embroker says some policies renew through the insurer while others need a new application; access to account services and certain proprietary-product renewals may end when its brokerage relationship ends. WTW’s terms describe its document-review work but leave the client responsible for reviewing policy documents too. Before binding, get the renewal owner, notice dates, policy-download access and transition process in writing for either arrangement. 4 27
What to Confirm in Quotes
- Is the Embroker proposal a proprietary program, an insurer product placed by Embroker, or a placement through another broker?
- Which legal producer and insurer appear on the proposal and policy?
- What information remains after the online start, and what confirms binding and the effective date?
- Who handles renewal, certificates, policy changes and access if you move brokers?
- Request premium, fees, contingent compensation and finance charges separately. 3 27

| Criteria | Embroker | WTW |
|---|---|---|
| Business role | A lawyers’ liability specimen names Embroker Insurance Services LLC as producer. Confirm the producer and insurer named for your own policy. 15Company-reported. Producer named in the lawyers’ liability specimen only. This fact does not establish ultimate ownership, the producer for every product or nationwide licensing. Embroker offers its own programs directly and through other brokers; it may do underwriting work under insurer guidelines, but the insurer named in your policy carries the risk. 10,2Company-reported. Program distribution and delegated work as described by the company. Not a finding of statutory MGA status or identical authority on every product. The reviewed materials do not establish Embroker, Inc.’s ultimate beneficial ownership. 7Not found in reviewed sources. Ultimate beneficial ownership remains unresolved; the reviewed materials do not establish a current controlling parent. Funding or partnership is not ownership proof. | For Corporate Risk & Broking engagements governed by its North American terms, WTW says it normally acts as the client’s insurance intermediary. The terms separately disclose that WTW or affiliates may provide insurer-side services, including in some MGA or program-manager arrangements. 27,28Company-reported. Corporate Risk & Broking engagements governed by WTW’s North American terms. This describes the ordinary role under those terms and the disclosed possibility of separate insurer-side services; it does not establish an insurer-side role in a particular engagement or make every WTW business exclusively buyer-side. WTW’s US product disclosures name Willis Towers Watson Northeast, Inc. as one of the licensed entities through which the group offers insurance products. WTW plc’s 2025 subsidiary exhibit lists that company among its subsidiaries as of December 31, 2025, but does not identify its direct or intermediate owner. 29,33Company-reported. WTW group-level US product-distribution disclosure and WTW plc Exhibit 21.1 dated 2025-12-31. “Licensed entity” is the company’s description; neither source verifies current authority by state or line, identifies the producer for a particular placement, or establishes the direct/intermediate ownership chain. |
| Customer focus | Funded startups, technology firms, law firms and other professional-services businesses can apply online or get broker help buying and managing coverage through Embroker. 1,2,4Company-reported. Current public customer positioning and documented distribution channels; no claim that every applicant is eligible. | At WTW’s December 2024 Investor Day, management described Risk & Broking as roughly half large business and half middle market and below; the answer did not give a US-specific share. 31Company-reported. Management commentary in the December 3, 2024 Investor Day Risk & Broking Q&A. The answer says “our business”; it does not expressly characterize the split as worldwide, provide a US-specific share or customer count, or guarantee account-tier eligibility. WTW’s US manufacturing practice says it combines manufacturing expertise and data analytics in insurance-program design, and that its broking specialists have access to the global insurance market to identify insurer partners suited to a client’s risk. 30Company-reported. WTW’s US manufacturing industry page, “How we serve our clients.” This is a company-described practice approach, not independent evidence of actual placement breadth, a guaranteed insurer fit, or a placement outcome. |
| Application process | Embroker provides an online quote entry; the reviewed observation establishes the entry point, not the fields collected. 26Company-reported. Read-only observation of the public quote entry at https://app.embroker.com/signup on 15 September 2026; no form submitted or account created. An online account alone does not appoint Embroker as your broker; using its brokerage requires a broker-of-record appointment and usually exclusive work with Embroker for those services. 2Company-reported. Terms §2A; distinction between software access and brokerage engagement, not an interpretation of enforceability. An application may need more underwriting details or be declined, and a quote alone does not start coverage. 2Company-reported. Terms §13. No quote or binding transaction performed. | Under WTW’s North American Corporate Risk & Broking terms, an insurer quote is an offer, not confirmation of coverage, and may change or be withdrawn before the client orders binding. If the client chooses to bind, WTW says it will secure a formal insurer commitment, typically a binder. 27,28Company-reported. Commercial placements governed by WTW’s North American Corporate Risk & Broking terms, June 1, 2025, p. 4. An insurer commitment/binder follows the client’s order to bind; this does not establish a self-service online journey or promise that a quote will remain available. |
| Servicing and renewals | Existing policyholders may renew legacy management products, but new customers use EMIS; switching requires a new application, according to Embroker. 9Company-reported. Launch announcement’s stated transition rules as of research date; not a renewal guarantee. Broker-of-record clients can download policies and certificates from Embroker’s account; custom certificate wording may require a policy endorsement. 4Company-reported. FAQ Other insurance services; payment/down-payment conditions apply to first-time certificate access. Not independently tested in an authenticated account. Check your renewal deadline: some Embroker policies renew through the insurer, while others require a fresh application and underwriting; the effective date on the new policy controls when protection starts. 4Company-reported. FAQ Renewals. No automatic-renewal promise across all products and no tested service response time. Before switching brokers, check access to certificates, policy changes and renewal of proprietary products; Embroker says those account functions may end when its brokerage relationship ends. 4Company-reported. FAQ Engaging Embroker, What happens if I leave Embroker in the future? Not a finding that existing insurance cancels automatically on a broker change. | WTW’s North American terms say it reviews binders, policies and endorsements against negotiated specifications and client instructions and advises on errors or recommended changes. The terms also expect the client to review those documents. 27,28Company-reported. Clients governed by WTW’s North American Corporate Risk & Broking terms, June 1, 2025, p. 5. This describes a stated document-review process and the client’s separate essential review duty; it is not a guarantee all errors will be detected or corrected. |
