Embroker vs Vouch

Compare Embroker’s technology-program eligibility and excess rules with Vouch’s multi-carrier brokerage as a software business adds financial-services activities.

Introduction

Embroker combines commercial brokerage with proprietary technology errors and omissions (E&O)/cyber programs. Vouch is a business-insurance broker that presents carrier options and serves technology and financial-services companies. For a software business considering crypto or blockchain activities, the comparison starts with a documented eligibility boundary: Embroker’s specified primary technology program excludes those activities, while Vouch expressly markets to that sector. 10 11 28 33

Where Each Provider Shines

Where Embroker Shines

  • Its Management Insurance Suite brings several management coverages into one application, with technology E&O/cyber for eligible technology businesses. 9
  • Separate technology and law-firm packages group coverage around those businesses’ activities, subject to the offered policy terms. 17,16

Where Vouch Shines

  • Vouch says its advisors explain carrier options side by side, including differences in coverage, exclusions, endorsements and pricing. 34
  • Buyers can request a complimentary coverage review and reviews of insurance requirements in customer, lease and funding agreements. 44,45

Key Differences Between Embroker and Vouch

Crypto Eligibility and Technology Programs

an established software company adds a crypto-related service. Embroker’s Access technology-program appetite says no involvement in crypto or blockchain. Vouch’s technology practice explicitly lists crypto among its areas of expertise. That gives the company a reason to investigate a Vouch placement and to ask Embroker whether it has another route outside the named program, before reusing the expiring application. 11 33 2

The restriction is not evidence that every Embroker broker will decline all crypto-related business. Equally, Vouch’s sector page is a marketing invitation, not acceptance of the particular service or a promise that every relevant risk is covered. Describe the activity precisely and request written eligibility from the proposed insurer. The distinction changes where to seek a proposal; the offer still decides the coverage. 2 11 33 35

For software work that remains within the relevant appetite, both have overlap in technology E&O, cyber and management liability. Embroker offers a defined technology program and selectable Management Insurance Suite (EMIS) components. Vouch’s technology catalogue includes those lines and its advisors explain differences among carrier offers. Ask each to identify the services being insured and the components selected, rather than treating either site’s catalogue as a package automatically purchased. 11 9 33 34

Contract Wording and Policy Forms

A customer adding the new service to its contract may also request different insurance wording. Vouch describes reviewing customer, funding and lease requirements. Embroker’s technology program advertises software-code infringement, while its retail E&O page lists intellectual-property exclusions. Request the proposed forms and a written response to the actual contract’s infringement clause; neither a broad technology label nor an advisor’s summary reconciles the two Embroker descriptions. 45 11 12

If Vouch proposes Corix, identify the current product and selected modules. Corix’s public application offers cyber, E&O and media selections and says defense spending reduces the available liability limit unless endorsed otherwise. Those are questions for a form comparison with the Embroker offer; they should not be attributed to all Vouch carrier options. Ask how defense costs, covered services and contract liabilities work in each proposed policy. 41 34 11

Compatible Excess Placements

Embroker’s excess technology product requires eligible underlying Tech E&O, with or without cyber, and does not accept cyber-only underlying insurance. Its retail FAQ also says that excess product cannot sit over an Embroker primary. A business choosing an Embroker primary therefore needs a separate plan for a customer’s larger limit requirement; a familiar brand on both product pages does not establish that the policies can be stacked. 13 12

Vouch’s multi-carrier service gives the buyer a route to investigate a combined placement, but does not establish access to Embroker’s program or automatic compatibility between carriers. Ask for the primary and excess forms, accepted activities and attachment terms—the conditions under which the excess insurer begins responding. Keep the new crypto activity in that submission; satisfying a limit requirement does not cure an eligibility problem. 34 33 13

Current Entities and Renewal Access

Vouch’s current brokerage disclosure names Vouch Specialty Insurance Services, LLC. Corix identifies itself as the former Vouch Insurance Services, LLC, and Hiscox’s annual report records the Corix acquisition. Old Vouch-branded underwriting materials should therefore be matched to the actual current program, rather than used to describe every Vouch brokerage offer. Embroker likewise names issuing insurers by product; its broker/platform role is distinct from their policy obligations. 28 38 37 9 2

If Vouch would take over an existing Embroker placement, confirm its program access and renewal plan. Embroker says a receiving broker outside Access may not renew proprietary products, and departure affects account-based certificates and policy changes. Vouch’s documented renewal coordination is useful, but is not proof of an Embroker appointment. Ask whether the proposal retains the current policy, replaces it or uses another market at renewal. 4 34 48

Service, Claims Advocacy and Compensation

Vouch offers contract and coverage review, with carrier differences explained by advisors; Embroker supplies policy/certificate tools and broker support, with proprietary products also available through appointed brokers. Agree who will confirm the new service description, arrange endorsements and provide evidence to customers. A certificate records insurance information but does not itself supply a requested policy amendment. 45 44 47 4 10

Vouch explicitly offers claims advocacy at no additional cost to clients, including a dedicated advocate and insurer communication. Embroker gives policy-specific reporting instructions and a hotline route for active cyber incidents. Save the actual insurer’s emergency notice and consent instructions separately from routine account contacts. These documented services do not establish which insurer pays claims faster or accepts more claims. 49 50 19

Both disclose distribution compensation and possible payment costs. Embroker’s software is free, with client fees negotiated and approved before binding where applicable. Vouch discloses commissions, possible performance compensation, transaction charges and financing through Ascend. Its no-additional-cost claims advocacy does not mean every part of the insurance purchase is fee-free. Request the full annual proposal, including replacement and financing costs, against the same accepted operations. 3 2 28

What to Confirm in Quotes

  • Which product accepts the activity? Submit the crypto/blockchain description and distinguish the named Embroker program from another brokerage placement. 11 33
  • What answers the customer contract? Request covered-services, infringement and defense-cost wording, including selected Corix modules if proposed. 12 45 41
  • How are higher limits built? Confirm underlying-policy eligibility, actual excess access and the form of each layer. 13 12 34
  • Who handles the transition? Record broker access, replacement dates, incident contacts, included advocacy and all charges. 4 19 49 28

Service Comparison

Embroker vs Vouch: documented services and availability

CriteriaEmbrokerVouch
Customer focus

Embroker is a business insurance broker and online platform for buying and managing coverage. It serves funded startups, technology companies, law firms, investment firms and other professional-services businesses. You can apply online or get help arranging insurance from its brokers. 1,2,4

Vouch is a business insurance broker and risk advisor for growing companies. Its customers include startups and established businesses in technology, healthcare and life sciences, professional services, and financial services. Buyers can start an application online and work with advisors to arrange coverage. 27,32,33

Application process

The public quote-start screen asks for a company name and whether the company has a website. It links the terms and compensation disclosure before continuing. 26

An account alone does not appoint Embroker as your broker. Using its brokerage service requires a broker- or agent-of-record designation and exclusive work with Embroker for those services unless otherwise agreed. 2

An application may need additional underwriting information or be declined; a quote itself does not put insurance in force. 2

Vouch’s public application starts with your legal business name, website, business address and location type, followed by your role and contact details. There is a separate sign-in path for an existing application or policy. 32

Vouch says its platform presents carrier options together, with differences in coverage, exclusions, endorsements and pricing explained by advisors. The reviewed pages do not promise a fixed number of quotes or a search of every insurer. 34

Vouch says many technology companies can arrange coverage within days, with smaller programs sometimes completed in minutes. Those are company timing claims. Its buying guide says coverage requires binding confirmation and the effective date, with underwriting and payment conditions satisfied. 33,35

Access to insurers

Embroker names Everspan Indemnity Insurance Company as the insurer for EMIS and its excess Tech E&O/Cyber program. Its lawyers’ professional liability program names Everest National Insurance Company. These are product-specific relationships, not one carrier for the entire catalogue. 9,13,14,15

Corix’s disclosures name State National Insurance Company, Inc. for its admitted offerings and United Specialty Insurance Company for certain surplus-lines offerings. These are Corix program disclosures; they do not identify the insurer on every policy placed by Vouch. 39

Corix’s public management liability application names United Specialty Insurance Company. It offers directors and officers, employment practices and fiduciary liability selections, with a warning about claims-made liability and defense costs reducing the limit unless endorsed otherwise. 53

Fees and compensation

Embroker’s software is free. Insurance services can generate insurer commissions, contingent compensation linked to business results, and supplemental commissions. Embroker may also negotiate client fees alongside or instead of commissions, approved before binding, usually in writing. 3

Payment processors and premium-finance lenders can add their own charges. Ask for the total cost and installment terms separately from Embroker’s compensation. 2

Vouch Specialty earns commissions on insurance sales and may also receive compensation based on the performance of the products sold. Its disclosure invites questions about compensation on a specific proposal or placement; it does not publish a commission percentage. 28

Vouch may pass through credit-card, debit-card or ACH transaction fees where permitted. Its disclosure lists wire and check as alternatives and says premium financing may be offered through Slash Eureka, Inc., doing business as Ascend, or an affiliate. 28

Servicing and renewals

EMIS replaces the two previous management-liability offerings for new customers. Embroker says existing policyholders can continue renewing their legacy products; switching to EMIS requires a new-business application. 9

The FAQ describes downloadable policies and certificates for accounts where Embroker is the broker of record. Custom certificate wording may require a policy endorsement first. 4

Renewals vary: some policies renew through the insurer, while others need a fresh application and underwriting. Embroker describes reviewing the proposal, accepting it and paying or arranging financing; the new policy’s effective date controls when the renewal begins. 4

If you move to another broker, Embroker says you lose account-based certificate issuance and policy-change functions. A replacement broker outside Embroker Access may also be unable to renew proprietary products. 4

Vouch offers a complimentary coverage review that it describes as identifying gaps and comparing a program with industry peers. It also offers reviews of insurance requirements in leases, customer agreements and funding arrangements. 44,45

Vouch says customers can request certificates of insurance through their account and include a third party in the request. A certificate summarizes insurance; the policy and any required endorsements determine that third party’s actual coverage. 46,47

Vouch says it coordinates documentation, communication and renewal cycles across carriers. Its renewal guide asks buyers to prepare updated financials, claims history and business changes, starting 30–60 days before renewal. That is preparation guidance, not a guaranteed service timetable or automatic renewal commitment. 34,48
