Amelia Risk vs Embroker

Compare a broker-assembled technology program with Embroker’s management suite, including renewal and broker-transfer implications.

Introduction

A technology company raising capital may want D&O and employment coverage alongside technology E&O and cyber. Amelia Risk describes assembling a program with insurers. Embroker's Management Insurance Suite, or EMIS, brings several of those decisions into one application. The comparison is whether the proposed bundle and its renewal path fit the company's next stage. 7 4 37

Key Differences Between Amelia Risk and Embroker

One Application Does Not Mean One Coverage Decision

EMIS offers D&O, employment-practices and fiduciary coverage, plus Tech E&O/Cyber for eligible technology businesses; buyers can select individual lines or a bundle. Amelia's technology list covers similar leadership and operating needs, with a process of approaching insurers and discussing quotes. Compare exclusions, separate limits and retentions before treating an application-level bundle as a simpler insurance program. 37 7 4

Identify the Program and Its Insurer

Embroker names Everspan Indemnity Insurance Company for EMIS. Amelia does not name the insurers it would propose publicly. Embroker's broader catalogue is not all written by that same entity, and its retail and broker technology pages differ on intellectual-property language. A software business accepting contractual IP obligations should request the exact form rather than rely on either broad marketing description. 37 42 40 39 2

Plan for a Change of Program or Broker

Embroker says existing customers may renew legacy management products, but switching to EMIS requires a new-business application. Its FAQ also says a broker outside Embroker Access may be unable to renew proprietary products after a transfer. Amelia describes ongoing program updates as a company grows, without establishing access to those proprietary renewals. Ask about continuity before changing the broker of record or replacing coverage. 37 32 20

What to Confirm in Quotes

Request the insurer, California eligibility and version of each management and technology form. Compare treatment of prior work, pending circumstances and IP allegations. Ask whether a proposed renewal is a legacy product or EMIS, what a future broker transfer would change, and who can place excess limits: Embroker's retail FAQ says its excess product cannot sit above an Embroker primary policy. 40

Service Comparison

Amelia Risk vs Embroker: documented services and availability

CriteriaAmelia RiskEmbroker
Business role

Amelia Risk presents itself as an independent, women-owned insurance brokerage—not as an insurer. It says it identifies a company’s risks, discusses insurance products, represents the buyer to insurers, and recommends a program. The official pages reviewed do not name a licensed producer entity suffix, license number, or NPN. 1,2,4,20,19

Embroker Insurance Services LLC is the producer named in its public lawyers’ liability specimen. Florida’s corporate record lists Embroker, Inc. as the LLC’s authorized member. That identifies a corporate relationship, not the insurer on your policy. 43,35

Embroker distributes proprietary programs through its own channel and through other brokers using Embroker Access. Its terms also allow it to perform underwriting work for insurers under their guidelines; the issuing insurer bears the policy obligations. 38,30

The reviewed corporate record identifies Embroker, Inc. as an authorized member of the producer LLC; it does not establish Embroker, Inc.’s ultimate beneficial ownership. 35

Customer focus

Amelia Risk says it is a women-owned and operated insurance brokerage in San Francisco whose team works with startups and high-growth companies. Its specialty pages address startups, better-for-you food, beverage and cosmetic (CPG) companies, technology businesses (including software, hardware, robotics, AI, autonomous-vehicle software, and life sciences), and consumer-product or accessible-luxury brands. A company-hosted podcast transcript describes a primary CPG focus and work with higher-risk product categories such as baby food, skincare, and dietary supplements. Public pages do not state minimum revenue, headcount, or funding-stage eligibility. 1,3,4,5,6,7,8,22

Embroker is a business insurance broker and online platform for buying and managing coverage. It serves funded startups, technology companies, law firms, investment firms and other professional-services businesses. You can apply online or get help arranging insurance from its brokers. 29,30,32

Coverage lines

Amelia Risk publishes an Insurance Policies catalogue covering general liability and umbrella or excess, stock throughput (cargo), product recall, directors and officers (D&O), employment practices liability (EPL), workers compensation, cyber, and technology errors and omissions (Tech E&O). Specialty pages also list product liability, fiduciary liability, professional liability, a businessowner’s policy (BOP) with property, general liability, and hired and non-owned auto, owned and hired/non-owned auto, and employee crime as policies those clients should consider. Those labels are the firm’s marketed placement topics; they are not specimen forms, and they do not establish that every line is available to every applicant. 9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,5,6,7,8

Embroker’s August 2026 Management Insurance Suite (EMIS) brings D&O, employment practices, fiduciary liability and, for eligible technology companies, Tech E&O/Cyber into one application. Buyers may select individual coverages or a bundle. 37

The broker Tech E&O/Cyber program targets private, for-profit technology companies with revenue below $300 million. It requires multifactor authentication for accounts above $5 million in revenue and excludes businesses involved in crypto, blockchain or cannabis. 39

Embroker’s retail Tech E&O page lists intellectual-property infringement, copyright and libel among exclusions, while its broker program advertises software-code infringement coverage. The public descriptions do not reconcile that difference; request the proposed form and endorsements for your activities. 40,39

Embroker describes an AI endorsement for eligible Tech E&O/Cyber quotes addressing AI services, discrimination allegations and regulatory-investigation defense. It advertises up to $150,000 for algorithm-removal expenses. Obtain the endorsement to check triggers, exclusions and how that sublimit relates to the policy limit. 46

Embroker Access advertises up to $5 million of excess Tech E&O/Cyber above eligible underlying insurance. Its appetite requires a primary limit of at least $1 million and Tech E&O, with or without cyber; cyber-only underlying insurance is ineligible. 41

The retail Tech E&O FAQ says Embroker’s excess product cannot sit above an Embroker primary policy. An Embroker primary buyer therefore needs a separate answer about how to obtain higher limits. 40

The broker lawyers’ professional liability (LPL) program lists firms with 1–25 attorneys, no claims or law-license disciplinary actions, a physical address and risk-management and docket controls. It advertises pre-claim assistance without a deductible and defense-cost options. 42

The public Everest LPL specimen uses claims-made coverage: its insuring agreement ties protection to when a claim is made and reported and to a retroactive date for the underlying work. Its base wording makes claim expenses reduce the liability limit. Current marketing also describes defense costs outside the limit, so check which endorsements your quote includes. 43,42

The main catalogue offers business owner’s policies, general liability, commercial crime, cyber, D&O, employment practices, fiduciary liability, professional liability (including lawyers’ liability), Tech E&O/Cyber and workers’ compensation. 36

Embroker also has direct offerings for commercial auto, commercial property, product liability, surety bonds and key person life insurance, plus venture capital asset protection (VCAP) for investment firms. 49,50,52,51,48,53

The technology package combines Tech E&O/Cyber with a business owner’s policy. The law-firm package groups lawyers’ professional liability, cyber, a business owner’s policy and workers’ compensation. The package names do not establish identical terms across industries. 45,44

Access to insurers

Amelia Risk says it represents clients to the dozens of insurance companies with which it works and that its vertical focus supports relationships with underwriters, wholesale brokers, and carrier partners. The reviewed pages do not name those insurers, rating agencies, or program administrators, and they do not publish appointment lists. 4,2,21

Embroker names Everspan Indemnity Insurance Company as the insurer for EMIS and its excess Tech E&O/Cyber program. Its lawyers’ professional liability program names Everest National Insurance Company. These are product-specific relationships, not one carrier for the entire catalogue. 37,41,42,43

Application process

New business starts with a conversation or website contact form, not a public self-service binder. Amelia Risk describes four steps: understand the company and gather information; represent the buyer to insurers; review quotes and a recommendation with the client; then the client decides how to proceed. About copy says the firm will not ask clients to complete multiple PDFs or Word documents only to print, sign, and scan them back. A company-hosted interview describes D&O underwriting as possibly a matter of days or a few weeks with completed information, with a two-to-three-week comfortable budget—an illustrative timing comment, not a binding SLA. No public quote calculator or specimen application was found. 4,18,2,5,20,22

The public quote-start screen asks for a company name and whether the company has a website. It links the terms and compensation disclosure before continuing. 54

An account alone does not appoint Embroker as your broker. Using its brokerage service requires a broker- or agent-of-record designation and exclusive work with Embroker for those services unless otherwise agreed. 30

An application may need additional underwriting information or be declined; a quote itself does not put insurance in force. 30
