ERGO NEXT Insurance vs
Resilience
Compare ERGO NEXT’s cyber add-on with Resilience’s specialist cyber and technology E&O route for a small service business.
Introduction
A small service business may encounter cyber protection while buying general or professional liability online. ERGO NEXT markets cyber as an add-on to those policies; Resilience presents a specialist cyber and technology E&O route. A useful comparison begins with the actual add-on wording and the customer requirement it is meant to meet. 15 33 34

Key Differences Between ERGO NEXT Insurance and Resilience
An Add-on Depends on Its Base Policy
ERGO NEXT's cyber product description ties access to a general or professional liability policy. Ask which base product and business class qualify, what limit is available and what happens to cyber protection if the base policy changes. Resilience's specialist description permits a separate coverage discussion, but does not by itself establish acceptance of the business. 15 22 33
For a business that sells software as well as services, do not assume general professional liability is technology E&O. Resilience publishes technology-specific categories and a US revenue range; ERGO NEXT's professional-liability offering has its own applicant and policy qualifications. Ask each route to address the work that could generate a customer claim. 9 34
Brand Ownership and the Policy Issuer Are Separate
ERGO NEXT is the current brand following the group's acquisition by Munich Re. Its disclosures distinguish agencies from the affiliated insurer and other possible carriers. Resilience similarly identifies a distributor and underwriting alternatives. Neither group identity answers which entity issues the proposed cyber protection. 2 3 5 32
Online Help Is Not the Same as Incident Response
ERGO NEXT describes account management, online claims and an advocate. Its 24/7 AI assistant is distinct from the posted weekday human support hours. Resilience describes 24/7 in-house claims support and specialist responders. Compare emergency instructions separately from ordinary account support; the hours alone do not establish claims outcomes. 24 26 36
ERGO NEXT's terms also say payment does not bind coverage before carrier approval. Resilience's reviewed route does not establish a guaranteed binding time. If a customer is waiting on proof of insurance, obtain formal confirmation rather than relying on checkout progress. 4 37
What to Confirm in Quotes
Get the base policy and cyber endorsement together, then compare covered events, limits and vendor consent with the Resilience proposal. Confirm software-service eligibility, California product availability and the issuing entity. Retain separate contacts for account changes and emergency cyber notice. 15 4 32 36
Service Comparison
ERGO NEXT Insurance vs Resilience: documented services and availability
| Criteria | ERGO NEXT Insurance | Resilience |
|---|---|---|
| Business role | NEXT Insurance adopted the ERGO NEXT Insurance brand on January 15, 2026. Munich Re reports that it completed the full acquisition of Next Insurance in July 2025 and increased its ownership to 100%; ERGO is Munich Re’s primary-insurance business. 2,3 The ERGO NEXT terms group Next Insurance, Inc. with Next Insurance US Company, Next First Insurance Agency, Inc., Next Claims Management, Inc. and AP Intego Insurance Group, LLC. The terms describe ERGO NEXT as an agent representing insurance companies, while the license disclosure distinguishes agency subsidiaries from the affiliated insurer. 4,5 | Resilience combines cyber insurance and technology errors and omissions insurance with cybersecurity risk-management services. 31,33,34 Resilience identifies Ocrea Risk Services, LLC, doing business as Resilience Cyber Insurance Solutions, as its US insurance distributor and lists NPN 19169260. This company disclosure is not independent verification of a California license. 32 |
| Customer focus | ERGO NEXT Insurance sells commercial insurance for small businesses and self-employed workers through an online application, licensed advisors and agency partners. Buyers can request coverage, receive electronic documents and manage supported policies online. 1,7,24 | Resilience lists US technology E&O appetite of $25 million–$10 billion in revenue, including software, AI, hardware, technology services, data centers and telecommunications. Smaller startups should ask whether an exception is available. 34 |
| Application process | The public quote flow starts with industry and state, then shows stages for coverage, application, quote and purchase. ERGO NEXT says supported policies can be quoted and bought online; licensed advisors are also available. 23,7,24 A complete application and carrier underwriting approval are required. The terms say a premium payment does not bind coverage until the carrier approves the application, and a payment is refunded if the carrier declines it. 4,8 | Resilience presents insurance to brokers through a dedicated broker page and offers a public contact route for product inquiries. The reviewed pages do not document an end-to-end self-service purchase or a guaranteed quote or binding time. 35,37 |
| Servicing and renewals | Policyholders can use the online account to access electronic policy documents, update supported policy and payment details, create certificates, add additional insureds and request cancellation. Some changes require staff handling; the account FAQ says revised documents can take seven to ten business days in those cases. 25,4,24 The help center advertises a 24/7 AI assistant and U.S.-based insurance experts on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time. The reviewed sources do not promise licensed human support around the clock. 24 A direct customer can request cancellation through the online account. ERGO NEXT says it stops future monthly payments and the account FAQ describes a prorated premium refund, but separately earned service or card fees are generally nonrefundable and the terms allow a cancellation fee where applicable. 25,4 | Resilience markets Edge for prioritizing security spending by estimated financial impact, and Arc for viewing cyber risk across multiple entities. These are risk-management services, not additional insurance coverage lines. 38,39 Resilience states that buying insurance is not tied to buying security services. Confirm which services are included in the proposed package and which require a separate agreement. 32 The current broker and product pages reviewed do not specify renewal documentation, a renewal price commitment or a standard servicing turnaround. 35,33,34 |
| Claims assistance | ERGO NEXT describes online or app-based claim reporting, document upload, status access and a dedicated claims advocate. The issuing insurer and policy still control coverage and payment, so confirm the notice route for each direct or partner-issued policy. 26,4 | Resilience describes a 24/7 in-house claims team, a dedicated claims manager through settlement, and outside specialists in privacy law, forensics, recovery and crisis communications. These are company-reported service arrangements, not independently measured claims quality. 36 |
