Mylo vs ERGO NEXT Insurance

How Mylo’s multi-carrier shopping differs from ERGO NEXT Insurance’s online policies, add-ons and partner-product routes.

Introduction

Mylo is an independent broker that recommends coverage and compares available insurer quotes for small businesses. ERGO NEXT Insurance sells small-business policies online and through advisors and agencies; its group includes both agencies and an affiliated insurer, and it also uses other carriers. The choice is between a broker-led market search and ERGO NEXT’s documented product and account workflows, with the legal insurer still needing identification in either route. 1 2 27 24 25

A small service business adding a vehicle, accepting customer contracts and handling more client data has three connected tasks: assemble the right policies, keep proof current and understand the annual cost. Mylo and ERGO NEXT offer different documented ways to handle those tasks; website product labels alone cannot establish equivalent protection. 1 27

Where Each Provider Shines

Where Mylo Shines

  • Buyers can shop online or with a licensed advisor; Mylo says it compares available quotes, with an agent finalizing most policies. 1,3
  • Employers with 2–99 employees can explore group benefits with a licensed advisor and a year-round HR portal. 14

Where ERGO NEXT Insurance Shines

  • Small businesses can quote and buy supported policies online, with licensed advisors also available. 43,27,44
  • An online account supports policy documents, certificates, additional-insured requests and supported policy changes; some changes need staff assistance. 45,24,44

Key Differences Between Mylo and ERGO NEXT Insurance

Markets, Issuing Insurers and Binding Dates

Mylo’s carrier panel gives it multiple potential sources for a placement. Ask which insurers actually received your application, which returned terms and why the presented quote was selected. A panel count does not mean every insurer will quote, and Mylo’s Group 1001 backing does not make that group the insurer for the policy. 1 2

ERGO NEXT’s terms identify affiliated and non-affiliated carriers alongside several agency entities. Its group structure is therefore more specific than calling it simply a direct insurer. Ask which company issues each proposed policy and which agency handles the transaction; an ERGO NEXT logo does not settle either question. 24 25

For a deadline, distinguish a quote from permission to start the insured work. Mylo says an agent completes most purchases, although some combinations support online purchase. ERGO NEXT documents online quote and purchase steps, but its terms make coverage conditional on carrier approval even after premium payment. Ask both for outstanding requirements and written confirmation of the effective date. 1 3 24

Vehicle and Cyber Placement Structure

Mylo directly markets commercial-auto brokerage, including optional coverages dependent on the vehicles and business. ERGO NEXT’s commercial-auto page sends buyers to Progressive. For a business buying its first company vehicle, that partner route creates a concrete coordination question: will auto documents, changes and claims live with a separate service team from the liability policy? Ask Mylo the same question about its proposed auto insurer rather than assuming a broker combines every service channel. 6 4 33

Cyber introduces a different structural issue. ERGO NEXT offers it as an add-on to general or professional liability. Mylo markets cyber as a coverage-shopping category, but its public page does not establish the form or insurer a particular buyer receives. If a customer contract specifies cyber coverage, ask for the proposed limits and coverage parts, and whether changing the base liability policy would affect cyber. Do not assume an add-on is inadequate or a broker placement is broader merely because they are packaged differently. 35 8

Neither business’s producer-license disclosure establishes that the vehicle, profession, state and coverage combination is available. Resolve eligibility together with the proposed forms, especially if the new work crosses state lines. 1 24 25

Certificates and Policy Endorsements

ERGO NEXT documents self-service certificates and supported account changes. That is useful functionality for a business repeatedly sending proof to customers. Its account guidance separately directs special certificate language or endorsements to staff, and some revised documents require additional processing. Mylo supplies carrier-specific service contacts and a fallback service professional; confirm the actual certificate and change workflow for the carrier you select. 45 4

The practical test is a real requirement from your next contract. Can the existing policy support it? Does the insurer need to issue an endorsement—a document that changes the policy—and when will that change take effect? Generating a certificate quickly is useful only after the required coverage is established. Neither an online certificate nor a broker’s routing assistance proves the requested amendment has been accepted. 45 24 3

Shopping Cost, Policy Cost and Claims Contacts

Mylo’s compensation disclosure explains why a free shopping service can still involve carrier commissions and, in some billing arrangements, a customer fee. ERGO NEXT’s terms allow commissions and several charges beyond premium, including possible agency service and card fees. Compare the actual written charges for the same risk and policy period; neither model establishes a lower total price. 2 24

Mylo says its guided shopping service is free and that 95% of customers do not pay Mylo a fee when purchasing. It generally earns a carrier commission; in fewer than 5% of transactions, it says it charges a fee when it handles billing and incurs higher administrative costs. The reviewed disclosure does not give the fee amount. 2

ERGO NEXT states that monthly payments carry no interest, finance fee or late-payment fee. That is a useful financing distinction to compare with the payment terms on a Mylo-arranged policy; it does not waive separately permitted agency service, card or cancellation charges. ERGO NEXT also distinguishes annual coverage from monthly premium payments and allows premium adjustment after an audit. For a business whose payroll or operations are growing, request the adjustment basis and renewal payment authorization. With Mylo, obtain those terms from the proposed carrier and billing arrangement. A monthly amount is not the full price of either offer. 24 3 2

Claims should follow the same policy-by-policy map. ERGO NEXT describes online reporting and a claims advocate; Mylo publishes insurer reporting contacts. A Progressive auto referral or a different Mylo carrier can have separate instructions. Save them before a loss; the available assistance does not establish claim-payment quality. 46 33 4

What to Confirm in Quotes

  • The actual market and entity list: Mylo’s submitted markets and responses; ERGO NEXT’s producer and issuing insurer for each policy; separate information for any partner placement. 1 24
  • A vehicle and cyber coverage map: list vehicles and uses, cyber coverage parts, required base policies and what happens if one policy is changed or cancelled. 6 8 33 35
  • The next customer’s required endorsement: request the proposed wording and approval timetable alongside the certificate workflow. 4 45
  • A full-year invoice and service map: separate premium, taxes, commissions, service and payment fees; identify audit terms, renewal charges and claims contacts for auto and liability separately. 2 4 24 46

Service Comparison

Mylo vs ERGO NEXT Insurance: documented services and availability

CriteriaMyloERGO NEXT Insurance
Business role

Mylo describes itself as an independent insurance broker for small and growing businesses. It recommends coverage and compares available quotes from multiple insurers rather than issuing its own policies. 1,2

Mylo says it launched within Lockton Companies in 2015 and now has Group 1001 as its backer. A May 2023 Kansas City Business Journal report said Group 1001 became the majority investor and Mylo was no longer part of Lockton; the reviewed sources did not provide a newer ownership percentage. 2,16,17

Mylo, LLC operates the website and is the named insurance agency. Its footer identifies Mylo Insurance Solutions, LLC as a trade name in California, Illinois, Michigan and North Dakota, and Mylo Solutions, LLC as a trade name in New York. 1,3,18,19

Mylo also supplies an embedded insurance-shopping service to other companies and insurance agencies. A buyer entering through a partner should identify whether Mylo, the partner or another licensed entity is the producer for the transaction. 15,16

NEXT Insurance adopted the ERGO NEXT Insurance brand on January 15, 2026. Munich Re reports that it completed the full acquisition of Next Insurance in July 2025 and increased its ownership to 100%; ERGO is Munich Re’s primary-insurance business. 22,23

The ERGO NEXT terms group Next Insurance, Inc. with Next Insurance US Company, Next First Insurance Agency, Inc., Next Claims Management, Inc. and AP Intego Insurance Group, LLC. The terms describe ERGO NEXT as an agent representing insurance companies, while the license disclosure distinguishes agency subsidiaries from the affiliated insurer. 24,25

Access to insurers

Mylo says its commercial brokerage works with more than 40 carrier partners and names Travelers, Liberty Mutual, The Hartford and Hiscox as examples. That panel does not establish which insurers will consider or quote a particular business. 1,4

Mylo’s public pages do not provide a complete product-and-state schedule of issuing insurers. The carrier contact directory names companies used for some customers, but the legal insurer for each proposed policy must be confirmed in the quote and policy documents. 1,4,3

ERGO NEXT’s current terms list Next Insurance US Company, State National Insurance Company and National Specialty Insurance Company as carriers that might bind a customer. The listed agencies include Next Insurance, Inc., Next First Insurance Agency, AP Intego and third-party agency partners, so the issuing company must be checked on each quote and policy. 24,25

The Mississippi Insurance Department identifies Next Insurance US Company as a property-and-casualty insurer with NAIC number 16285 and lists authorized lines including liability, property, inland marine, surety and workers’ compensation in Mississippi. 26

A posted Texas restaurant general-liability specimen names State National Insurance Company, Inc. as the insurer and Next First Insurance Agency, Inc. as administrator. It is an illustrative 2024–2025 specimen, not evidence of the insurer or form a new applicant will receive. 47

Application process

A business buyer can answer questions about the company and industry online or work by phone with a licensed advisor. Mylo says its system recommends coverage and compares available quotes; some carrier and coverage combinations can be purchased online, but an agent finalizes the policy in most cases. 1,3

Mylo’s Terms of Use say a purchase may carry additional transaction terms, require accurate and complete application answers and is not guaranteed to result in an issued policy. The posted site terms were last updated in November 2018, so buyers should review the current terms presented with a quote. 3

The public quote flow starts with industry and state, then shows stages for coverage, application, quote and purchase. ERGO NEXT says supported policies can be quoted and bought online; licensed advisors are also available. 43,27,44

A complete application and carrier underwriting approval are required. The terms say a premium payment does not bind coverage until the carrier approves the application, and a payment is refunded if the carrier declines it. 24,28

Servicing and renewals

The reviewed public pages identify Mylo advisors, a service-professional fallback and a benefits HR portal, but do not establish one universal workflow for commercial policy changes, certificates, renewals or cancellations across carriers. 1,4,14

Policyholders can use the online account to access electronic policy documents, update supported policy and payment details, create certificates, add additional insureds and request cancellation. Some changes require staff handling; the account FAQ says revised documents can take seven to ten business days in those cases. 45,24,44

The help center advertises a 24/7 AI assistant and U.S.-based insurance experts on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time. The reviewed sources do not promise licensed human support around the clock. 44

A direct customer can request cancellation through the online account. ERGO NEXT says it stops future monthly payments and the account FAQ describes a prorated premium refund, but separately earned service or card fees are generally nonrefundable and the terms allow a cancellation fee where applicable. 45,24

Fees and compensation

Mylo says its guided shopping service is free and that 95% of customers do not pay Mylo a fee when purchasing. It generally earns a carrier commission; in fewer than 5% of transactions, it says it charges a fee when it handles billing and incurs higher administrative costs. The reviewed disclosure does not give the fee amount. 2

ERGO NEXT and its partners may receive commissions, fees or interest. The terms permit installment, service and cancellation fees separate from premium; Next First Insurance Agency may charge a nonrefundable service fee at binding and renewal and a nonrefundable card transaction fee, while payment by bank account can avoid the card fee. The reviewed terms do not publish the amounts. 24

Policies are annual even when premium is paid monthly. The terms say monthly payments carry no interest, finance fee or late-payment fee, but the stored payment method may be charged at renewal, missed payments can lead to a cancellation request, and a deposit premium can be adjusted after a premium audit when business details change. 24
