HUB International vs
WithCoverage
How HUB International’s commission-led brokerage differs from WithCoverage’s named risk-manager and fee-model audit that can start while you keep your current broker.
Introduction
HUB International and WithCoverage both can review a technology company’s insurance, but WithCoverage’s published first step is an audit that can run while you keep your current broker. HUB’s published first step is appointing a HUB advisor or going to Insureon. The buyer question is whether you want a second opinion without an immediate broker-of-record change, or you are ready to move the account to HUB. 39 46 8
Where Each Provider Shines
Where HUB International Shines
- HUB’s technology practice markets insurance and benefits programs to startups and software, hardware and digital-media companies, and says it currently insures more than 5,000 technology companies. 10
- HUB routes qualifying small commercial accounts to Insureon’s online quote and other business insurance to a HUB advisor or local office; there is no published self-serve bind path for mid-market programs on hubinternational.com. 8,11,12,13,10,6

Key Differences Between HUB International and WithCoverage
Fee Conversation Versus Commission Essay
WithCoverage describes a fee model for its advisory work, with other charges and savings language that it qualifies rather than treating as a guaranteed reduction. 39 41 HUB’s How We Get Paid page says compensation is primarily insurer commissions included in premium, plus contingents, possible client fees and Strategic Carrier incentives, without a public percentage schedule. 7
WithCoverage’s savings-scope disclosures warn that published savings language is not a guaranteed reduction. HUB’s Strategic Carrier incentives can affect which markets appear first. Ask both for a written compensation exhibit on the same program. 41 7
Named Risk Manager Versus Practice Teams
WithCoverage describes a named risk manager for renewals, certificates and questions. HUB describes ProEx specialists, local certificate staff and optional RMIS. Continuity depends on the person or pod you are assigned, which neither homepage guarantees. 49 16
Starting Without Moving the Account
WithCoverage can begin with a policy audit while you retain your existing broker. 39 46 HUB’s materials do not describe an equivalent “keep your broker” audit product. Transferring to HUB is a broker-of-record event. 5 8
Claims
Both document claims assistance as brokers. WithCoverage’s legal-service-boundary disclosure limits what the advisor may do. HUB’s claims page is advocacy, not adjusting. 41 32

HUB International vs WithCoverage: documented services and availability

|---|---|---|
| Business role | HUB International Limited describes itself as a full-service insurance broker and financial-services firm. Its website terms say HUB’s subsidiaries are licensed as insurance brokers or agents in various U.S. states and Canadian provinces. The reviewed product pages market brokerage of policies issued by insurers, not HUB as a risk-bearing carrier for those policies. 4,5,9 HUB’s About Us timeline states that in 2022 it acquired Insureon for digital delivery of small-business commercial insurance. Insureon and TechInsurance say they are part of HUB; Insureon says it operates as a division of Specialty Program Group LLC, doing business as SPG Insurance Solutions. TechInsurance describes itself as part of Insureon rather than as a separate HUB retail office. 4,34,35,36,37 | WithCoverage combines commercial insurance brokerage, a risk-management team and software for growing businesses. You can have existing policies reviewed, compare insurance options and manage the program with its team. 39,40,47 The terms name With Coverage Inc. and With Coverage Insurance Services LLC. The latter also appears in a Mississippi corporate filing under insurance agencies and brokerages. These identify the business entities; the terms assign policy obligations to the issuing insurer. 41,52 |
| Application process | On hubinternational.com, commercial buyers are asked to contact a broker, connect with a specialist, or use Contact Us. Small-commercial inquiries meeting HUB’s stated size tests go to Insureon for an online quote. Product pages such as general liability, D&O, cyber and workers’ compensation use “Contact Us” or “Connect With a Broker” rather than an on-site bind flow. Privacy policy language refers to automation for insurance quoting, without documenting a public HUB retail e-commerce checkout for mid-market programs. 8,11,12,13,10,6 | WithCoverage offers an initial policy audit without requiring you to leave your broker. It says the review compares existing coverage, limits and premiums with market benchmarks. Its technology FAQ puts the assessment at usually one business day after receiving policy documents, with longer timing for multiple entities or locations. 42 The public review form starts with contact details and then asks about the company, industry and annual insurance spending. It requests a conversation about your program; it does not display an insurance price. 42 The portfolio page describes appointing WithCoverage on existing policies by signing a broker-of-record letter. This changes your broker, not the policy itself. The page says the transfer has no additional charge. 48 For its portfolio offering, WithCoverage describes a digital application transferred into insurers’ applications and an advisor-prepared comparison of options. 48 At the time of research, the page linked as Privacy Policy displayed the terms-of-service text rather than a separate detailed privacy notice. Before sharing policy or claims files, request the applicable privacy notice and document-retention terms. 53 |
| Fees and compensation | HUB’s How We Get Paid page says it is compensated primarily through insurer-paid commissions included in premium, and also through contingent income, guaranteed supplemental commissions, and, on some complex programs, client-paid fees disclosed in a proposal, sometimes in addition to commission. It owns wholesale brokerages that may earn a second commission when HUB retail uses them. It may receive fees for de-identified data under insurer consulting agreements, premium-finance administration, interest on fiduciary accounts, and policy or claims administration. Strategic Carriers may pay enhanced compensation, part of which may incentivize employees to prioritize those markets. No schedule of commission percentages or standard fees is published. 7 | WithCoverage says it typically agrees a flat fee before work begins, so compensation does not rise with the premium. Its consumer FAQ also allows commission-based arrangements. The public pages do not give a standard fee amount. 43 The terms allow premiums, commissions, installment, service, cancellation and flat fees disclosed with the service. A flat advisory fee therefore should not be read as an all-inclusive insurance price. 41 The solution page advertises average savings of 20–40% for clients spending over $1 million annually on insurance and risk-management services. It does not provide the sample size, measurement period or calculation needed to establish a comparable result for your business. 46 Industry pages show the same 20–40% figure as annual policy savings without repeating the solution page’s spending threshold. The broader presentation does not establish savings for smaller accounts. 46,42,43 |
| Servicing and renewals | HUB describes ongoing servicing through local account teams (ProEx notes local policy review and certificates of insurance), a Risk Management Information System for claims administration, certificate tracking and carrier/TPA data, and employee-benefits work that includes multi-year cost planning and renewal support. RMIS is described as available in various tiers. None of those pages publish a standard service-level agreement or fee for those tools. 16,33,30 | WithCoverage describes a named risk manager backed by attorneys and claims specialists, handling renewals, certificates of insurance and account questions. Its platform brings policies, claims, certificates, exposures and renewal communications together. 45,39 The portfolio page says WithCoverage is not a law firm and does not provide legal services. Confirm what its attorneys’ involvement includes. 48 The portfolio page promises no fee to end its broker-of-record appointment and data return on request. Confirm the service agreement and separate policy cancellation charges. 48,41 Its advisor recruitment materials describe contract changes and larger deductibles as possible strategies. Ask which risks the proposal leaves with your business. 49 |
| Claims assistance | HUB markets a claims-management practice that it says includes dedicated claims professionals, advocacy, coverage-dispute support, TPA selection and audits, reserve analysis and litigation-management support. It states the team has more than 225 claims professionals in the United States and Canada. The page also publishes numerical process claims such as 24-hour turnaround on claims reporting; those figures are company-reported marketing metrics, not independently verified outcomes, and they do not describe how a particular insurer will adjust a claim. 32 | WithCoverage says its claims team, including attorneys, manages the claims process and recommends changes to reduce future exposure. That assistance is separate from the issuing insurer’s policy obligations and does not establish claims-payment speed or outcomes. 46,41 |
