Coverdash vs Harper

Coverdash’s online brokerage and Harper’s specialist placement process differ for businesses whose operations and service needs are changing.

Introduction

Coverdash is an insurance brokerage with online quote comparison, purchasing and policy management, available directly or inside a partner’s platform. Harper is a commercial brokerage whose specialists use AI-assisted submissions and follow-ups to seek insurance for businesses, including difficult commercial risks. Both arrange coverage from other companies. A business change can require different placement work, and different people handling the resulting account. 8 2 40 30

Key Differences Between Coverdash and Harper

Changed Operations and Policy Wording

A security business adding armed patrols to an existing event-security operation can use Harper’s marketing to armed guards, event security and mobile patrols, which also discusses professional negligence as well as equipment and vehicles. That gives the owner a specific starting point for explaining the changed work. It does not establish that a proposed policy covers every guard activity. Ask the specialist to identify the actual duties, use-of-force provisions and vehicle exposures in the submission and proposed wording. 38

Coverdash’s broad catalogue includes professional liability, commercial auto, workers’ compensation and equipment-related products. Its value in the same situation is a way to assemble and manage several kinds of insurance; the catalogue alone does not establish an armed-security placement. Send the same operations description to its advisor and ask which insurer will consider the full operation, rather than choosing separate product labels and assuming they fit together. 3 8

For an expanding workforce, Harper also describes help with payroll classifications and premium-audit preparation. An owner adding patrol drivers should ask how the changed duties enter that process. Coverdash asks for employee information when quoting and supports coverage-change requests through the account; ask its team what additional payroll records the proposed insurer needs. These are concrete service questions, not evidence that either brokerage prevents audit adjustments. 37 4

Broker Appointment and Placement Routes

A Coverdash experience embedded in another company’s software still assigns the insurance service to Coverdash. Its terms appoint it broker or agent of record for the brokerage services and include exclusivity unless otherwise agreed. An owner arriving through a business platform should therefore identify which existing policies, if any, that appointment would affect. The host platform’s branding does not make it the insurer. 2

Harper has two distinct routes involving other agents. Its referral program assigns the account and ongoing service to Harper; its wholesale offering separately describes access that can sit behind another brokerage’s branding. If an existing agent brings Harper into a difficult placement, ask which route applies. Keeping the same familiar agent as the contact and transferring servicing to Harper are different arrangements, even if both lead to a Harper-assisted quote. 42 41

Harper’s wholesale page claims binding authority on selected programs, meaning authority to commit coverage within an agreed scope. Coverdash’s terms say it does not underwrite. Neither statement identifies the insurer or the authority for this security business. Request the proposed issuing entity and placement route; comparing Coverdash’s carrier count with Harper’s underwriter count would not establish how many insurers actually considered the risk. 41 40 2 8

Certificates, Endorsements and Binding Dates

Coverdash documents self-service certificates, selection of several policies and an agent-assisted route. Harper’s security page advertises same-day certificates for most clients. These are useful administrative offerings, but a certificate is only useful for a new contract if the required protection exists: Coverdash’s terms explicitly say a certificate does not itself confer additional-insured status. Give either team the client’s wording and ask whether an endorsement—a document changing the policy—is needed before requesting proof. 13 2 38

Separate that document deadline from the coverage start date. Coverdash’s terms allow payment before binding and possible insurer rejection or repricing. Harper prohibits binding or changing coverage by text. An online payment or a reassuring text exchange is therefore insufficient to schedule the new patrol work: obtain the applicable written binding confirmation and effective date. 2 29

Fees, Renewals and Claims Contacts

Coverdash discloses a Technology Access Fee on each purchased policy, in addition to policy charges, and calls it fully earned and nonrefundable. The disclosure does not give its amount. 5

Harper’s published referral commission split concerns payments between agencies; it is not a customer discount or a buyer-fee schedule. For a proposal with several policies, request Coverdash’s fee for each policy and Harper’s actual customer charges, alongside premium, taxes and financing. Neither a free quote nor a free partner enrollment establishes the total purchase cost. 5 42

For policies whose billing and premium payment it facilitates, Coverdash’s renewal authorization permits automatic renewal with a premium increase of up to 20% if no material coverage terms change. Larger increases or material changes require renewed consent. 6

The threshold gives permission to renew; it is not a cap on the insurer’s price. Harper describes annual coverage reviews. Ask when the new patrol work will be reviewed, who will obtain updated payroll and loss records, and whether the owner must approve the renewal before it binds. Neither service description guarantees an insurer will renew or keep the same price. 6 44

For a claim, Coverdash documents starting through the account or support team, while Harper describes help with documentation and carrier communication. Those functions do not establish comparative claims quality. Agree on the insurer’s notice instructions and an urgent contact; Harper specifically warns against relying on texts for emergencies. 4 44 29

What to Confirm in Quotes

  • A placement response to the changed operations: request the proposed insurer’s treatment of armed work, patrol vehicles and professional negligence, using one written operations description for both brokers. 38 3
  • A service and agency assignment: identify Coverdash’s appointment scope or Harper’s referral-versus-wholesale arrangement, including who answers the next certificate and renewal request. 2 42 41
  • The contract evidence and binding confirmation: obtain any required endorsement, the certificate, and the effective date as distinct documents. 2 29
  • An itemized proposal and renewal timetable: include per-policy fees, financing, payroll-audit responsibilities and the point at which renewal needs approval. 5 6 37 42

Service Comparison

Coverdash vs Harper: documented services and availability

CriteriaCoverdashHarper
Business role

Coverdash’s terms name Coverdash, Inc. and Coverdash Insurance Services, LLC; the LLC provides the insurance brokerage service. It arranges coverage with insurance companies and says it does not underwrite policies. 2

The reviewed corporate pages identify Coverdash, Inc. and Coverdash Insurance Services, LLC but do not establish their precise ownership relationship or a current controlling parent. 2,8

A partner can put Coverdash’s quote and policy-management experience inside its own website or software. Coverdash’s terms assign insurance solicitation and service to Coverdash rather than the host platform. 9,2

Harper is a commercial insurance brokerage: it helps businesses find insurance from other companies and arrange the purchase. You can request a quote online or speak with a specialist, who gathers information, approaches insurers and explains the options. 29,36

Harper’s text-messaging terms identify the brokerage as Harper Global Enterprises Inc., doing business as Harper Global Insurance Agency. Its privacy policy instead names Harper Group Corp. The reviewed disclosures do not explain the corporate relationship between those names. 29,30

Harper separately markets wholesale access for other brokers, including specialty and non-admitted insurers. That page claims binding authority on selected programs but does not identify the delegating insurers, products, states or authority limits. It is not evidence that Harper itself bears the insured risk. 41

Application process

Coverdash’s public application begins with an email-address field. Its FAQ says to have your business name, address, industry, annual revenue and employee count ready; it describes online quote comparison and purchasing, with same-day coverage for most policies. 10,4

The FAQ says payment follows choosing and binding a policy, but the terms allow collecting payment before binding and later insurer rejection or repricing. Confirm the effective date and binding confirmation before relying on coverage. 4,2

Using the brokerage service means appointing Coverdash as broker or agent of record and working exclusively with it for those services unless otherwise agreed. 2

The public quote form asks for your contact and business details, state, estimated annual revenue, business activity and requested coverage. It includes an existing-customer checkbox and a text-message consent choice. The visible form starts an inquiry; it does not display a final premium or issued policy. 28

The founders describe Harper Hub as internal software that helps complete forms, identify carriers and underwriters, and manage client communications. Their Y Combinator launch describes full autonomy as a direction for the business. 33

Harper’s privacy policy says AI extracts document information, drafts messages for review, organizes follow-ups and assists staff. It says licensed professionals and carriers review final decisions, including eligibility and binding. AI marketing therefore does not establish that a machine can approve your coverage on its own. 30

The privacy policy describes collecting applications, loss records and business documents. It also says customer communications and policy information train Harper’s own models, while its enterprise AI vendors state they do not train their foundation models on customer data. These are different uses of your information. 30

Harper’s messaging terms say a text cannot bind, change, renew or cancel insurance. Coverage takes effect only with written confirmation from Harper and the applicable carrier; quotes sent by text remain subject to underwriting and final documentation. 29

Harper’s February 2026 announcement advertises coverage within 24–48 hours. That is a company timing claim, not a deadline established for your application. Ask what information and approvals are still outstanding before arranging work around a proposed start date. 40

Fees and compensation

Coverdash discloses a Technology Access Fee on each purchased policy, in addition to policy charges, and calls it fully earned and nonrefundable. The disclosure does not give its amount. 5

Coverdash may receive insurer or payment-servicer commissions, performance-related contingent or supplemental commissions, and negotiated client fees. It also discloses affinity-referral and administrative-service income. 5

Coverdash’s help center identifies Ascend as its payment and premium-finance partner. It explains that financing pays the annual premium upfront while the customer repays in installments. Confirm the current lender, interest and fees in the payment agreement. 12,6

Harper Partners advertises a payment of 50% of Harper’s commission to an appropriately licensed referring agent, paid 60 days after the account settles. It says the underlying commission varies by coverage line, premium and carrier. The percentage is a share of commission, not a discount on the buyer’s premium. 42

The reviewed Harper pages do not disclose a buyer-facing schedule of brokerage fees or account-specific commission rates. Its statement that partner agents can join for free does not establish that buying insurance through Harper carries no fees. Request an itemized total, including premium, taxes, fees and any financing charges. 42,44,36,29

Servicing and renewals

The public sign-in page describes resuming applications, reviewing policies and billing requests, downloading certificates and contacting an account manager. Coverdash’s FAQ directs customers through their account to request coverage changes or cancellation. 11,4

Coverdash’s certificate guide describes self-service PDF certificates, selection of multiple policies and an e-commerce marketplace template. It says requests for agent assistance can take up to two business days. 13

For policies whose billing and premium payment it facilitates, Coverdash’s renewal authorization permits automatic renewal with a premium increase of up to 20% if no material coverage terms change. Larger increases or material changes require renewed consent. 6

The authorization permits necessary renewal paperwork, including a new premium-finance agreement. Customers can opt out or request cancellation through the dashboard, with processing time; the insurer still decides whether to renew. 6

For workers’ compensation, Harper says it helps classify payroll by the work employees perform and prepares information for premium audits. Its cost FAQ identifies payroll, job categories and claims history as pricing factors. An audit can reconcile the information used to price the policy; Harper’s service description is not a promise that your premium cannot change. 37,45

Under that referral program, Harper says it owns the account and handles quoting, placement, servicing, renewals and claims; the referring agent has no servicing duties. Its separate wholesale page offers white-label options. If another agent introduces you, clarify which arrangement applies and who will be your ongoing contact. 42,41

Harper’s public portal entry page advertises access to certificates, policies, payments and application status. Sign-in uses the email address associated with a Harper invitation; the page directs customers without an invitation to its service team. Features behind sign-in were not tested. 43

Harper describes ongoing policy management and annual coverage reviews. Its messaging terms list reminders about renewals, billing and premium finance, along with communications about changes and certificates. These service descriptions do not specify a guaranteed renewal price or a commitment to re-shop every policy. 44,29

Access to insurers

Coverdash advertises access to more than 40 carriers and displays names including Chubb, Travelers, Hiscox and Nationwide. It does not promise that every applicant will receive quotes from that entire panel. 1,8

Nationwide’s own agency directory lists Coverdash Insurance Services and links to coverdash.com, independently supporting that carrier relationship. The listing does not identify the insurer or terms for a particular Coverdash quote. 15

Harper’s homepage displays insurers including Progressive, Kinsale, USLI, Atlantic Casualty, James River, GEICO, AIG and Hiscox. Its February 2026 announcement reports relationships with more than 165 underwriters and plans for more direct appointments. An underwriter count is not a count of distinct insurers that will quote your account. 28,40

An older Harper article says it uses only AAA-rated carriers, without specifying the rating agency, legal insurers or dated rating records. That does not establish a financial-strength rating for the insurer on your quote. Request that insurer’s exact name and current rating evidence. 44
