Coalition vs
Kinro
Compare Kinro’s policy-review and renewal-shopping service with Coalition’s broker-distributed cyber and Tech E&O.
Introduction
Uploading a renewal packet can start a search, but it does not yet identify a replacement insurer. Kinro offers an existing-policy review and says it shops at renewal. Coalition is a broker-accessed cyber and technology E&O product route. Compare a review’s scope with the specific replacement contract it eventually produces. 22 19 13 1

Key Differences Between Coalition and Kinro
Confirm the Agency Engagement Before Sending the Full File
Kinro’s public pages use several names: the footer names Kinro Insurance Services LLC, text-message disclosures name Kinro, Inc., and the Terms of Service name Kinro AI. Those terms describe selling AI sales-agent technology to financial-services companies under commercial orders. They do not clearly explain how those names or contracts relate to an insurance buyer’s agency agreement. 24,23
Kinro’s current retail agreement therefore needs clarification; the AI sales-technology terms should not be treated as the insurance buyer’s complete engagement contract. Coalition separately identifies CIS as its insurance producer and distinguishes security-service entities. Ask who receives your documents, who advises you and whose terms govern each service. 2
A Comparison Should Preserve the Insured Work
Kinro’s professional-liability guidance asks about services, clients, contracts and prior coverage; its cyber guidance asks separately about security controls and data. Coalition explicitly markets combined technology E&O and cyber. That difference in public descriptions does not prove Kinro cannot arrange technology coverage. It means a software company should require the proposed form to cover its actual work instead of accepting a generic E&O label. 32 33 1
Renewal Shopping and Security Monitoring Solve Separate Problems
Kinro describes market shopping and document updates; Coalition describes risk monitoring and account-dependent cyber renewal paths. A renewal review should explain which markets were approached and why a replacement preserves or changes terms. Security-service access should be compared separately, including activation requirements and any extra charges. 19 23 8 15
What to Confirm in Quotes
Request the retail agency agreement, current California producer authority, proposed insurer and complete form. Compare continuity dates and insured-service wording against the expiring policy, and obtain a dedicated claims contact: Kinro’s reviewed material did not establish the reporting procedure or adjuster. A review or carrier-logo panel does not settle those questions. 23 27 28 11
Service Comparison
Coalition vs Kinro: documented services and availability
| Criteria | Coalition | Kinro |
|---|---|---|
| Business role | Coalition combines commercial insurance offerings with cyber risk-management services. In the United States, Coalition Insurance Solutions, Inc. (CIS) is the disclosed insurance producer and surplus lines broker; the issuing insurer is responsible for policy obligations. 2,7 Coalition lists CIS’s California producer and surplus lines license as 0L76155. This is a company disclosure; current license status has not been independently checked with the California regulator. 2 Coalition’s legal page identifies Coalition Incident Response, Inc., doing business as Coalition Security, or independent third parties as security-service providers. Coalition Security does not provide insurance. 2 | Kinro’s website identifies Kinro Insurance Services LLC and displays National Producer Number (NPN) 22233799. It describes the business as a commercial insurance brokerage: the intermediary helping arrange coverage. The insurer issuing your policy is a separate role. 23,28 Kinro’s public pages use several names: the footer names Kinro Insurance Services LLC, text-message disclosures name Kinro, Inc., and the Terms of Service name Kinro AI. Those terms describe selling AI sales-agent technology to financial-services companies under commercial orders. They do not clearly explain how those names or contracts relate to an insurance buyer’s agency agreement. 24,23 Kinro also offers market access and technology to independent agencies and agents. Its partner page says they retain the customer relationship, subject to their written agreement. Its separate commercial-placement service asks the parties to allocate advice, binding, billing, endorsements, certificates, renewals, and communication before placing business. 26,27 |
| Application process | Coalition directs buyers to an appointed insurance broker and offers help finding access if their broker does not offer Coalition. It describes underwriting that considers industry, finances, operations and security posture. 13 Coalition’s broker instructions describe adding Tech E&O during the cyber quote process, supplying a product or service description and answering contract-related questions. Some quotes require review before a price is released. 12 | Kinro’s public “Start a new quote” page opens without a login and begins with a business-activity selector, labeled step 1 of 4. Later application steps, quote results, payment, and binding were not inspected. 20 Kinro says AI helps collect information and present available quote options, with licensed-agent support. Its homepage describes agent follow-up after submission and advertises a roughly two-minute reply. That is a response-time claim, not a verified deadline for receiving or binding insurance. 19 Kinro offers a free review starting with an upload of a declarations page, renewal packet, or policy. It accepts up to three PDF, PNG, or JPG files, each up to 25 MB. Its promise to seek a better price with equivalent or higher coverage is a company claim; no replacement quote or coverage comparison was tested. 22 |
| Access to insurers | Coalition identifies Coalition Insurance Company (NAIC 29530) for admitted cyber and describes CIS as acting for unaffiliated insurers on non-admitted placements. The reviewed sources do not assign a single insurer to every California Tech E&O quote; confirm the named carrier on the quote and policy. 3,2 | Kinro says it works with more than 50 companies and displays brands including Progressive, GEICO, AmTrust, Pie, Coterie, and NEXT. Its carrier-partner page makes access and binding authority conditional on approvals. The logos do not identify the legal insurer that would issue a particular buyer’s policy. 19,28 |
| Servicing and renewals | Coalition describes Control policyholder features at no additional cost, including attack-surface monitoring, vendor-risk monitoring, vulnerability alerts and guidance. Login Security requires connecting a Microsoft or Google environment. Additional security products are promoted separately. 8 Coalition says cyber renewals begin 90 days before expiration and follow Automatic, Express or Standard paths based on the account. Express renewals require responses; Standard renewals require a bind order and updated signed application, with additional underwriting conditions for some accounts. Automatic renewal does not guarantee an unchanged premium. 15 | Kinro says it shops the market at renewal. Its text-update service describes links to policy documents and certificates, renewal reminders, and replies to coverage questions. These are published service descriptions, not measured turnaround times. 19,23 Kinro’s text sign-up separates service-message consent from optional marketing consent and offers STOP to unsubscribe. Its privacy policy separately discloses visitor-identification partners that may connect browsing activity with email addresses or online profiles for marketing. The mobile opt-in protections should not be read as a blanket promise that website visits cannot lead to marketing. 23,25 |
