At-Bay vs
Mylo
Compare Mylo’s small-business brokerage and employee-benefits offering with At-Bay’s specialist cyber and technology insurance.
Introduction
Hiring the first employees can put benefits, workplace insurance and customer-required technology coverage on one finance checklist. Mylo advertises group benefits for employers with 2–99 employees as well as business insurance. At-Bay’s specialist catalogue addresses cyber and professional liabilities. These are different parts of that checklist, even if a founder wants one coordinated buying process. 27 14 1

Key Differences Between at-Bay and Mylo
Employer Benefits Do Not Broaden a Technology Policy
Mylo’s benefits offering creates a separate employer-service discussion. Its professional liability and cyber catalogue still needs to be tested against the company’s software activities. At-Bay explicitly combines technology E&O and cyber in its technology product. Do not assume that consolidating applications means identical professional coverage or one issuing insurer. 27 23 21 2
Agent Placement and Carrier Service Are Separate Steps
Mylo describes insurer selection with agents finalizing many purchases and directs customers to carriers for specified service and claims tasks. At-Bay’s published platform is for brokers, while its cyber claims materials describe incident coordination. Ask who remains accountable after purchase, particularly when benefits and business policies have different contacts. 14 17 6 8
Historic Ownership Is Not Current Market Access
Mylo’s Lockton origins do not establish current Lockton ownership or access to its services. The reviewed public documentation distinguishes that history from later Group 1001 backing. Neither corporate connection identifies the insurer that will issue a particular Mylo quote. 15 29 30
What to Confirm in Quotes
Split the proposal into employee benefits, workplace coverage and technology liability. Confirm California availability, named insurers, enrollment and claims contacts, and the combined annual cost. Mylo’s statement that most customers pay no fee has exceptions; obtain the applicable disclosure rather than treating it as a zero-fee commitment. 15
Service Comparison
At-Bay vs Mylo Insurance: documented services and availability
| Criteria | At-Bay | Mylo |
|---|---|---|
| Business role | At-Bay offers cyber, technology errors and omissions (Tech E&O), and miscellaneous professional liability insurance. Its disclosed producer, At-Bay Insurance Services LLC, is a property and casualty agency and surplus lines broker; its website says coverage is underwritten by non-admitted insurers. 1,5 | Mylo describes itself as an independent insurance broker for small and growing businesses. It recommends coverage and compares available quotes from multiple insurers rather than issuing its own policies. 14,15 Mylo says it launched within Lockton Companies in 2015 and now has Group 1001 as its backer. A May 2023 Kansas City Business Journal report said Group 1001 became the majority investor and Mylo was no longer part of Lockton; the reviewed sources did not provide a newer ownership percentage. 15,29,30 Mylo, LLC operates the website and is the named insurance agency. Its footer identifies Mylo Insurance Solutions, LLC as a trade name in California, Illinois, Michigan and North Dakota, and Mylo Solutions, LLC as a trade name in New York. 14,16,31,32 Mylo also supplies an embedded insurance-shopping service to other companies and insurance agencies. A buyer entering through a partner should identify whether Mylo, the partner or another licensed entity is the producer for the transaction. 28,29 |
| Access to insurers | At-Bay announced in August 2023 that eligible new E&S Cyber and Tech E&O business would be quoted on At-Bay Specialty Insurance Company paper. That historical announcement does not identify the insurer on a current California quote or establish the issuer for MPL. 11 The current MPL product page does not name its issuing insurer. A September 2023 announcement names United Specialty Company for MPL, but that historical reference is insufficient to establish the current contracting insurer or California placement. 4,13 | Mylo says its commercial brokerage works with more than 40 carrier partners and names Travelers, Liberty Mutual, The Hartford and Hiscox as examples. That panel does not establish which insurers will consider or quote a particular business. 14,17 Mylo’s public pages do not provide a complete product-and-state schedule of issuing insurers. The carrier contact directory names companies used for some customers, but the legal insurer for each proposed policy must be confirmed in the quote and policy documents. 14,17,16 |
| Application process | At-Bay describes a broker workflow of completing an application, adjusting limits and retentions, reviewing documents, selecting an effective date, and satisfying contingencies and signature requirements before binding. Brokers can also email submissions to underwriting. An online quote is not itself bound coverage. 6,4 | A business buyer can answer questions about the company and industry online or work by phone with a licensed advisor. Mylo says its system recommends coverage and compares available quotes; some carrier and coverage combinations can be purchased online, but an agent finalizes the policy in most cases. 14,16 Mylo’s Terms of Use say a purchase may carry additional transaction terms, require accurate and complete application answers and is not guaranteed to result in an issued policy. The posted site terms were last updated in November 2018, so buyers should review the current terms presented with a quote. 16 |
| Claims assistance | At-Bay describes an in-house claims team that coordinates with a breach coach and response partners after a cyber incident. Its claims page provides incident reporting routes, and Response & Recovery is integrated with the claims process. This establishes a described support process, not claims payment or service quality. 8,9 | Mylo publishes carrier-specific support and claims contacts and directs customers to the insurer for many service needs. If a carrier is not listed, the page gives a Mylo Service Professional number; it does not promise that Mylo decides or pays claims. 17 |
