Armilla vs
Harper
Separate insurance for AI failures from an AI-assisted brokerage serving complex operating businesses.
Introduction
For a manufacturer or service company introducing AI, the word “AI” can describe either the exposure being insured or the broker’s own workflow. Armilla markets protection and assessments for AI systems. Harper uses AI to assist commercial brokerage work, with licensed professionals and carriers reviewing final decisions. The two propositions should not be confused when deciding how to insure an operating business. 6 11

Key Differences Between Armilla and Harper
Keep the Operating Business in the Submission
Harper emphasizes difficult-to-place operations, with advertised customers including manufacturing, contractors and care providers. Its broader catalogue covers conventional commercial risks. Armilla’s sample AI scopes address model errors, output harms and agent actions. A business integrating AI into physical operations should present both its ordinary activities and the model’s role, rather than assuming an AI liability label replaces the operating-company program. 16 15 3
This is potentially complementary work. The records do not establish that Harper places Armilla products or that either has accepted the particular operation; ask the broker to identify the available specialist route. 17 6
Brokerage Automation Is Not Model Validation
Harper’s privacy notice describes extracting information, drafting messages and organizing follow-ups, with review controls. Armilla describes testing model performance, fairness and security, followed by remediation support. A faster submission process and an assessment of the startup’s model are different deliverables. Specify whether the work you need is administrative, technical, or both. 11 5
Harper also describes workers’ compensation payroll classification and audit preparation. That is particularly relevant when the AI deployment accompanies new staff or changes in job duties, but it says nothing about whether the AI system meets its promised benchmarks. 18 4
Resolve the Human Handoff Before an Incident
Harper’s public entity disclosures use different company names without explaining their relationship, and its reviewed service pages do not establish a dedicated claim-notification procedure. Armilla’s coordination description likewise leaves the administrator and complete notice process unresolved. Identify the actual producer and insurer on each document and assign the reporting contacts before relying on general support promises. 10 11 25 2
What to Confirm in Quotes
- Describe the physical operation, employee duties and AI decision authority in the same submission, and ask which policy addresses each exposure. 18 3
- Obtain the legal producer, current California authority and issuing insurer; neither agency marketing nor a model assessment establishes eligibility. 9 1
- Agree on model-assessment deliverables and incident notice routes, including who handles an event involving both operating activities and AI output. 5 10
Service Comparison
Armilla vs Harper: documented services and availability
| Criteria | Armilla | Harper |
|---|---|---|
| Business role | Armilla markets AI liability insurance, performance warranties and model assessments. It describes its insurance operation as a managing general agent (MGA), an intermediary with underwriting responsibilities, and names Armilla Insurance Services as a Lloyd’s coverholder. These descriptions do not make Armilla the risk-bearing insurer. 3,1,6 Florida’s corporate registry lists Armilla Insurance Services Inc., a Delaware corporation. This establishes a corporate identity, not an insurance license or authority to place a California risk. 8 | Harper is a commercial insurance brokerage: it helps businesses find insurance from other companies and arrange the purchase. You can request a quote online or speak with a specialist, who gathers information, approaches insurers and explains the options. 10,17 Harper’s text-messaging terms identify the brokerage as Harper Global Enterprises Inc., doing business as Harper Global Insurance Agency. Its privacy policy instead names Harper Group Corp. The reviewed disclosures do not explain the corporate relationship between those names. 10,11 Harper separately markets wholesale access for other brokers, including specialty and non-admitted insurers. That page claims binding authority on selected programs but does not identify the delegating insurers, products, states or authority limits. It is not evidence that Harper itself bears the insured risk. 22 |
| Application process | Armilla’s insurance FAQ says to begin with an AI risk assessment, followed by a tailored insurance or warranty plan. The site directs buyers to contact its team; coverage requires written confirmation and completion of underwriting requirements. 2,1 | The public quote form asks for your contact and business details, state, estimated annual revenue, business activity and requested coverage. It includes an existing-customer checkbox and a text-message consent choice. The visible form starts an inquiry; it does not display a final premium or issued policy. 9 The founders describe Harper Hub as internal software that helps complete forms, identify carriers and underwriters, and manage client communications. Their Y Combinator launch describes full autonomy as a direction for the business. 14 Harper’s privacy policy says AI extracts document information, drafts messages for review, organizes follow-ups and assists staff. It says licensed professionals and carriers review final decisions, including eligibility and binding. AI marketing therefore does not establish that a machine can approve your coverage on its own. 11 The privacy policy describes collecting applications, loss records and business documents. It also says customer communications and policy information train Harper’s own models, while its enterprise AI vendors state they do not train their foundation models on customer data. These are different uses of your information. 11 Harper’s messaging terms say a text cannot bind, change, renew or cancel insurance. Coverage takes effect only with written confirmation from Harper and the applicable carrier; quotes sent by text remain subject to underwriting and final documentation. 10 Harper’s February 2026 announcement advertises coverage within 24–48 hours. That is a company timing claim, not a deadline established for your application. Ask what information and approvals are still outstanding before arranging work around a proposed start date. 21 |
| Servicing and renewals | Armilla Verified evaluates model performance, fairness, security and robustness. Armilla describes scoping, testing, remediation support and an internal report, with a badge conditional on meeting benchmarks. Optional monitoring and retesting are offered as models change. 5 The reviewed assessment and insurance pages do not disclose insurance renewal procedures or whether ongoing model monitoring is included in the premium. Optional assessment support should be priced and scoped separately in the proposal. 5,2 | For workers’ compensation, Harper says it helps classify payroll by the work employees perform and prepares information for premium audits. Its cost FAQ identifies payroll, job categories and claims history as pricing factors. An audit can reconcile the information used to price the policy; Harper’s service description is not a promise that your premium cannot change. 18,26 Under that referral program, Harper says it owns the account and handles quoting, placement, servicing, renewals and claims; the referring agent has no servicing duties. Its separate wholesale page offers white-label options. If another agent introduces you, clarify which arrangement applies and who will be your ongoing contact. 23,22 Harper’s public portal entry page advertises access to certificates, policies, payments and application status. Sign-in uses the email address associated with a Harper invitation; the page directs customers without an invitation to its service team. Features behind sign-in were not tested. 24 Harper describes ongoing policy management and annual coverage reviews. Its messaging terms list reminders about renewals, billing and premium finance, along with communications about changes and certificates. These service descriptions do not specify a guaranteed renewal price or a commitment to re-shop every policy. 25,10 |
| Claims assistance | Armilla describes liability claims reported during the policy period, subject to limits and exclusions. Its homepage offers incident coordination, but the reviewed pages do not name a claims administrator or set out a complete claim-notification procedure. No claims-handling quality has been established. 2,1 | Harper says its team assists with claims documentation and communication, and advocates with the carrier. This describes brokerage assistance. The insurer named in the policy remains the company responsible for covered losses; claims support is not a promise that a claim will be paid. 25,26 A dedicated claims-reporting procedure, after-hours response commitment and policy-specific notice address were not established in the reviewed Harper sources. Obtain those instructions with your policy. Harper’s messaging terms warn against relying on texts for urgent matters. 25,24,10 |
