Evidence and Scope
Role: Managing general agent. Scope: Armilla Insurance Services Inc. as a company-named Lloyd's coverholder and AI insurance intermediary in North America, assessed against two named programmes and no others. For the AI Liability Insurance programme, also marketed as Armilla Insured, capacity is assessed as Armilla discloses it: a binding authority led by Chaucer and written by certain underwriters at Lloyd's, available to US insureds, offered through surplus lines insurers. For Armilla Guaranteed, a contractual performance warranty rather than insurance, no issuer is named and no capacity is assessed. The four reinsurers Armilla names on its broker page are attached to no programme and are not assessed as capacity for either. Financial resilience is scoped to Armilla's ability to sustain its own operations; the risk sits with the Lloyd's underwriters, whose capital is not Armilla's and is out of scope.
Legal Identity
Armilla's insurance page names Armilla Insurance Services as a Lloyd's coverholder. The company-named intermediary and the underwriting underwriters are separate roles; a Florida corporate-status conclusion is not independently established here.[1][3]
Lloyd's runs a public Market Directory of registered coverholders and links to it from its own coverholder guidance; the directory was not available, so Armilla's registration could not be confirmed or ruled out there. The Florida Division of Corporations entity record was not available, leaving Armilla Insurance Services Inc.'s state of incorporation and principal address unestablished.[6][7][3]
Licensing
Armilla describes surplus-lines availability through properly licensed brokers and identifies Armilla Insurance Services as a Lloyd's coverholder. No current California producer or surplus-lines authority was independently established, and no state-wide authority conclusion is made.[1][5]
Armilla publishes no producer or surplus-lines licence number for any state, which closes off the only search route that works reliably. State firm-name searches need a matching city as well as a name; attempts in Georgia and Texas against New York, Toronto and Miami did not identify Armilla. No conclusion follows from that: the searches were incomplete, and nothing here establishes either that Armilla holds a US licence or that it does not.[8][1]
Financial Strength
Armilla's reviewed materials name partner groups and display rating descriptors, but do not identify an exact rated legal entity, current action date, statutory capital figure or policy-specific capacity share. Partner names and marketing rating descriptors are not Armilla financial-strength evidence.[1][2]
Armilla is an intermediary, so the financial question about Armilla is whether its own operations are sustainable, and nothing answers it. No accounts, capital, funding or corporate filing for Armilla Insurance Services Inc. is available, because the Florida corporate record was not available. The insurer's capital is a separate matter and is not Armilla's: the risk on an Armilla Insured policy sits with the Lloyd's underwriters who write it, and the reinsurers Armilla names stand behind those underwriters rather than behind Armilla.[3][1][2]
Risk Bearing
One programme now has a named lead. Armilla's releases of 23 and 30 April 2025 state that its standalone AI Liability Insurance is 'underwritten by certain underwriters at Lloyd's, including Chaucer', that the binder is 'led by Chaucer', and that it is 'available to US insureds with global territorial limits'; two Chaucer executives are quoted by name. On Lloyd's own definition a coverholder writes under a binding authority granted by a managing agent, so a Chaucer-led binder is the mechanism by which Armilla can bind at all. What that establishes is the lead on one programme and the arrangement's shape. It does not give the Chaucer legal entity or syndicate number, the participation shares of the underwriters on the binder, the binder's limit or its term, and it remains Armilla's own account: Lloyd's public Market Directory, the register that would corroborate it, was not available.[10][9][6][7]
Armilla distinguishes AI liability insurance from a contractual performance warranty and says affirmative insurance is underwritten by certain Lloyd's underwriters. The proposal and policy must identify the contracting insurer or syndicate, reinsurance and buyer rights.[1]
The reinsurance claim is a different and much weaker thing. Armilla's broker page states that 'Our policies are backed by highly rated global reinsurers, including Chaucer, Axis Capital, Greenlight Re and Swiss Re', alongside a logo strip of the same four names. That sentence names no programme, attaches no participation, layer, share, treaty or period to any of the four, and sits at a different level from the underwriting disclosure: it never explains how those reinsurers relate to the Lloyd's underwriters on the Chaucer-led binder. It is treated as a company claim about backing in general, not as evidence of a reinsurance arrangement behind either named programme. Armilla Guaranteed is separately described as a contractual performance warranty rather than insurance, and no issuer or obligor is named for it at all.[2][1]
Claims Service
Armilla describes policy-period claims, limits, exclusions and a contact-led assessment-to-plan process. The reviewed materials do not identify a complete claims administrator or independent claims outcomes; assessment and monitoring are separate services.[1][4]
Armilla states that no coverage is bound or effective until confirmed in writing by an authorised representative and all underwriting requirements are satisfied, which locates binding with the delegated authority rather than with the broker. Beyond that, nothing establishes who handles a claim: no claims administrator, third-party administrator or adjuster licence is identified for Armilla or for the Lloyd's underwriters behind Armilla Insured, and Lloyd's own definition makes the administrative functions a coverholder may perform a matter for the binding authority agreement, which is not public.[1][6]
Regulatory Record
A bounded California authority review did not independently establish a current Armilla record, and no completed five-year conduct result is available. This is not a clean-record finding.[5]
No regulatory record was obtainable for Armilla in any jurisdiction. The California lookup was not available, the Georgia and Texas firm-name searches need a matching city and were not completed, the Lloyd's Market Directory was not available and the Florida corporate record was not available. This is not a clean-record finding and no conduct conclusion of any kind is drawn.[5][8][7][3]
Evidence gaps
- Armilla's Lloyd's coverholder registration is unconfirmed. Lloyd's runs a public Market Directory of registered coverholders; it was not available on 22 September 2026, so the registration was neither confirmed nor excluded.
- No US producer or surplus-lines licence number is published for Armilla in any state, and state firm-name searches require a matching city, so no licence-number or name search could be completed in Georgia or Texas. The California lookup was not available.
- The Florida Division of Corporations record for Armilla Insurance Services Inc. was not available, so its state of incorporation, status and principal address remain unestablished.
- No financial evidence of any kind exists for Armilla's own operations: no accounts, capital, funding or filing could be read.
- The Chaucer legal entity and syndicate number behind the AI Liability binder, the participation shares of the underwriters on it, its limit and its term are not disclosed, and the binding authority agreement is not public. Armilla names Chaucer as the lead; Lloyd's register was not available to corroborate it.
- The sentence naming Chaucer, Axis Capital, Greenlight Re and Swiss Re as backing reinsurers attaches to no programme, gives no layer, share, treaty or period, and does not explain how those reinsurers relate to the underwriters on the Chaucer-led binder. It is a company claim and is not treated as evidence of a reinsurance arrangement behind either named programme.
- No issuer, obligor or buyer remedy is identified for Armilla Guaranteed, which Armilla describes as a contractual performance warranty rather than insurance.
- No claims administrator, third-party administrator or adjuster authority is identified for either programme.
- No completed five-year conduct result is available, and no regulatory record for Armilla was obtainable in any jurisdiction.
- No capacity of any kind is evidenced for Armilla Guaranteed. The warranty is described as a contractual performance obligation rather than insurance, and no issuer, obligor or buyer remedy is named, so the Chaucer-led binder evidence does not reach it.

Licenses and Authority
These are reviewed authority records for the named legal entities and scope. A license record does not establish that a particular policy is available, bound, or suitable.
No license records are listed for this assessment. See the evidence gaps for what remains unconfirmed.
