Evidence and Scope

Role: Hybrid provider. Scope: Pie Insurance Services, Inc. as producer/administrator; The Pie Insurance Company and Pie Casualty Insurance Company as separately named P&C entities. This review does not assign Pie Casualty to a product without product-specific evidence and does not treat Pie Group Holdings, Inc. as an insurer.

Pie’s legal page separates Pie Insurance Services, Inc. as the producer and administrator from The Pie Insurance Company and affiliated insurers. Pie Group Holdings, Inc. is the group holding company identified in the public materials; it is not treated as the policy issuer.[4][3]

Licensing

Pie publishes producer license entries, including California nonresident producer 0M72907, Colorado resident producer 555231 and District of Columbia producer 3000466257. Missouri independently lists The Pie Insurance Company active with certificate B424258 and NAIC 21857. These producer and insurer records establish different legal roles and do not make every Pie product available in every listed state.[4][5]

Financial Strength

AM Best’s April 24, 2026 disclosure lists Pie Casualty Insurance Company, NAIC 10997, with an A- (Excellent) financial-strength rating and stable outlook. The rating is for the named insurer/rating unit and is not a rating of Pie Insurance Services, Inc. or proof that every Pie product uses that insurer.[1]

Missouri’s 2025 market data for The Pie Insurance Company (NAIC 21857) reports $5,897,893 of direct workers-compensation premium written, $5,005,941 earned, $1,596,794 of direct losses incurred and a 161.9% direct loss ratio. Those figures are Missouri market data for that insurer and line, not a group-wide solvency statement; the Missouri page reports no financial exam in its displayed record.[5]

Risk-Bearing Relationships

Pie says workers-compensation policies are underwritten by The Pie Insurance Company and affiliates, while commercial auto, BOP, general liability and professional liability are underwritten by unaffiliated third-party insurers. The carrier must therefore be confirmed by product, state and policy.[4]

Claims and Service

Pie publishes online and telephone claim-reporting routes and says a claims professional follows up, determines coverage under the policy and explains benefits when a claim is accepted. These are process disclosures and do not independently establish claims outcomes.[2]

Regulatory Record

Missouri’s company detail page lists The Pie Insurance Company active and provides historical market-regulation and company-change information; Illinois lists Pie Casualty Insurance Company as an active P&C entity. A complete five-year conduct search for all Pie entities and a full producer appointment search are not established in this record.[5][3]

Evidence gaps

  • Producer license and appointment status across all jurisdictions were not independently established in this record.
  • The legal disclosure does not map Pie Casualty Insurance Company specifically to generic workers-compensation underwriting; exact policy/product issuer evidence is required.
  • Product/state mapping for third-party insurers is not fully disclosed in generic pages.
  • Current reinsurance/capacity allocation and claims-administrator responsibilities need product-specific evidence.
  • Complete five-year conduct search across producer and carrier entities is not established in this record.
