Does K&R Cover Hijacking?

Some K&R products list hijacking as a covered event, but the definition and covered expense provisions control.

Chubb’s U.S. product summary lists hijacking among the events for which its described policy makes limits available. The summary also says policy language as issued governs. A general label can cover a narrow set of circumstances, so do not assume it applies to every seizure of a vehicle, vessel, aircraft, or shipment.

Check the policy definition, the type of conveyance or hostage situation covered, who must be aboard, required duration, and territorial conditions. Then review the insuring clauses for ransom, custody, response expense, or repatriation and their separate limits. If your exposure involves cargo or commercial transport, compare K&R with cargo and marine coverage rather than assuming one replaces the other.
