Does K&R Cover Cyber Extortion?

Some K&R wording may include cyber extortion, but you must confirm the definition, limit, and relationship to cyber insurance.

Chubb lists extortion as a K&R event and offers a separate cyber product with a ransomware encounter endorsement. That does not prove its K&R form covers every cyber demand or that the cyber policy covers the same expenses. Cyber extortion may involve a demand tied to data, systems, or disclosure; traditional K&R wording may use a different trigger and response process.

Compare both policies’ definitions, insured property and people, ransom terms, consultant access, business interruption, data recovery, limits, retentions, and consent requirements. Ask which policy responds first and how shared limits or other-insurance clauses work. Use the exact issued forms; product summaries cannot resolve overlap for a particular incident.
