Which Companies Offer Builders Risk Insurance?

Use your project details to find insurers that will actually consider the risk, then compare their written forms and terms.

Builders risk is offered through insurers and brokers, but no single company list applies to every project: location, building type, size, renovation scope, and construction stage affect eligibility. Ask a licensed broker or insurer which markets will consider your project and who will issue the policy.

The California Department of Insurance guide recommends verifying a broker-agent’s license and explains that brokers and agents may access different sets of insurers. Ask which legal insurer will issue your policy, whether it is authorized in the project state, and which company is responsible for claims handling. A broker or online marketplace may arrange coverage without being the insurer.

Request proposals from markets willing to consider your project and compare their actual forms, limits, exclusions, deductibles, and service details. Check the producer’s role and compensation, and confirm that the selected insurer and terms satisfy lender and construction-contract requirements.
