Corgi vs
Mylo
Compare Corgi’s startup liability packages with Mylo’s commercial shopping and group-benefits service as a small employer grows.
Introduction
Corgi offers technology startups insurance packages that combine business and management liability needs as funding and hiring change. Its agency uses affiliated and partner insurers. 2 1 Mylo is an insurance broker that recommends commercial coverage and compares available quotes online or with an advisor. It also offers a separate small-group employee-benefits service. 23 24 36
For a small technology employer hiring its first substantial team, the buyer needs to know which insurance problems can be coordinated together and which need separate expertise. Corgi’s package discussion centers on the company’s liabilities; Mylo’s benefits service adds an employee enrollment and HR-administration task. Benefits and startup liability insurance may be complementary purchases rather than alternatives. 2 36

Key Differences Between Corgi and Mylo
Employer Liability Versus Employee Benefits
Corgi’s catalogue includes employment-practices and fiduciary liability among its startup coverages. Those are different questions from choosing employees’ medical, dental or disability benefits. Mylo markets health, dental, vision, life, disability and other group benefits with enrollment support. Ask which advisor handles the insurance protecting the company and which handles the plans employees will enroll in; a mention of employees in both catalogues does not make the products interchangeable. 2 36
Mylo markets small-group benefits to employers with 2–99 employees, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, accident and critical-illness options. It describes online or phone enrollment, a year-round HR portal and help from a licensed benefits advisor. 36
the employer is recruiting in several states. The benefits discussion needs the proposed plans, provider networks, contribution and enrollment arrangements, while the commercial discussion needs locations, payroll and accepted business activities. Mylo’s stated benefits audience does not establish every plan’s availability, and Corgi’s producer-license list does not establish every liability product’s availability. Obtain state- and product-specific answers before promising either coverage to an employee or an insurer qualification to a customer. 36 23 4 1
Commercial Coverage Overlap and Premises Insurance
The commercial catalogues overlap. Mylo lists business owner’s policies, general liability, professional liability, cyber and workers’ compensation; Corgi’s startup packages feature general liability, technology errors and omissions, cyber and directors and officers cover. If the employer needs protection for software performance and a board, ask Mylo to identify the offered forms and how those requirements will be arranged, rather than treating generic professional liability as automatically equivalent to technology E&O. Ask Corgi which additional policies are needed for the premises and workforce. 23 32 2
Mylo describes a BOP combining general liability, property and business interruption. That can make premises insurance part of the commercial discussion, but the quote still needs to identify the insured property and interruption conditions. Corgi’s stage package should likewise be mapped to the actual office and software operations. Compare complete proposed combinations, not the number of products on either site. 27 2 1
Online Purchasing, Advisors and Issuing Insurers
Mylo says some coverage/carrier combinations can be purchased entirely online, but an agent finalizes the policy in most cases. Corgi offers self-service and specialist routes and advertises rapid purchasing for eligible applicants. For a hiring or contract deadline, ask what information remains outstanding and who confirms the effective date. A recommendation, quote comparison and finished purchase are separate milestones. 23 25 2
The issuing insurer also remains distinct from the advisor and corporate backer. Group 1001’s backing of Mylo does not identify the insurer for a commercial placement. Corgi’s affiliated/partner structure similarly requires the policy name. If Technology Risk Retention Group is proposed, Corgi says it has no AM Best rating and its policies lack state guaranty-fund protection; Corgi also describes eligible admitted/partner alternatives. Apply any contractual insurer requirement to the specific offer from each provider. 38 26 1 20
Fees, Billing and Service Contacts
Mylo says its guided shopping service is free and that 95% of customers do not pay Mylo a fee when purchasing. It generally earns a carrier commission; in fewer than 5% of transactions, it says it charges a fee when it handles billing and incurs higher administrative costs. The reviewed disclosure does not give the fee amount. 24
The stated customer and transaction frequencies do not establish the amount this employer would pay. Ask whether Mylo will handle billing and what that costs. Corgi discloses possible producer fees or commissions and publishes illustrative startup price ranges. Obtain actual premium and fees for the matched commercial program, then budget employee benefits separately. 24 36 1 2
Mylo’s benefits page describes a year-round HR portal, but that does not establish one universal portal for all commercial policies. Its carrier directory sends customers to insurer-specific support and claims contacts, with a Mylo service fallback. Corgi describes dashboard changes and a claims team, potentially using affiliated or third-party administration. Before consolidating purchases, map the actual service routes: adding an employee to benefits, changing a commercial limit and reporting a cyber incident may have different owners. These descriptions do not establish comparative response or settlement quality. 36 26 2 1
What to Confirm in Quotes
- Two connected schedules: the company’s commercial policies and the employee-benefit plans, with responsible advisors, covered states and renewal dates. 36 2
- Software and board wording: identify technology services, cyber response and D&O requirements separately from generic professional liability or a premises BOP. 32 27 2
- The complete employer budget: actual commercial premiums and Mylo/Corgi charges, benefits contributions and any payment-plan costs, with billing responsibilities named. 24 36 1
- A service contact map: benefits enrollment changes, commercial certificates and endorsements, renewals and the insurer’s claim-reporting channels. 36 26 1
Service Comparison
Corgi vs Mylo: documented services and availability
| Criteria | Corgi | Mylo |
|---|---|---|
| Coverage lines | Corgi’s startup packages combine general liability, directors and officers, technology errors and omissions, cyber, media, employment practices, fiduciary, and hired and non-owned auto coverage. Its technology offering includes a Tech & AI Liability module. 2,8,10 Corgi’s D&O page describes claims-made coverage for directors, officers, and the company under form CORG-DO-0100, issued by Technology Risk Retention Group. The example has defense costs within the policy limit and a $25,000 per-claim retention—the portion of a claim you pay. Your quote and policy set the actual terms. 5 Risk retention groups can write business liability insurance for their members. They cannot provide other types of insurance, such as property coverage, so a package with those products needs another insurer. 19,21 | Mylo’s current commercial catalogue lists business owner’s policies, commercial auto, general liability, cyber, medical malpractice, professional liability, surety bonds, commercial umbrella and workers’ compensation. 23,27,28,29,30,31,32,33,34,35 Mylo describes a business owner’s policy as combining general liability, commercial property and business-interruption coverage. The actual causes of loss, property, locations, limits and interruption period depend on the offered policy. 23,27 Mylo’s commercial-auto page describes bodily-injury and property-damage liability, with collision, comprehensive and non-owned-auto coverage as possible components depending on the business and vehicles. 28 For medical professionals, Mylo markets claims-made and occurrence malpractice policies and says tail coverage can extend reporting under a claims-made policy. Its page treats cyber liability as separate coverage to add rather than a protection supplied by malpractice insurance alone. 31 Mylo markets small-group benefits to employers with 2–99 employees, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, accident and critical-illness options. It describes online or phone enrollment, a year-round HR portal and help from a licensed benefits advisor. 36 The reviewed public product pages do not provide current specimen policies, endorsements or a complete schedule of limits, deductibles, exclusions and state variations. Those terms must be checked in the actual quote and policy forms. 23,31,25 |
| Application process | You can apply online or book a call with a Corgi specialist. Corgi says eligible applicants can get a quote in minutes and buy coverage the same day. Its disclosures describe both an issued-policy-and-payment condition and temporary coverage under a written binder. Confirm the applicable conditions and effective date in writing. 2,1 | A business buyer can answer questions about the company and industry online or work by phone with a licensed advisor. Mylo says its system recommends coverage and compares available quotes; some carrier and coverage combinations can be purchased online, but an agent finalizes the policy in most cases. 23,25 Mylo’s Terms of Use say a purchase may carry additional transaction terms, require accurate and complete application answers and is not guaranteed to result in an issued policy. The posted site terms were last updated in November 2018, so buyers should review the current terms presented with a quote. 25 |
| Fees and compensation | Corgi Insurance Services may receive commissions or fees from the insurer or the customer. You can ask for the type and amount of compensation on your policy. 1 Corgi lists typical annual prices of $2,000–$5,000 for eligible pre-seed and seed startups and $5,000–$15,000 for Series A companies. Your price depends on the business, state, coverage, limits, and other underwriting details. 2,6,7 | Mylo says its guided shopping service is free and that 95% of customers do not pay Mylo a fee when purchasing. It generally earns a carrier commission; in fewer than 5% of transactions, it says it charges a fee when it handles billing and incurs higher administrative costs. The reviewed disclosure does not give the fee amount. 24 |
| Servicing and renewals | Corgi says customers can add or upgrade policies through its dashboard as they raise funding, hire, or sign larger contracts. Renewal and cancellation terms depend on the policy and state rules. 2,1 | The reviewed public pages identify Mylo advisors, a service-professional fallback and a benefits HR portal, but do not establish one universal workflow for commercial policy changes, certificates, renewals or cancellations across carriers. 23,26,36 |
| Claims assistance | Corgi describes a claims team that helps with reporting an incident, documentation, legal coordination, and progress updates. An affiliated team or third-party administrator may handle the claim; the insurer named in the policy remains responsible for coverage decisions and payment. 1,2,12 | Mylo publishes carrier-specific support and claims contacts and directs customers to the insurer for many service needs. If a carrier is not listed, the page gives a Mylo Service Professional number; it does not promise that Mylo decides or pays claims. 26 |
