What Does Inland Marine Insurance Cover?

It may cover scheduled or otherwise described property against covered physical loss, including some property in transit or at changing work locations. The form controls.

There is no single inland-marine coverage grant. The California Department of Insurance lists equipment floaters, installation floaters, motor truck cargo, trip transit, accounts receivable, and valuable papers as distinct examples. Its guide says standard inland-marine perils may include events such as theft, collision, flood, or overturn, but a particular form can differ.

For example, an AAIS contractors’ equipment form covers described equipment, including certain equipment of others in the insured’s care, custody, or control, when the required schedule option applies. Compare your quote’s covered-property description, schedule, covered causes of loss, limits, deductible, and exclusions with what you actually move, store, or install.
