Do I Need Insurance for Grubhub in California?
Yes. Grubhub requires insurance for every motor vehicle used and all delivery-related activities. Confirm that your policy permits the work. California’s network-company liability, occupational benefits and health subsidy have separate conditions; injury cover does not repair your car.
Insurance Before You Accept a Grubhub Offer
Cover Every Vehicle and the Actual Delivery Activities
Yes. Section 2(a)(v)(1) of Grubhub's published delivery-partner agreement requires insurance for every motor vehicle used to deliver, covering all activities connected with the delivery services and meeting state and local requirements. It warns that personal liability, comprehensive, collision, medical-payments, PIP and uninsured or underinsured protection may not apply during the work. Describe your actual vehicles, drivers, store travel, pickups, deliveries, returns and other apps to your insurer. Ask which contract or endorsement permits the activity and which benefits remain excluded. An approved app account or a personal insurance card does not establish that the insurer accepted courier use. Keep the written response and the applicable declarations and endorsements. 26,2,13
The Ordinary California Minimum Is Not a Fleet-policy Schedule
Vehicle Code section 16056(a)(2) sets ordinary policy minimums of $30,000 for one person's injury or death, $60,000 for multiple people in an accident and $15,000 for property damage for policies issued or renewed from January 1, 2025. DMV confirms those figures. The section also contains earlier and future amounts, so read the effective dates. These are ordinary minimums, not Grubhub's issued auto-policy schedule or a recommendation for your assets. Insurance Code section 11580.1 addresses described vehicles, insured persons, use and permitted exclusions. A higher personal liability limit does not automatically authorize deliveries; establish the use terms and the amounts together. 3,1,2
An Additional-insured Request Must Be Checked Specifically
The agreement reserves Grubhub's right to require additional-insured status on a policy required by the contract. That reservation is not proof that a particular driver received such a request, that an insurer added the status, or that an insurance card supplies it. If requested, ask the insurer which endorsement applies, to which activities and dates, and obtain the actual evidence. Keep the request and response with your insurance records. The same insurance section assigns other insurance duties with legal qualifications, including a possible California health subsidy. Do not treat one contractual duty as a complete statement of every benefit the network company must provide under state law. 26,27,4
Track Renewal Proof and the Written Cancellation Notice
Section 2(a)(v)(5) calls for proof of insurance and updated proof on renewal or alteration when requested, and written notice to Grubhub at least 30 days before cancellation of a specified policy. Section 2(b) separately calls for immediate notice when relevant representations stop being true. Ask which written-notice route applies and keep confirmation; merely changing an app image may not establish compliance with a notice provision. Section 2(d)'s possible suspension and 30-day cure framework concerns account eligibility. It is not a grace period during which a canceled policy continues to insure driving. Arrange suitable replacement protection before continuing work and do not infer cover from the account remaining accessible. 26,27
The Attachment’s Filename Does Not Establish Its Revision
The agreement webpage shows an October 22, 2026 update, but its linked English PDF, labeled 2026 in the filename, has an internal December 4, 2024 update footnote on page one. The copies also give different principal-office addresses in their preambles. Their reviewed insurance clauses align, but this is not a finding that every provision is identical or that either copy is your accepted contract. The agreement is effective on acceptance and has separate modification and notice provisions. Get the version, addenda and change notices applicable to your account and accident date. Do not use a filename year, webpage update or preamble address alone to decide contractual currency or where a formal notice must go. 26,27
California Delivery Liability and the Activity Timeline
Read the Conditional Delivery-network Liability Requirement
Business and Professions Code section 7455(f)(1) requires a delivery network company to maintain at least $1 million per occurrence in automobile liability for third parties during engaged time in the specified circumstance where the car is not otherwise covered by a policy complying with Insurance Code section 11580.1(b). The otherwise-covered condition matters. This is not an authenticated Grubhub policy, carrier identification, first-dollar priority clause or limit for every online minute. Ask how the actual California policy implements the requirement. The contractor's insurance duties and a company's statutory obligations can coexist. Do not replace the delivery provision with the separate passenger TNC requirement merely because another app also uses the car. 4,2,26,25
Obtain the Actual Auto Insurer, Periods and Priority
The reviewed public agreement requires your insurance but does not publish a complete California Grubhub auto fleet-policy schedule. The California occupational FAQ names an injury policy and insurer; it does not identify the auto carrier or establish collision, UM/UIM or medical-payments terms for the car. Request the applicable auto policy, certificate, endorsements, insured driver and vehicle definitions, effective dates, limits and priority. Ask about available time, travel to pickup, accepted deliveries, cancellations and returns separately. A requirement in legislation does not supply every missing contract term, while a missing public policy is not evidence that no policy exists. The checker retains these questions instead of inventing a fleet schedule. 26,28,4
Active Delivery Time Is Not the Entire Online Shift
Grubhub's current active-time FAQ describes the period from accepting an offer until completion or cancellation by the customer or restaurant. It excludes payment for abandonment, choosing not to complete and detected fraud. Section 7463 separately defines statutory engaged time, with cancellation, abandonment and specified fraud-prevention qualifications, plus its own delivery-distance and order-count conditions. Preserve the actual accepted request, pickup, completion and cancellation records. A scheduled block or app-online status does not by itself establish continuous engaged time. This company earnings definition also is not the missing auto insurer's covered-period wording or a replacement for the broader occupational online-time rule discussed below. 33,5,26
Check the Actual Request and Statutory Delivery Category
Section 7463 defines delivery services to include pickup and customer delivery within 50 miles, with no more than 12 distinct customer orders in a delivery request. It includes selecting, collecting or purchasing items connected with an accepted delivery and has other defined exclusions. Grubhub's agreement separately allows payment-card orders placed at merchants and describes acceptance of a fee offer as an engagement. A restaurant delivery, a purchase-on-behalf order and several grouped customer orders can therefore require different records even within the same app. Keep the actual offer, orders, pickup and completion details. This review does not assume that a batch label or vehicle alone establishes every statutory condition or an insurer's covered-service definition. 5,4,26
Uninsured Protection and Your Own Injury Need Separate Wording
The agreement specifically warns that personal UM/UIM and medical-payments benefits may not apply while delivering. It does not establish a current California platform UM/UIM limit or a universal repair benefit when another driver is uninsured. Insurance Code section 11580.2 has its own definitions, coverage choices and coordination rules, and section 7455(e) addresses treatment of required occupational benefits for specified auto-insurance payments. Ask your insurer what you bought for delivery use, which people and vehicles are insured and how other benefits are considered. Liability to third parties, your medical expenses and damage to your car are different questions; the statutory liability amount should not be copied into all three. 26,8,4,13
Your Car, Subcontractors and Other Work
Vehicle-loss Responsibility Is Not Collision Insurance
Section 5(c) assigns equipment and operating costs to the delivery partner and assumes equipment-loss risk except where law requires otherwise. The California occupational FAQ separately says that injury cover does not pay for vehicle damage. Neither statement is an issued auto repair policy or a final legal decision about an individual loss. No current Grubhub California contingent collision benefit, repair cap or deductible was authenticated in this review. Confirm your own delivery-permitted comprehensive and collision, and obtain any actual additional policy said to apply. Selecting yes for personal comprehensive and collision in the checker does not establish a separate platform repair benefit. 26,40,13
Plan for the Deductible, Downtime and Replacement Vehicle
CDI's auto guide distinguishes comprehensive, collision, rental reimbursement, towing and loan-gap protection. Confirm the delivery-use terms for each benefit you need and whether a replacement car may be used for deliveries. Ask what happens after theft, a single-car collision or damage caused by an uninsured driver, and whether the insured value could be below the loan balance. The reviewed Grubhub sources do not establish automatic rental reimbursement or income replacement whenever the car is unavailable. Occupational lost-income protection concerns a covered injury and separate conditions. A car awaiting repairs without an insured injury is therefore not enough, by itself, to establish that benefit. 13,26,40,4
Check the Agreed Vehicle and Any Borrowed or Rented Use
Section 4(a)(vi) refers to a motor vehicle or bicycle as agreed with Grubhub and requires appropriate registration for the market. Section 2's motor-vehicle insurance duty concerns every vehicle used. Do not infer that every vehicle mode is available in every location, or that a rental booking or owner's permission authorizes paid delivery under the insurance and rental terms. Confirm the car, drivers, actual use and any substitute vehicle before work starts. This publication's checker snapshot concerns an ordinary owned car. It withholds that snapshot for borrowed, rented and non-car inputs; the broader contract discussion is not an individualized eligibility decision or a declaration that bicycle delivery has identical insurance. 26,2,13
Subcontractors Require Advance Documentation and Insurance Review
Section 7 permits legally compliant subcontracting and says the delivery partner need not personally perform each service, while retaining responsibility for the subcontractor's performance, compensation and expenses. The subcontractor must comply with the agreement through a written arrangement; a copy must reach Grubhub at least seven days before services begin, and Grubhub must be notified when the subcontractor will perform them. Do not import another app's passenger or accepting-shopper-presence rule. Confirm the actual approved access arrangement, insured driver, vehicle and employer obligations without assuming contractual permission extends an insurance policy. Section 2's insurance duties and section 8's indemnities make those questions consequential even when someone else makes the delivery. 26,27,2
An Indemnity and an Insurance Endorsement Do Different Jobs
Section 8 contains indemnity obligations for specified claims connected with the delivery partner, subcontractors and contractual failures, including defense costs and property or personal-injury claims. That promise is not itself an insurance policy or proof that a purchased policy covers every contractual obligation. Likewise, a reserved right to request additional-insured status does not establish that an endorsement was issued. Ask your insurer which policies address the actual delivery activities and assumed obligations, including events away from the moving car, and identify any relevant exclusions. Keep the actual request, contract and endorsements together. This guide does not decide an indemnity's enforceability or infer an obligation to buy a particular additional product from a general clause. 26,27,13
Concurrent Work Does Not Decide Insurance Priority
Section 4(d) permits services for other businesses, including competitors, concurrently where they do not hinder the Grubhub engagement. That is not proof that either insurer covers overlapping activity or that their limits can be combined. Disclose all delivery and passenger work to your own insurer, and retain the actual requests and activity at the accident time. Passenger TNC insurance provisions in Public Utilities Code sections 5430–5435 differ from the DNC delivery provision. A rideshare endorsement or another app's passenger repair description is not a Grubhub coverage answer. The checker can show separate published research but cannot resolve competing policies, personal detours or an individual's multi-app claim. 26,25,4,2
California Occupational Injury and Death Protection
Use the California Policy Identification for the California Question
The California-specific FAQ, updated September 23, 2026, names occupational policy OCA 0553716-00, Zurich American Insurance Company and Marsh Risk & Insurance Services, with the stated California broker license. It expressly says the actual policy controls if the FAQ differs. This is a company insurance summary, not a retained issued policy or certificate. It identifies an injury program rather than the auto insurer. Obtain the actual covered-person, activity, territory, limits, exclusions, notice and effective-period provisions for the event. A policy number and named insurer are useful starting points, but they do not authenticate a renewal, an individual's eligibility or every benefit condition. 28,4
Do Not Merge the Separate General Program Into California
A general occupational page, updated October 13, 2026, names policy OCA 5564172-00, also with Zurich American and Marsh, and describes delivery partners generally. The California section still displays the different OCA 0553716-00 identifier. Neither summary establishes that one replaces the other for a particular California driver or that benefits can be stacked. The California eligibility page and an older enrollment page agree on automatic California participation, but their outside-California wording also differs across dates. Keep the program branch, actual policy and event location together. This guide does not use the general headline or an older outside-state enrollment sentence to decide California policy applicability. 29,28,36,37
California Eligibility and No-charge Statements Have Conditions
The California eligibility page says drivers in the state became automatically eligible from March 1, 2021, subject to policy terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions. Its enrollment page says no action is needed to enroll, while the September 2026 cost FAQ says California drivers pay no premium or deductible for this protection. These are company statements about the occupational program. They do not waive a deductible on your car insurance, authenticate every insured-person definition or eliminate the contract's other insurance duties. Ask how a subcontractor, changed work arrangement or other eligibility issue is treated under the actual policy rather than treating automatic participation as an individual claim approval. 36,37,39,26
The Injury FAQ Is Narrower Than the Statutory Online Rule
Grubhub's September 23, 2026 accident FAQ says occupational protection applies only while actively delivering, from offer acceptance to delivery or cancellation. Section 7455(a)–(c), where its app-based-driver conditions are met, requires protection for injuries while online and defines online to include availability to receive requests as well as engaged time. Those public descriptions should not be collapsed into a finding that waiting injuries are uninsured. The actual policy was not obtained, so this review cannot resolve its wording or conclude that a particular claim or legal violation occurred. Ask Zurich for the applicable period and how the statutory online requirement and exceptions are implemented. Keep available, accepted, personal and other-app activity separate. 38,4,5
The Statute Specifies Medical and Lost-income Minimums
Section 7455(a) calls for medical expenses up to at least $1 million and disability payments at 66% of average weekly earnings from all network companies, subject to specified weekly limits and up to the first 104 weeks following injury. Its earnings reference is the preceding 28 days divided by four. Read the app-based-driver and network-company definitions and conditions with the benefit provision. These are legal requirements, not a complete Grubhub policy schedule or proof that an ordinary illness, every work arrangement or every claimed expense qualifies. Obtain the actual policy and claim calculation, including what establishes a covered accident and the relevant medical or disability evidence. 4,5,10,28
Use the Injury Year and All-network Earnings
Section 7455 references Labor Code section 4453(a) for weekly payment limits. DWC's dated 2026 notice lists temporary total disability reference rates from $264.61 to $1,764.11 per week, effective January 1, 2026. These references should not be presented as an individual's automatic payment without the covered injury, earnings evidence and actual calculation. Keep relevant network earnings statements for the statutory reference period and ask how tips, the percentage, minimum and maximum, injury date and any offsets were applied. The occupational summary's carrier name does not establish all those terms, and a historical rate or a car being unavailable does not establish current disability entitlement. 4,10,19,28
Read Other-app Exclusions With the Statutory Qualifications
An older California FAQ says this policy does not cover injury while delivering for another company. Section 7455(d) is more specific: required protection need not cover an accident outside engaged time when the driver is personally occupied or engaged on another network, and it provides contribution rules where multiple network policies cover the accident. The agreement's permission for concurrent work is a separate matter. Do not use the short FAQ to resolve every simultaneous engagement or assume several policies must pay in full. Preserve each app's request and actual activity, obtain the applicable wording and ask the insurer which statutory and contractual facts support its period or contribution decision. 41,4,26
Burial Expenses and Dependent Death Benefits Differ
Section 7455(b) addresses accidental-death protection and incorporates Labor Code sections 4701 and 4702 for burial and dependency-based benefits. Section 4701 includes injury-date categories, including burial expenses up to $10,000 for the specified later injuries. Section 4702 has separate dependency-based amounts and additional provisions for certain children. A burial amount is not the whole death-benefit limit, and every relative is not automatically an eligible dependent. Obtain the policy, covered-injury and death evidence, relationship and dependency records and the applicable calculation. These benefits are distinct from third-party auto damages, the driver's ordinary health plan and the cost of repairing the vehicle. 4,11,12,28
A Contractual Insurance Duty Does Not Resolve Worker Status
Section 7451 makes its independent-contractor classification conditional on the statutory relationship. Grubhub's contract separately requires workers' compensation, with an occupational alternative only where legally permitted, and says maintaining one's own workers' compensation does not disqualify participation in certain group plans. Do not assume the California group program necessarily satisfies every employer obligation for personnel. CDI's February 2021 implementation notice explains insurance categories for required occupational benefits, rather than establishing a person's employment status or Grubhub's actual policy. Its historical liability cross-reference also differs from current section 7455. Identify the actual relationship, legal requirements and insurance arrangement before treating one product or contractual label as the entire answer. 6,26,20,4
Check the Individual’s Relationship and the Statutory Conditions
The Act defines an app-based driver as an individual meeting its network-service and section 7451 conditions. Those conditions concern prescribed dates or hours, compulsory acceptance of particular requests, restrictions on other-network work outside engaged time and restrictions on other lawful occupations. Grubhub's agreement also contemplates a delivery business and subcontractors; an entity's contract does not establish that every person working through it has an identical legal relationship or insured status. Identify who accepted the agreement, who performs the service and which policy insures each person. The group injury summary, a contractor label and permission to delegate should not replace that analysis or be used to determine an individual's employment or benefit dispute. 6,5,26
California Health Subsidies and Proof
Qualify on Grubhub’s Own Engaged Hours for the Quarter
The live healthcare FAQ, updated September 29, 2026, uses an average of at least 15 but fewer than 25 active hours per week for its first tier and 25 or more for its second. It says a submission is reviewed only once the minimum first-tier hours are reached. Section 7454 measures engaged hours on each network company's platform during the calendar quarter and permits subsidies from more than one company where independently qualified. Combining ten Grubhub hours with another app's ten does not establish the Grubhub first tier. Keep the actual quarterly receipts and ask how disputed accepted, canceled or incomplete requests were treated; time online alone is not automatically engaged time. 30,33,4,5
Distinguish Rounded Monthly Figures From the Reference Formula
Grubhub's current page multiplies $289 by three for a posted $867 partial quarterly subsidy and $579 by three for $1,737 at the full tier. Covered California's June 2026 guide gives a $706 average monthly bronze premium and rounded monthly illustrations. Sections 7454 and 7463 use an 82% contribution and the full or half tier. Applying the unrounded reference for three months yields $868.38 partial and $1,736.76 full. The page's monthly rounding therefore matters, especially for the partial amount. This comparison does not establish what Grubhub actually paid or a violation. Ask for the applicable quarter's calculation and retain the response and payment record rather than silently equating the two methods. 30,21,4,5
The Subscriber and Plan Type Matter
The healthcare page's introduction mentions Covered California, while its detailed eligibility rule and section 7463 address a qualifying plan where the driver is the subscriber and exclude Medicare, Medicaid and employer-sponsored coverage. Covered California's guide explains eligible individual-market plans, including qualifying minimum-coverage plans, and distinguishes the stipend from financial help for enrollment. Do not infer from the introduction that every eligible plan must be bought through the exchange, or that dependent status on someone else's plan is sufficient. The subsidy also does not enroll you in a plan or pay every medical expense. Confirm the actual subscriber, plan and coverage period for the quarter. 30,5,21
Use the Current Proof Route and Treat Screenshots as Examples
Grubhub asks for the effective date, driver as subscriber and insurer name; it lists examples such as an insurance card, evidence of coverage or relevant claim documents and permits up to five documents in the app. The October 19, 2026 tracking page places progress under Earnings and the healthcare-subsidy section, with proof submission, verification and status under Personal info, then Proof of health insurance. Its images are expressly examples, so their illustrated amounts are not a current benefit schedule. Covered California's October guide describes a quarterly proof PDF and optional consent-based sharing; that does not prove a particular Grubhub submission was transmitted or accepted. Keep the actual evidence and acknowledgment. 30,31,22,21
Auto Proof, Health Proof and an Injury Claim Are Separate Records
A motor-vehicle insurance card can help document compliance with the delivery contract, but it does not prove subscriber status on a qualifying health plan. The app's Proof of health insurance route concerns the quarterly subsidy. An occupational injury claim instead goes to the provider identified by the California claim FAQ and needs the applicable policy and event evidence. Keep the purpose, recipient, effective period and acknowledgment clear for each submission. Do not assume that uploading one document establishes all three kinds of protection, that a subsidy approval authorizes paid auto use, or that automatic occupational participation eliminates the contract's vehicle-insurance duties. The public checker does not request these private documents. 26,30,31,35
Separate the Fifteen-day Proof Window From Payment Timing
The current FAQ requires submitting or confirming qualifying enrollment proof no later than 15 days after quarter-end. It separately says payment follows within 15 days after quarter-end or proof submission, whichever is later, and explains its hours threshold for approval. Section 7454(d) provides at least 15 calendar days for proof and a corresponding later-of payment rule for a subsidy that is due. Record the quarter, submission or confirmation, review result and payment date. Do not import another app's month-long request window or assume a proof deadline is also the payment date. An unresolved stipend decision goes to Grubhub; Covered California handles its own health-enrollment matters. 30,4,21
Earnings, Service Records and Account Duties
Mileage and Guaranteed Earnings Are Not Accident Benefits
Grubhub's current pay page describes 120% of the local pickup-location minimum wage during active time plus $0.37 per active mile, with tips outside the minimum calculation. Its $14 wage example is hypothetical, not a verified current statewide or local wage. Section 7453 supplies the earnings-floor and vehicle-expense framework, including annual adjustment. Those payments concern performed services; they are not collision insurance, a deductible waiver or automatic income protection while a car is unavailable. A statutory earnings adjustment and an occupational disability claim require different facts and processes. Check the actual period, pickup location, time and miles instead of substituting the example or an insurance headline for the calculation. 32,33,7,26
Keep Permitted Records and Distinguish Company Disputes
Section 4 requires app updates for acceptance, arrival, pickup and completion, while section 11 restricts retaining or using customer personal information beyond the delivery purpose. Ask for the appropriate records through the private claims process rather than downloading unnecessary customer details outside the app. Section 5(e) calls for written notice of a payment dispute within 30 days of receipt; that is not an insurer's universal claim deadline. Sections 2 and 12 address eligibility, suspension and appeal opportunities, and section 13 contains a separate dispute framework with qualifications. Get advice on the applicable contract and facts where necessary. An account appeal, earnings dispute and insurance claim do not automatically resolve one another. 26,6,14
After an Accident: Company, Insurer and DMV Reports
Address Safety and the Unfinished Order Separately
Grubhub's current emergency page directs an injured driver or anyone facing an immediate safety threat to local emergency services. If everyone is safe but the order cannot be completed, it directs the driver to Account and Current deliveries within the Contact Driver Care about submenu. The delivery agreement also requires prompt notice of order or address problems. These steps concern emergency help and the delivery, not proof that an auto insurer or occupational insurer has a complete claim. Notify the appropriate insurer and obtain its reporting instructions, policy requirements and acknowledgment too. Do not continue an unsafe delivery or assume an app-support conversation substitutes for every other required report. 34,26,14
California Occupational Claims Go Directly to the Provider
The California-only claim FAQ, updated August 8, 2026, directs an occupational claim to the linked Zurich online claims portal or the listed provider phone number. It expressly says to submit to the insurance provider, not directly to Grubhub, and says a third-party adjuster will guide the process. Keep the claim acknowledgment and ask which policy and insured period apply, including the online-time discrepancy noted above. Report any auto loss separately to the relevant auto insurer. The FAQ does not publish every notice, proof or limitation deadline in the actual occupational policy. No call, claim, upload or private account action was performed as part of this public research. 35,28,38,14
The DMV Report Is an Additional Filing
Vehicle Code section 16000 generally requires a DMV report within ten days after an accident involving injury, death or property damage exceeding $1,000 to any one person's property, subject to statutory exceptions. DMV's current SR1 instructions explain that the report is required regardless of fault and that police and insurer reports do not replace it. Use the relevant vehicle and insurance details and retain a copy. A Zurich occupational claim or a Grubhub Driver Care contact is not the SR1. A delivery accident can therefore require separate company notice, auto and injury claims and a DMV filing with different recipients, evidence and deadlines. 9,23,14
Insurance Deadlines, Valuation and Regulatory Review
Preserve Uninsured-motorist Rights Through the Required Steps
Insurance Code section 11580.2(i) contains specified procedures and time conditions for certain uninsured-motorist claims, with routes involving legal action, agreement or arbitration steps. Other provisions concern underinsured or unidentified vehicles. An app report, DMV filing or routine insurer acknowledgment should not be assumed to preserve every separate right. Obtain prompt advice on the actual facts and policy where this coverage may apply, and keep correspondence. Ask the carrier to identify the provision behind a deadline it gives you. This guide does not calculate an individual's filing deadline or establish UM entitlement simply because an accident occurred during a Grubhub engagement. 8,14
A Case-by-case FAQ Does Not Replace Claims-handling Duties
Grubhub's older California processing FAQ says claims are handled case by case when required information is supplied promptly. California regulations sections 2695.5 and 2695.7 separately address communications, acknowledgment, investigation, acceptance or denial after proof and continuing notices. Specified 15-calendar-day duties and the 40-day framework have conditions and exceptions, including specified disability and repair-bill matters; they are not one universal payment timetable for all products here. Track notice, proof, requests and responses and ask what remains necessary. If a carrier denies a claim, request the actual policy provision and factual reasons rather than treating company support's answer as the insurer's formal decision. 42,15,16
Check the Car’s Value, Repairs and Deductible Recovery
Section 2695.8 addresses automobile total-loss comparisons, itemized adjustments, applicable taxes and fees, repair issues and specified towing or storage. Its conditional reopening procedure includes notice within 35 calendar days after payment or a final offer when a comparable vehicle cannot be purchased for the gross settlement amount, subject to detailed qualifications. Compare the actual model, mileage, options, condition and listings. Section 2695.7 separately addresses specified deductible recovery through subrogation. Keep estimates, supplements and receipts to identify the disputed amount. These standards do not create coverage where a policy excludes the work; first establish the responsible policy, then review its valuation. 17,16,13
Apply the Standards for the Actual Injury Product
CDI's 2021 implementation notice explains the disability-insurance categories of required occupational medical and wage benefits. Section 2695.11 adds standards for applicable life and disability claims, including explanations of benefits, specified overpayment safeguards and preauthorization rules. Emergency medical services cannot be made subject to preauthorization under that provision; its contested-claim rule concerns a specified statutory category. Do not apply an automobile property-claim timetable to every treatment or disability issue. Ask the injury insurer to identify its policy basis, medical-expense decision, earnings calculation and any offset. The platform's short FAQ and the statutory minimum are not the whole issued policy. 20,18,4
Prepare a Focused File for the Correct Review Channel
CDI's nonhealth Request for Assistance asks for the insurer, policy and claim references, a clear account, the requested resolution and supporting evidence. Include the insurer's decision, applicable wording, activity timeline and disputed estimate or benefit calculation. Its instructions explain that active litigation can lead CDI to defer regulatory investigation. A complaint does not guarantee payment, replace legal action or preserve every other deadline. Keep Grubhub stipend and account appeals separate from the carrier issue, and use private official channels for medical and claim records. The public checker provides research and questions; it does not submit claims, sign contracts, buy insurance or determine individual eligibility. 24,14,21
