Product Recall Insurance in Nevada
Nevada law allows a food safety authority to hold food suspected of being unsafe, adulterated, or misbranded; while held, it cannot be relabeled, reprocessed, disposed of, or destroyed without permission. If you manufacture or distribute food in Nevada, compare the policy’s recall trigger and expenses for testing, stored stock, correction, and destruction. 1,2
What Is Product Recall?
Product recall insurance can pay specified costs to locate and withdraw a product after a covered problem. It fits businesses that could face recall logistics; product liability does not automatically pay those costs, so compare the trigger and covered expenses. Read the national Product recall guide.
What to Watch for in Nevada
A Hold Restricts Product Handling
NRS 580.310 allows a written hold order on food determined or reasonably suspected to be unwholesome, adulterated, or misbranded. Held food may be stored suitably, but you cannot relabel, repack, reprocess, alter, dispose of, or destroy it without authority permission; ask how holding costs are treated. 1
Nevada Can Require Testing At Your Cost
If the authority has reasonable grounds to suspect a substantial health hazard, NRS 580.320 allows it to require a food-processing establishment to test the food, with the establishment responsible for the testing cost. Check whether the quote addresses regulator-requested sampling or testing separately from voluntary recall expenses. 1
Unsafe Product May Be Condemned
NRS 585.250 permits the commissioner to tag and quarantine food believed adulterated or dangerously misbranded, with removal or disposal barred until permission. Ask how the policy treats a state quarantine alongside your own withdrawal decision; neither statute establishes what an insurer will pay. 2
Who Regulates Insurance in Nevada

Surplus-lines tax and stamping office
Reported tax rate: Same tax rate as admitted coverage of the same kind; an approved filing fee may also apply When Nevada is the insured’s home state, Nevada taxes surplus-lines coverage at the rate imposed on similar admitted coverage and adds any approved filing fee; the rate therefore depends on the line and applicable fee approval. Nevada law requires a diligent effort to place coverage with authorized insurers except where the statutory exempt-commercial-purchaser conditions apply, and the policy must warn that the Nevada Insurance Guaranty Association will not cover the contract. 6,7,8,9
Providers With Documented State Licenses
No provider in Spot’s research documents both a state license record and this coverage line. This does not establish that providers are unlicensed. Check the regulator’s license lookup and confirm availability with a provider when requesting a quote.
