USI Insurance Services vs Vouch

How USI’s office-network technology practice differs from Vouch’s digital brokerage after the Corix/Hiscox transaction.

Introduction

A growth-stage software company can get two “tech broker” pitches that hide different legal maps. USI Insurance Services LLC is the producer behind the USI brand, with an Aon deal pending. Vouch Specialty Insurance Services, LLC is the current Vouch broker; Corix Insurance Services, LLC (formerly Vouch Insurance Services, LLC) and Vouch Insurance Company went to Hiscox. Mixing those names will mis-read both the policy and the service agreement. 8 32

Where Each Provider Shines

Where USI Insurance Services Shines

  • USI’s Technology practice says it works with software, hardware and related companies from early seed stage through IPO. 2,10,21
  • USI says it is customarily paid insurer commissions and may receive additional contingent compensation, with details available on request. 8

Where Vouch Shines

  • Vouch says its advisors explain carrier options side by side, including differences in coverage, exclusions, endorsements and pricing. 30
  • Buyers can request a complimentary coverage review and reviews of insurance requirements in customer, lease and funding agreements. 40,41

Key Differences Between USI and Vouch

Which Entity Is on the Broker Letter

If a Vouch proposal uses Corix paper, evaluate that program as Hiscox-owned Corix product, not as “the Vouch insurer.” USI’s PrivaSafe branding has the opposite problem: no public issuer name at all. 35 15

Intake

Vouch documents a public application and advisor-explained carrier options. USI documents an inquiry. Vouch’s “days or minutes” timing is company-reported, not a guaranteed bind. 31 5

Technology Line Lists

Both list technology errors and omissions, cyber, directors and officers, and related lines. Vouch’s list includes key person and other startup staples; USI’s Technology page adds worldwide cargo and contingent business income as named placement items. A line missing from one public list is not proof of absence. 29 10

Compensation

Both may take commissions and extra amounts (USI contingents; Vouch performance compensation and card fees). Ask for the same compensation exhibit. 24 8

Service After Placement

Vouch describes complimentary coverage and contract-requirement reviews plus certificate requests in-account. USI describes USI ONE and PATH. Pick the artifact you will use at renewal. 41 18

What to Confirm in Quotes

  • Exact producer and, if applicable, Corix versus other paper—do not treat Hiscox as Vouch Specialty’s parent. 33
  • Named cyber/E&O issuer on both sides, including whether United Specialty appears only on a Corix form. 37 15
  • How Aon’s pending close would change USI servicing versus Vouch’s already-separated Corix relationship. 21
  • Certificate and additional-insured process for a customer MSA. 43

Service Comparison

USI vs Vouch: documented services and availability

CriteriaUSI Insurance ServicesVouch
Business role

USI describes itself as a U.S. insurance brokerage and consulting firm that arranges property and casualty, employee benefits, personal risk, program, and retirement solutions. The reviewed official pages do not identify USI as the insurer that issues commercial policies. 2,1,8,21

USI’s commissions page states that, as a licensed insurance producer, it may advise on insurance contracts, sell insurance, and obtain coverages for clients. Privacy and staff materials identify the operating company as USI Insurance Services LLC. Current California producer-license status remains independently unverified. 8,7,22

On 31 August 2026, Aon plc announced a definitive agreement to acquire USI from KKR and other shareholders for a $17.0 billion purchase price, with closing expected in the fourth quarter of 2026 subject to customary conditions including regulatory approvals. Aon stated that Aon and USI will continue to operate independently until the closing date. The reviewed announcement does not establish that the transaction has closed. 21

Vouch’s current disclosure identifies Vouch Specialty Insurance Services, LLC as the entity that brokers insurance. Vouch Group, Inc. is the group name used in that disclosure. The brokerage arranges policies with insurers; the insurer named on each policy takes on the covered risk. 24,30

Corix identifies Corix Insurance Services, LLC as the former Vouch Insurance Services, LLC. That is a different entity from Vouch Specialty Insurance Services, LLC, the broker named on Vouch’s current site. 34,24,25

Hiscox announced an agreement in August 2025 to acquire Corix Insurance Services, LLC and Vouch Insurance Company, while Vouch would remain an independent broker with a multi-year Hiscox distribution agreement. Hiscox’s 2025 annual report records the Corix acquisition closing on August 11, 2025. 32,33

Corix’s January 2025 legal disclosure still describes it as part of Vouch, even though the same page now displays Hiscox branding. Hiscox’s later annual report records the acquisition. The older ownership paragraph should not be used to describe the current Vouch brokerage. 35,33

Application process

USI does not publish a self-serve commercial quote flow on the reviewed pages. Technology and P&C inquiries are directed to pcinquiries@usi.com or a local office. The contact page includes a website message box that USI warns is not secured in transit and should not be used for sensitive information. Small- and medium-sized management-liability inquiries are also directed to Select.Business@usi.com. No public binding timetable or online eligibility tool was found. 10,9,5,17

Vouch’s public application starts with your legal business name, website, business address and location type, followed by your role and contact details. There is a separate sign-in path for an existing application or policy. 28

Vouch says its platform presents carrier options together, with differences in coverage, exclusions, endorsements and pricing explained by advisors. The reviewed pages do not promise a fixed number of quotes or a search of every insurer. 30

Vouch says many technology companies can arrange coverage within days, with smaller programs sometimes completed in minutes. Those are company timing claims. Its buying guide says coverage requires binding confirmation and the effective date, with underwriting and payment conditions satisfied. 29,31

Access to insurers

USI’s reviewed product and PrivaSafe pages do not name the insurers that issue its commercial, technology, or cyber placements. Privacy materials say USI may disclose personal information to third-party insurance carriers as needed to provide insurance services. A 2021 claims kit lists many insurer claim-reporting contacts for clients who already have those carriers; that directory is not a current placement panel or underwriting list. 15,10,9,7,19

Corix’s disclosures name State National Insurance Company, Inc. for its admitted offerings and United Specialty Insurance Company for certain surplus-lines offerings. These are Corix program disclosures; they do not identify the insurer on every policy placed by Vouch. 35

Corix’s public management liability application names United Specialty Insurance Company. It offers directors and officers, employment practices and fiduciary liability selections, with a warning about claims-made liability and defense costs reducing the limit unless endorsed otherwise. 49

Fees and compensation

Unless otherwise negotiated, USI says compensation for placing coverage is customarily a commission calculated as a percentage of premium and paid by the insurer. It may also receive additional monetary and non-monetary compensation from insurers or intermediaries (including affiliates), which can be contingent on volume, profitability, or other factors, and some agreements include growth or distribution incentives. Clients may request the nature and source of expected compensation, including on alternative quotes. Standard commission percentages and fee schedules for startup accounts are not published. 8

Vouch Specialty earns commissions on insurance sales and may also receive compensation based on the performance of the products sold. Its disclosure invites questions about compensation on a specific proposal or placement; it does not publish a commission percentage. 24

Vouch may pass through credit-card, debit-card or ACH transaction fees where permitted. Its disclosure lists wire and check as alternatives and says premium financing may be offered through Slash Eureka, Inc., doing business as Ascend, or an affiliate. 24

Servicing and renewals

USI describes USI ONE as a proprietary consultative process that combines Omni analytics, a national network of specialists, and an enterprise planning process. Technology and P&C pages say clients receive tailored recommendations aimed at total cost of risk. Those are company descriptions of advisory method, not independently verified service outcomes. 3,10,9

USI PATH is described as a proprietary risk-control platform that presents industry loss drivers, improvement areas by coverage line, and curated vendor solutions with preferred pricing and ROI projections. The homepage also markets PATH as guiding clients through risk control from identifying sources of loss to targeting solutions. Performance, ROI, and premium-reduction claims on those pages are company-reported. 18,1

Vouch offers a complimentary coverage review that it describes as identifying gaps and comparing a program with industry peers. It also offers reviews of insurance requirements in leases, customer agreements and funding arrangements. 40,41

Vouch says customers can request certificates of insurance through their account and include a third party in the request. A certificate summarizes insurance; the policy and any required endorsements determine that third party’s actual coverage. 42,43

Vouch says it coordinates documentation, communication and renewal cycles across carriers. Its renewal guide asks buyers to prepare updated financials, claims history and business changes, starting 30–60 days before renewal. That is preparation guidance, not a guaranteed service timetable or automatic renewal commitment. 30,44
