Hiscox vs Vouch

Hiscox sells Hiscox Insurance Company Inc. small-business policies; Vouch Specialty Insurance Services remains an independent broker after Hiscox agreed to acquire Corix and Vouch Insurance Company.

Introduction

Press about Hiscox and Vouch is easy to misread. Hiscox announced an August 2025 agreement to acquire Corix Insurance Services, LLC and Vouch Insurance Company, while Vouch Specialty Insurance Services, LLC would remain independent and continue distributing through an agreement. Hiscox offers small-business policies underwritten by Hiscox Insurance Company Inc. Vouch’s public application is still a broker comparing carrier options for technology companies. Hiscox is not the parent of Vouch Specialty Insurance Services. 37 16

Key Differences Between Hiscox and Vouch

Vouch’s current disclosure names Vouch Specialty Insurance Services, LLC as the brokerage entity. Corix Insurance Services, LLC is identified as the former Vouch Insurance Services, LLC—a different entity. Hiscox’s consumer products are Hiscox Insurance Company Inc. The acquisition did not include the current Vouch brokerage. 29 24

Startup Brokerage Platform Versus Hiscox Small-Business Policies

Vouch starts with legal name, website and location, then presents carrier options with coverage differences explained by an advisor. It lists technology errors and omissions, cyber, directors and officers, general liability, workers compensation and employment practices among technology lines. Hiscox’s online small-business quoting lists general liability, professional liability, cyber and a business owner’s policy; those pages do not list a directors and officers plus workers compensation technology suite under those names. 33 16

Issuing Insurers and Policy Forms

Corix materials name State National for admitted offerings and United Specialty for certain cyber, errors and omissions and management-liability applications. Those documents can still display mixed Hiscox branding even where ownership language is stale. A Hiscox bind names Hiscox Insurance Company Inc. for the listed online products. 40 24

What to Confirm in Quotes

  • Which entity you are appointing: Vouch Specialty versus Corix versus a Hiscox application. 29

  • Issuing insurer (Hiscox Insurance Company Inc., State National, United Specialty or another carrier). 40

  • Whether directors and officers and workers compensation are in the program; those names appear on Vouch’s technology list and are not among Hiscox’s listed online products. 34

Service Comparison

Hiscox vs Vouch: documented services and availability

CriteriaHiscoxVouch
Business role

Hiscox is the brand name used by its U.S. insurance businesses. Website terms identify Hiscox Inc., a Delaware corporation headquartered in Atlanta, as a licensed insurance intermediary for admitted and surplus-lines business. About Hiscox US names Hiscox Insurance Company Inc. (NAIC 10200) as the affiliated insurer and Hiscox Inc. as its general agent. Broker-only pages are restricted to licensed market professionals; the small-business section is the consumer product path. 5,4

In California, Hiscox Inc. says it does business as Hiscox Insurance Agency and publishes producer license number 0F09668. Its current producer-license status remains independently unverified; the number is company-reported. 6,23,11,5

Vouch’s current disclosure identifies Vouch Specialty Insurance Services, LLC as the entity that brokers insurance. Vouch Group, Inc. is the group name used in that disclosure. The brokerage arranges policies with insurers; the insurer named on each policy takes on the covered risk. 29,35

Corix identifies Corix Insurance Services, LLC as the former Vouch Insurance Services, LLC. That is a different entity from Vouch Specialty Insurance Services, LLC, the broker named on Vouch’s current site. 39,29,30

Hiscox announced an agreement in August 2025 to acquire Corix Insurance Services, LLC and Vouch Insurance Company, while Vouch would remain an independent broker with a multi-year Hiscox distribution agreement. Hiscox’s 2025 annual report records the Corix acquisition closing on August 11, 2025. 37,38

Corix’s January 2025 legal disclosure still describes it as part of Vouch, even though the same page now displays Hiscox branding. Hiscox’s later annual report records the acquisition. The older ownership paragraph should not be used to describe the current Vouch brokerage. 40,38

Access to insurers

Hiscox NOW appetite and About Hiscox US say admitted small-business products described there are underwritten by Hiscox Insurance Company Inc., a Chicago-based insurer licensed in all 50 states and D.C. The California Department of Insurance independently identifies that company as an Illinois-domiciled property-and-casualty insurer, NAIC 10200, California Company ID 1439-9, authorized in California since 14 September 1953 with unlimited-normal status. Hiscox’s California marketing page also cites Illinois license number 8754, which is not the CDI company ID; reconcile names and numbers on the quote. 24,25,4,23,6

Hiscox refers small-business buyers to other insurers or marketplaces for several products: workers’ compensation is underwritten by Hartford Fire Insurance; the commercial-auto page refers customers to GEICO and affiliates; medical malpractice is accessed through NOW Insurance, which Hiscox says is not affiliated with the Hiscox group; short-term liability is underwritten by Markel Insurance Company through Thimble. A separate other-insurance page instead partners with CyberPolicy for commercial auto, umbrella, directors and officers, and employment practices liability. The issuing company on a partner quote is therefore not assumed to be Hiscox Insurance Company Inc. 11,12,13,14,15

Hiscox Inc. says it is an approved Lloyd’s coverholder and underwrites surplus-lines business on behalf of Lloyd’s Syndicates 33 and 3624, with U.S. surplus-lines placements made by licensed surplus-lines brokers. Terms also say Hiscox Inc. may place admitted and surplus-lines business with Hiscox Insurance Company Inc., other domestic insurers, and Lloyd’s syndicates. That surplus-lines route is described as distinct from the online small-business catalogue. 4,5

Corix’s disclosures name State National Insurance Company, Inc. for its admitted offerings and United Specialty Insurance Company for certain surplus-lines offerings. These are Corix program disclosures; they do not identify the insurer on every policy placed by Vouch. 40

Corix’s public management liability application names United Specialty Insurance Company. It offers directors and officers, employment practices and fiduciary liability selections, with a warning about claims-made liability and defense costs reducing the limit unless endorsed otherwise. 54

Coverage lines

Hiscox directly markets and offers online quotes for general liability, professional liability (errors and omissions), cyber security insurance and a business owner’s policy that combines general liability with commercial property. IT pages present those same lines for technology consultants rather than a separately named technology E&O policy. Website examples and coverage lists are illustrative; the issued policy controls. 16,7,8,9,10,2

Hired/non-owned auto and commercial crime are described as upgrades to a Hiscox business owner’s policy, not standalone Hiscox policies. Crime is not sold separately and is not available in all states. HNOA is tied to the BOP occurrence limit and does not replace commercial auto for vehicles the business owns or regularly operates. 20,21,10

Hiscox also markets partner coverage for workers’ compensation (Hartford Fire, generally requiring a Hiscox general-liability policy), commercial auto (GEICO referral and, separately, CyberPolicy), medical malpractice (NOW Insurance), short-term liability (Thimble/Markel), and CyberPolicy quotes for umbrella, directors and officers, and employment practices liability. Those pages are partner access paths, not proof that Hiscox Insurance Company Inc. issues the policy. 11,12,13,14,15,26

Vouch lists technology errors and omissions, cyber liability, directors and officers, general liability, workers’ compensation, employment practices liability, key person, crime, product liability and umbrella coverage for technology companies. The list describes options, not a package that automatically includes every line. 34

A public Corix Cyber and E&O application names United Specialty Insurance Company and offers selectable cyber, errors and omissions, and media liability coverage. Its first page describes claims-made liability coverage and says defense costs reduce the available limit unless the policy is endorsed otherwise. 42

Corix’s other documented programs include management liability with directors and officers, employment practices and fiduciary options, and a commercial package with general liability, property, hired and non-owned auto, and employee benefits liability options. 43,44

The reviewed Vouch pages and Corix materials did not establish a complete current policy form, endorsement set or insurer-by-product schedule for a new Vouch buyer. Ask for those documents with the proposal, especially when a quoted policy comes from a different insurer or program. 30,35,41,43,44,42,54

Corix’s cyber/E&O page describes system-failure business interruption and a form combining professional and technology E&O. It also warns that social engineering, AI activities and intellectual-property disputes can have conditions, sublimits or exclusions. 41

Corix’s management liability page describes an option to use defense counsel outside its panel, subject to conditions such as sharing costs. Crisis-management expenses have sublimits, and pre-claim assistance is an optional extension with its own terms. 43

Application process

Hiscox says eligible buyers can get a small-business quote online by entering a zip code and answering questions, and that general liability, professional liability, cyber and BOP are offered online. Licensed advisors are available by phone at posted Eastern Time hours. The general-liability FAQ says that after the application is completed, the policy is issued by email and a certificate appears in welcome documents. These are company-described steps; eligibility and binding conditions require confirmation on the actual application. 16,7,1

Vouch’s public application starts with your legal business name, website, business address and location type, followed by your role and contact details. There is a separate sign-in path for an existing application or policy. 33

Vouch says its platform presents carrier options together, with differences in coverage, exclusions, endorsements and pricing explained by advisors. The reviewed pages do not promise a fixed number of quotes or a search of every insurer. 35

Vouch says many technology companies can arrange coverage within days, with smaller programs sometimes completed in minutes. Those are company timing claims. Its buying guide says coverage requires binding confirmation and the effective date, with underwriting and payment conditions satisfied. 34,36

Claims assistance

Hiscox says customers can start a claim online, by phone or by mail. The claims center lists 1-866-424-8508 with weekday and weekend Eastern hours; a professional-liability FAQ separately tells current customers that 866-424-8508 is open 24 hours a day. Hiscox says it assigns a specialized claims professional, validates coverage and may appoint an attorney for covered liability claims. Policies placed with Hartford, GEICO, NOW Insurance, Markel/Thimble or CyberPolicy markets may use different notice instructions. These statements describe a reporting process, not independently measured claims outcomes. 17,27,7

Vouch advertises claims advocacy at no cost to its clients, with a dedicated advocate and help communicating with insurers. It describes assisting with reporting, documentation and follow-up. The issuing insurer decides coverage and pays covered claims. 50,51

Vouch’s help center links to a claim request form asking about the incident, its location, estimated loss and supporting documents. Your policy’s notice instructions remain important: confirm the correct recipient, deadline and any separate cyber incident-response contact. 52,53,51
