At-Bay vs
RiskCube
Compare At-Bay’s technology product with RiskCube’s brokerage and AI-liability descriptions without assuming unseen policy terms.
Introduction
An AI company negotiating enterprise indemnities needs to describe what its product does and how a failure could harm a customer. RiskCube markets technology E&O and AI-related coverage, including descriptions of model and agentic risks. At-Bay markets combined Tech E&O and cyber. Neither product label establishes that the proposed policy covers the company’s particular AI liability. 20 25 2

Key Differences Between at-Bay and RiskCube
AI Gap Language Needs a Form and Attachment Point
RiskCube’s AI descriptions include excess protection intended to address gaps, but the reviewed public documentation does not establish the operative form or insurer. Ask what underlying policy is required, what event triggers the AI coverage, and whether the alleged gap is expressly covered. Treat this as a placement question rather than an established solution for every AI seller. 25 18
Older Appetite Evidence Cannot Decide Current Eligibility
A September 2023 Tech E&O appetite PDF still accessible on At-Bay’s site has lower revenue and limit ceilings than the current product page and lists restricted classes including autonomous AI. It should not be treated as current eligibility guidance; ask underwriting for the applicable appetite version. 12,2
For At-Bay, obtain a current written answer about autonomous functions, model development and the services being sold. For RiskCube, request the same activity-specific answer from the proposed insurer. This makes the comparison about accepted operations rather than one provider’s older document versus another’s current marketing. 17 25
Platform Access Is Not Binding Authority for the Buyer
RiskCube’s inspected entry flow established a contact route, while its terms impose binding conditions. At-Bay documents broker quoting and signatures. Allocate time for underwriting even when the initial interface appears simple. RiskCube’s fee-free language also needs to be read alongside disclosures permitting fees and commissions. 24 17 16 6
What to Confirm in Quotes
Request the AI and technology forms, exclusions for contractual and intellectual-property liabilities, underlying-insurance requirements, issuing entities and California route. Ask for the total payable cost and a written explanation of which customer loss scenarios each proposed policy addresses. 15 5
Service Comparison
At-Bay vs RiskCube Insurance: documented services and availability
| Criteria | At-Bay | RiskCube |
|---|---|---|
| Business role | At-Bay offers cyber, technology errors and omissions (Tech E&O), and miscellaneous professional liability insurance. Its disclosed producer, At-Bay Insurance Services LLC, is a property and casualty agency and surplus lines broker; its website says coverage is underwritten by non-admitted insurers. 1,5 | RiskCube offers startup insurance brokerage through RiskCube Insurance Services, LLC. Its parent, RiskCube, Inc., supplies the platform and operational support; third-party insurers issue coverage. 17,16 |
| Application process | At-Bay describes a broker workflow of completing an application, adjusting limits and retentions, reviewing documents, selecting an effective date, and satisfying contingencies and signature requirements before binding. Brokers can also email submissions to underwriting. An online quote is not itself bound coverage. 6,4 | RiskCube describes one digital intake followed by AI-assisted and broker-reviewed quote comparison and digital purchase. The public application URL reviewed displayed a contact form rather than a complete underwriting flow. 14,24 For technology E&O, RiskCube asks for product, customer, revenue and contract details, plus prior claims or known incidents. It qualifies its advertised quote timing by risk profile and underwriting complexity. 20 RiskCube’s terms say quotes are not binders: written confirmation from the insurer or its authorized representative and required conditions must be satisfied before coverage is bound. 17 |
| Access to insurers | At-Bay announced in August 2023 that eligible new E&S Cyber and Tech E&O business would be quoted on At-Bay Specialty Insurance Company paper. That historical announcement does not identify the insurer on a current California quote or establish the issuer for MPL. 11 The current MPL product page does not name its issuing insurer. A September 2023 announcement names United Specialty Company for MPL, but that historical reference is insufficient to establish the current contracting insurer or California placement. 4,13 | RiskCube says it compares multiple insurers. Its terms permit placements through surplus-lines channels; the reviewed legal disclosures and catalogue do not identify the issuing insurer for a specific California applicant. 14,17,16,18 |
| Fees and compensation | Stance access uses an Embedded Security Fee and Endorsement, while MDR is separately purchased. Security costs should be distinguished from the insurance premium and any broker charges. 7 Commission rates, broker compensation arrangements and a complete placement-fee schedule were not disclosed in the reviewed product, platform and US terms pages. This does not establish that commissions or fees are absent; request an itemized quote and compensation disclosure. 2,6,10 | RiskCube’s homepage and FAQ advertise no added broker fees, but its compensation disclosure allows agreed service fees and payment-processing charges. It also describes insurer or intermediary commissions and possible performance incentives. The scope of the fee-free claim needs written clarification for the requested services. 14,19,16 |
