Who is behind biBerk
biBerk is part of the Berkshire Hathaway insurance group. It sells direct with no broker. Policies are issued by Wellfleet Insurance Company, Berkshire Hathaway Direct Insurance Company, National Liability & Fire Insurance Company or Wellfleet New York Insurance Company. The disclosure page does not say which one issues a given product or state, so check your quote or policy.[2][1]

Regulatory history
On Nov 1, 2022, Oregon's insurance regulator ordered all four insurers to stop and fined them $40,000, with $15,000 suspended for three years. Between Jan 2020 and June 2022, they sent 1,046 workers' comp audit bills without the required wording about the right to dispute the audit. The insurers agreed to the order and said the wording was now included. We found no other order in our searches, but did not search every state.[4]
Evidence gaps
- The A++ ratings are company-reported and third-party-reported, and AM Best's exact entity list hasn't been confirmed.
- NAIC complaint index could not be checked at NAIC; the only figure found is from a third-party site.
- Current licence status in each state was not looked up in state DOI records. NAIC codes were seen in biBerk's disclosure and the Oregon order only.
