Does Professional Liability Cover Bodily Injury?
Usually, bodily injury is handled by general liability or a specialized policy; some E&O forms exclude it, though endorsements may change the result.
Professional E&O generally focuses on financial harm caused by services, while Texas DOI describes general liability as addressing bodily injury and property damage claims. The sample Hiscox professional E&O wording excludes bodily injury, but specialized policies can differ and some technology policies advertise additional liability features. A claim can also involve both a professional act and physical injury, so the label alone does not decide which insurer responds. Check the bodily-injury definition and exclusion, any professional-services carveback, who qualifies as an insured, and whether general liability or another policy is intended to respond. Confirm coordination between policies and disclose the same facts, services, and entities on each application.
If your work affects physical operations, describe that exposure when requesting both policies. A suit may allege negligent advice and injury together, so ask how insurers allocate defense and coordinate limits.
