Product Liability Insurance for Amazon Sellers: What Should You Check?
Check both the policy’s product coverage and Amazon’s current documentation requirements, including insured name and additional-insured wording.
Amazon’s Seller Central guidance says a qualifying policy must cover the products listed on Amazon.com and names Amazon.com Services LLC and its affiliates and assignees as additional insureds. It also sets its own acceptable policy types and documentation criteria. The post describes Amazon’s platform rules, not an insurer’s coverage promise; the policy still controls whether a claim is insured.
Before submitting proof, compare the current Seller Central requirements with the declarations, products-completed operations coverage, legal name, limits, deductible, and additional-insured endorsement. Ask the insurer to correct mismatches before uploading the certificate. Recheck Amazon’s current terms because requirements may change. Amazon’s Seller Central post is Amazon’s description of its requirements and can change; use the current account instructions at submission time. A certificate does not alter exclusions or add a product absent from the policy.
