Does Tech E&O Cover Implementation Errors?

Potentially, when implementation or installation is a scheduled technology service and a covered error causes a third party’s loss.

Implementation may include configuration, migration, installation, training, integration, and support; not every quote automatically includes all of them. The Hartford lists equipment-installation errors as an example of a possible Tech E&O claim, and Coalition describes coverage for mishaps in delivering technology products and services. These are company descriptions, not universal terms. Check that the application and declarations name each service, including work by subcontractors. Review exclusions for failure to meet specifications, warranties, contractual penalties, property damage, and data restoration. If you migrate client data or manage a third-party system, ask whether data loss and vendor-caused outages are expressly addressed.

If implementation moves or transforms customer records, describe that work separately from configuration. Ask if the form addresses corrupted files, unrecoverable data, and restoration expenses.

List migration, installation, and post-launch support individually so the underwriter can match each activity to the quoted services definition.
