# Switching from Armilla? Compare your options with Spot

Armilla pairs AI liability insurance with performance warranties and model assessments, so your Spot team keeps those pieces separate when it takes the risk to other markets.

- Insurance and warranties compared separately
- AI exclusions read in every proposal
- Your model details written up once

## How it works

- **Send what Armilla gave you.** Upload the policy, any warranty agreement and the assessment report. Your Spot team notes which parts are insurance issued by an insurer and which are contractual promises.
- **Describe the AI you run.** We write up the model, who uses it, the tasks it performs and the failure thresholds you care about, plus any customer performance commitment you need to back. Brokers use the same description.
- **Brokers approach insurers.** Brokers ask generative AI, technology E&O, cyber and professional liability markets for proposals, and you follow the replies in Slack.
- **Read AI wording and bind.** Your Spot team compares how each proposal treats inaccurate outputs, agent actions and data leakage, then helps you bind before the Armilla coverage ends.

Armilla offers AI liability insurance, contractual performance warranties and model assessments. It markets its insurance operation as a managing general agent, and the insurer behind a policy, not the brand, takes the policy risk. Buyers face an AI risk assessment before it proposes insurance or a warranty.

## Why businesses consider switching

- **An enterprise customer asks for assurance.** Large buyers sometimes want insurance, a warranty or both before they sign an AI contract, and the mix they ask for can change.
- **Your model changed.** A new model version or a new use can shift the risk, and a program built for the old one may not fit.
- **Your technology E&O should answer for AI.** Some companies would rather see AI risk handled in the same policies as cyber and professional liability.
- **You want help comparing unusual products.** AI liability is a newer line, and wording varies enough that a person reading the forms alongside you helps.

## How to switch without a gap

- **Separate the insurance from the warranty.** Check which promise sits in a policy and which sits in a contract. Ending one doesn’t end the other.
- **Find the policy period and reporting terms.** Look at the renewal date, how claims are reported and any retroactive date, since they affect what a new policy can pick up.
- **Bind the replacement before you cancel.** Keep the Armilla-placed policy running until the new one is confirmed in writing. A customer contract that requires AI coverage may be breached by even a short gap.
- **Cancel through your placement route.** Armilla markets its insurance work as a managing general agent, so ask the producer named on your quote how to cancel and who handles any refund. Then update customers who hold your certificates.

## Common questions

### What is the difference between AI insurance and a warranty?

Insurance is a policy issued by an insurer. A performance warranty is a contractual promise about how a model performs. Your Spot team keeps the two apart when it compares, because one doesn’t replace the other.

### Can technology E&O cover AI risk instead?

It might, or it might exclude it. Wording varies, so your Spot team reads each proposal for AI-related exclusions and compares them with what you hold today.

### Is Armilla a partner of Spot?

No. Spot isn’t affiliated with Armilla and doesn’t speak for it. This page just helps you move away from an Armilla placement.

### Should I wait for my Armilla renewal?

Waiting is often simplest. If a customer deadline forces a move sooner, we line up the new binder first and leave the old policy alone until it is in force.

### Does Spot earn commissions on premiums?

No. Spot doesn’t take commissions, and the brokers we work with remain the ones who place coverage.
