# Moving your insurance program from Aon? Compare brokers with Spot

Aon handles US commercial risk programs through several entities, so your Spot team first maps which entity services each policy, then helps you compare brokers before any change.

- Each Aon entity and policy mapped before you move
- Whole or partial program moves planned
- Brokers compared on middle-market experience

## How it works

- **Tell us which entity services what.** Send your broker agreement and policy documents. Aon’s placement entities and insurers vary by policy, so your Spot team records which one applies to each.
- **Review the program against your obligations.** We read your leases, credit agreements and customer contracts against general liability, property, workers’ compensation, cyber, directors and officers, umbrella and auto.
- **Compare other brokers.** Spot works alongside brokers. We help you question each candidate about the markets it would use, its mid-sized client experience and who services accounts.
- **Plan the handover.** Your Spot team helps you decide whether to move everything at once or by line, and whether to use a broker of record letter or renewal dates.

Aon describes US commercial risk brokerage for certain programs and a dedicated Middle Market practice for mid-sized organizations across North America. Placement entities and insurers vary by policy. The reviewed page states no numerical size cutoff or US-only eligibility rule.

## Why businesses consider switching

- **Your company outgrew or shrank its tier.** A change in revenue or headcount can make a different size of broker a better fit.
- **You want one coordinated program.** Several lines placed at different times can drift apart in structure and renewal dates.
- **You need a particular line handled.** A specialist broker for one exposure sometimes complements a general program.
- **Your contracts changed.** A new credit facility or customer agreement can demand limits or wording your current program lacks.

## How to switch without a gap

- **Read the brokerage terms.** Aon’s terms describe its role and the client’s responsibility to notify insurers directly. Check what notice and handover terms apply to you.
- **Request proposals ahead of renewal.** Ask other brokers how they would structure the program and which insurers they would approach.
- **Choose a letter or renewal, line by line.** Large programs sometimes split by line or entity. Decide for each policy when servicing moves.
- **Keep claims and notices covered.** Until servicing transfers, confirm who receives claim notices. Then reissue certificates and update contacts on every contract.

## Common questions

### Which Aon entity placed my policy?

Placement entities vary by policy. Your policy documents and broker agreement name the entity, and your Spot team records it so a new broker knows exactly which relationships it takes over.

### Can I move only part of my program?

Often. Large programs sometimes split by line or entity. Your Spot team lists every policy and who services it, so a partial move is planned rather than discovered.

### Has Aon authorized this page?

No. Spot isn’t affiliated with Aon, and Aon hasn’t reviewed or endorsed anything written here.

### Who gives notice of a claim during the move?

Aon’s terms say the client notifies insurers directly unless a separate signed agreement says otherwise. Your Spot team keeps a list of notice instructions so a claim during the handover isn’t missed.

### Is Spot paid by insurers like a broker?

No. Spot doesn’t collect commissions on premiums and works alongside whichever broker you choose.
